  1. You can do it under the right conditions but you will get much better results with spinning gear.
  2. I use them with the Berkley Beast, gives it a seductive wiggle on the fall.
  3. I have used them for the last few years and I would say they are about the same as any of the other leading top water baits. Just a different sound or action for the days they need it. They are certainly not magic or worth the price.
  4. I just put some on my cranking setup and I'm not sold. With heavier lures it seems to be fine but if I try to throw something lighter it seems to coil up on me. I'm going to give it a couple more chances and see if it breaks in. If it doesn't I will be going back to braid with a leader and a loose drag. Also, if you are going to try the Yo-Zuri hybrid you might want the green or smoke. I bought the clear and it seems to be pretty opaque. I use braid on one outfit for c rig and Yo Zuri for everything else. I use 10 lb on my casting reels and 6 on my spinning outfits, been doing that for a few years now and do not have any problems. I have been using smoke this year and boy it is hard to see. Especially when fishing soft plastics.
  5. Try Yo Zuri hybryd you will love it.
  6. This bait could have merit. I have done O K by just hooking two straight, six inch worms in the middle wacky style. It worked, but not a killer for sure.
  7. For some reason you are not getting the hook into their jaw. If you did not have this problem in the past and it has just started. What have you changed? Are you using a lighter rod or a line that stretches? Or as stated are your hooks dull? I think your 3/0 should be big enough. Is that what your buddies are using? As far as your hook set, cross their eyes.
  8. RW I was not aware that the Rage Tail Thumper floated. Do the other Rage Tail baits float?
  9. This guy must have deep pockets because the lawyer fees will eat him up. I think this copy cat thing is a little out of hand anyhow, seems like there is no way to protect the original idea.
  10. That would be a good deal in this area the dog gone things catch bass.
  11. I guess they are using them like a stick bait such as the Sluggo which would be another good choice.
  12. Guanim? Did you make that one up Raul? I have been fishing for six decades and I can assure you that a red head River Runt, Go Deeper Crab and several others were very reliable baits. I have a couple of old red head poppers that will be very effective here when the bass start to spawn. As for that Spook, it is a good top water bait with a white belly and you don't need a whole lot more than that. I won more than my share of tournaments back in the 80's with those guanish finished baits.
  13. River Bottom also makes a creature bait I really like.
  14. It does not take long for a Senko to get to the bottom and it wiggles all the way down. You could take a long nap waiting for a Fluke to fall and the only action I have ever seen out of it is it darts when you twitch it. Both are good baits but very different.
  15. I remember when the red head was a hot color for cranks and top waters. Might have been because the pike and musky loved it but it was also good for bass. I still use a couple of the topwaters and the bass still like them. Anyone still use this color? I wonder how many have it in their tackle box?
  16. I like a big bait and walk the dog pretty fast with it.
  17. I have never subscribed to the one in ten crank baits is a winner therory. I think your buddy was just feeling the bite a little better than you were.
  18. I do well with drop shot hooks. 2/0 usually but it depends on the size of the lure. Never have any hook up problems.
  19. If I try to pitch too far the bait gets too high and lands with a splash. Like Mottifa, I like a low pitch and a quite entry.
  20. Dark water for sure but as stated try them when nothing else works.
  21. junebug shades black and blue old road kill camo.
  22. I seldom ever catch a smallmouth that isn't full of craws. Try a tube, a grub, or even cranks that hug the bottom they will all work
  23. My friend always said he was a lure collector. He said he liked to fish , but collecting was more fun. He collected every bait you could imagine and in quanties.
  24. I like those old Creek Chubs
  25. The Speed Traps have been excellent for me this year. They are a tough bait and run very straight at high speed.
