  3. I like the Paca on a C rig also because it is a bait that should be worked a little faster to get the full action from those big claws.
  4. That is a pretty neat idea. I would like to see the action, a fisherman might get creative with that bait.
  5. I have done much better with the Paca Craw as compared to the Rage Craw. I think most of us have tried all of the Rage products and have our own opinions about them, good and bad. But for me it is the Paca all the way.
  6. In my opinion Paca Craws are simply the best. I T rig most of the time but also use them on a jig. If I am right about this, the guy who run Wacky Worm is the one who developed the original Paca Craw and sold the rights to it. Someone else may have all of the facts about this.
  7. I try new baits all the time, I am a sucker for new soft plastics. But I work them into a rotation with my old tried and true confidence baits. I feel like this also gives me a a good chance to compare new baits to the old ones on any given day.

  10. I used Naptha to clean all sorts of mechanical parts for years, but switched to Acetone. As Francho said it does not leave a film and it is quicker.
  11. There ya go Thanks for posting that link. Like most old baits I don't think the new version is quite as good as the originals, but Bagley balsa baits are about as good as any you can buy and they do produce and you can't beat the quality for the price. Just look at those finishes. They are still my number one balsa choice.
  12. Always interesting to read the answers to this question. Seems like what does not work for some does magic for others. I am the same way, I have baits that are supposed to be outstanding and they just don't work for me. But on the other hand I have some that are said to be awful that I would not be without. I am sure it is all about confidence.
  13. Bagley still makes some nice balsa baits at a fair price.
  14. I use those small cloth bags made for soft baits from Bass Pro or Cabela's and I like them much better than the binders. The bags are not expensive and you can get plenty in one and it is easy to change the contents from time to time.
  15. I just can't do it, I can just picture my bait sitting in a vast waste land void of any life or hidden deep in a crevace between two rocks. Gives me the hoolies.
  16. I prefer a silent crank bait over rattles in almost every situation except muddy or very stained water. I think it just gives a more natural presentation, and right now the bass are loving them.
  17. Net Bait products are as good as it gets. The craw is an awesome bait.
  18. I have had some luck in the OHio river with this rig. Seems like it gets better as the water cools.
  19. I have used scents on and off over the years, when a new one comes out I try it. But over the years, day in and day out it has not made a bit of difference to me. I don't waste fishing time to smear it on a lure. Others will swear they lmprove their catch.
  20. They are a knock off of the Rattle Snake. How are they different?
  21. Very good choice, Francho is an excellent contributor.
  22. Got a look at some of the new baits they have that were at ICAST. I really like the looks of those Power Team creature baits, I do pretty well on baits similar to those. Don't know a whole lot about them but they passed the look test with flying colors. I also do not know a thing about Power Team. Looks like I will start a wish list for next season.
  23. In about 60 years of fishing I have yet to find an easy to catch bass in the state of Ohio. I don't know if there is a state with bass in the waters that is more difficult. I have fished all over the south and it is much, much easier, at times almost like catching fish in a barrel.
  24. I tried to encourage him to use his baits as tools and learn how to fish each one and how to get the most out of them. I think that is a very key element in becoming a good fisherman. But we all know fisherman buy too much, guess it is just part of the fun.
  25. Good post and I agree. If you have baits that cover the water column from top to bottom you do not need ten of each kind. Buy some good, proven, fishing baits and fish them hard and with confidence, you will catch bass. But on the other hand I had an old friend that bought fishing tackle like it was going to be discontinued. He knew he had "too much " and would never use all of it but he enjoyed buying fishing tackle. Said he was a collector.
