  • About Me
I love to fish but am still learning everyday. I mostly fish from the bank but I am trying to get out more in my kayak. I love to take my kid fishing as well. I want to learn more about fishing so i can teach my kid how to fish. Mostly i want to improve on what I'm doing and the equipment that i have.

  1. Is there a style of weight that is preferred to Texas rigging? is there a real difference between a worm/bullet and flipping style weight?
  2. Thanks everyone for you ideas and information!! here is the Piscifun Fishing Line Spooler I am using
  3. Thats a great idea. I do try to keep a much tention on the line a possible. the line spooler I use for spinning reels turns and the bail does while reeling in. its suppose to falling the reel spinning and removes some of the line twist. I was just looking at one of the kastking spooling tools. They have 2 or 3 of them to choose from and both of options for spinning and castings. i didn't know that spinning was a clockwise and casting was counter clockwise. I thought you were just supposed to spin the line off the line spool in the opposite direction as the reel was winding in.
  4. Hello everyone! I have begun the long fun task of respooling all my reels before i head out for the first time this year. I am having the worst of time with spooling my reels so far. I'm wondering what some of your techniques, tricks or even methods for doing so. I have a piscifun line spooler that seemed to work last year with both fluorocarbon and braided lines. But after a could weeks the spinning reels I had spooled were starting to have line twists. Even the baitcasting reels started to have some line twist that had only fluorocarbon on them. The braided reels were fine. I even tried respooling one spinning reel with fluorocarbon line that was sitting in a pot of hot water while i spooled it and there was still line twist right after i have spooled it. So I am wondering what i am doing wrong. Is maybe the line bad? Some of the line was new at the beginning of last season and some were maybe a year or two older then that. I could really use any help that anyone could offer. Maybe it was the brand of line? I mostly used Trilene, stren or pline fluorocarbon. And does anyone use line conditioner while they are spooling fluorocarbon on? Are there any tools that you would recommend for unspooling old line and spooling new line on?

    4th of July 2022

Had a good weekend at the local honey hole. Had never really tried a wacky rig but I’m hooked. Getting the kiddo started in the wacky as well.
  6. The Ned rig is my normal go to almost every time at this lake but I was trying my hand at other techniques just to see what would produce more bites. I ended up just slowing down and got hit on the chatter bait. the wacky rig would get the fish to look at it and then just sink back into the weeds. water temp was in the mid to high 70s and water is always clear.
  7. I was out the past two weekends on a kayak fishing and I noticed something. Last weekend I was mostly fishing around submerged grass and some submerged timber throwing a chatter bait. I had a couple of fallows and only one strike. Is that a sign I should have switched to a jig? Then this last weekend I was mostly using a wacky rig that had a yum dinger and had the same thing happen when I threw the rig into the middle of the grass. Would that have been a sign to switch to a fluke or drop shot?
  8. Thanks for all the replies everyone! Going to try and get out today after some homework and chores around the house. Have a Happy Easter and Tight Lines!
  9. OOO what brand is that worm? Will it work in heavy grass filled lakes?

    Fishing in 2020

Just a little fishing from last year
  11. Does anyone use a swimming worm? If so what do you use and where. Looking to try something in a lake that has heavy nasty grass, lillipads and some rocks. Would this also be good for small or large mouth bass? and would it work on a river too?
  12. I am going to look into a more powerful rod. Was thinking of a Lews or Fenwick medium heavy rod but haven’t decided on the reel.
  13. Looking to try my luck on drop shot, Texas and Carolina Rigs this year. My go to is always a ned rig or a Texas weightless. I’m using a 7’ medium-light action spinning rod with 10lb braid and a 10LB fluorocarbon leader. I’m also using 2 medium action bait caster with 10LB braid on one and the other is 15lb fluorocarbon. Thinking of picking up a new rod if needed. Just looking for some simple tried and true baits for drop shot, Texas and Carolina Rigs. Will be fishing from the bank mostly or from a kayak on smaller lakes and streams.
