  1. I am a very big fan of Tool/Perfect Circle/Puscifer. Not sure what genre they fall into but for Metal they do it for me.
  2. Probably a ton of good Rick Clunn or Paul Elias articles out there, these guys were a couple of the best with Crankbaits
  3. I am an early morning and late afternoon/evening kind of guy...
  4. I use a lot of their products, they are always nice and clean out of the package, and have preformed well in my use.
  5. Sorry you feel that way, I did read then entire post multiple times before I replied. I don't have much problem keeping pressure on fish when they change direction, jumping is something else, you almost always lose some pressure on the fish when they jump, just have to try to minimize the times the fish jumps. I am using NRX, Dobyns and High end St. Croix which are probably the fast rods out of the bunch. I feel like this may boil down to user preference and what you are used to, I personally do not prefer a lot of flex in a rod when I am setting the hook or using the rod to work baits. I use the moderate and moderate fast rods primarily for crankbaits and some topwater. You mentioned in your original post that slower rods are more fun to catch fish on, I can agree with that, nothing like the smooth silky way a moderate action rod eases into the backbone, I do enjoy fishing them.
  6. Good score! Think they are available in three different lengths 4.25, 5.25 and 6.25
  7. Two thoughts: 1) fast rod unloading during the fight and causing pressure on the fish to be lost, as described in my post, I think if you are letting the rod unload during the fight, that is a matter of technique and not rod/action specific. Once the rod loads on the initial strike and set, why would you let your rod unload from that point? Keep pressure on the fish. 2) fast rod may stop loading before the fish has sufficiently engulfed the bait, especially on a short initial strike, What would the rod be loading on at all if the fish does not have the bait? Fish short strike some, but there are a lot of ways to reduce those times.
  8. Give you line a squirt of KVD Line and Lure it is hydrophobic (repels water) keeps the line supple and some say it helps with line fade.
  9. That's a good deal, were they the max scent?
  10. Thanks, I was looking for another bait to try in this line, I will give the Hog a try also.
  11. Roger I have not tried the Ace, but on your advice I will get a few bags and give them a try. Yes, I was using the Maxscent, I think I will try the regular ones next time. I am finding the max scent generals here for 6.99
  12. Got on a dynamite stick bait bite tonight as was going through Senko's like Shite through a goose. I remembered that I had picked up a couple packs of a Berkley "The General" stick bait. I rigged one up on my 4/0 skip gap hook and got bit immediately. When I inspected the worm and re-rigged it appeared to have held up bettter than the Senko, I continued to fish that bait and caught 6 fish on it before I could no longer use it. The good is they catch fish and may be a little more solid after a few catches than the Senko. Downside is they cost just about the same as the Senko. Anyone else got any experience with these?
  13. how's that work out for ya ...
  14. Just bustin your chops man, we all have our own ways of doing things, no wrong, no right....
  15. Would be nice to see another magforce 3D reel but I think we both know that ship has sailed. People struggle with the simple braking systems that are availble now MF3D would make their heads pop.
  16. No need if you don't mind losing fish because you set the hook like an 8yr old school girl. Sweep sets are for treble baits.
  17. Please explain to me your thoughts on a rod being to fast for single hook moving baits.
  18. Those Lil Nasty hooks are crazy sharp,
  19. Thats a nice fish!
  20. They work great for me, the threading part just takes a few times to get the hang of, nothing to it after that.
  21. Everything starts with a good hook set. I use a MH/F or XF when I fish jigs, chatterbaits, buzz baits and anything else where I have a lot of line out and have to drive a large single hook into a fish. I don't lose a lot of fish. I have tried with slower rods but at long distances and heavy hooks they just fail to have enough hook setting power because the rod flexes too much. In my camp a Moderate or Moderate Fast rod is for sweep setting small treble hooks. Everyone has a style and opinion, this is mine.
  22. They work great on a C-Rig in the spring. The Zoom Centipede is a good one.
  23. The clearer the better for any color of senko. It is the action of the bait that separates it from all the other stick worms and attracts fish.
  24. This thread makes my head hurt.....
