  2. I like the split ring, they never seem to run right for me if I direct tie to them.
  3. Four particles, four forces and one Higgs field. These account for You, Me, and everything else in our everyday world.
  4. everything on a polygraph is taken from a baseline, that is why they ask all the routine questions at the beginning of the test.
  5. I understand your point, I have far too many rods and reels, but I can tell you from experience, I could take a couple of your rods and reels, and probably fish 90% of every technique you listed and it would make very little difference in the number of fish I catch. Fishing only has to be a hard, laborious task if we make it that way. If you are not fishing to make a living who cares if you miss a fish or two, you will anyway. Fishing at most of our level is suppose to be fun and something we look forward to, not something we lay awake at night running spread sheets of rods, reels, lines, techniques and like through our heads. I promise the fish won't mind if you are not fishing a lure on the optimal setup. /RANT
  6. You can do it at a decent price now that the equipment is so inexpensive. I say jump in with both feet, I am sure you will get a lot of good advice here.
  7. The Pro Qualifier use to be routinely touted along with the Shimano Citica as a best for the money reel. I have not seen or used one in many years, but I wold have no problem believing that they are still a good lower priced option.
  8. Single, thick hooks at the end of a long cast tend to work best for me on rods with faster actions and tips.
  9. Everyone has there own opinion on what is right, wrong or best. Put a reel on a rod, spool it up an go fish. But most all have fun. No offense, this is not a science project, it is a hobby for most of us.
  10. I have eaten many bass, it is not my general practice any longer, but it is the way I was raised. I prefer sunfish, crappie or walleye. But if I wanted a good fresh piece of fish I would not hesitate to eat a bass within the legal limits of the lake I was fishing. I prefer pan fried in butter, salt and pepper.

  13. 9 pounds is certainly more than enough drag for most bass fishing applications. But there is something else to consider here. Reels that produce a lot of drag allow you to work in the lower portion of the drag band where the drag tends to be much smoother, whereas a reel that only produces 9 pounds of total drag tends to put you in middle high. Just a thought.
  14. 8.0, sounds good They changed everything.....
  15. when it comes to spinning reels I have not had much need to look any further than the Pflueger line-up. The President and President XT are both really good reels, if you want to step it up a notch or two from there the Supreme and Supreme XT are both very good and will last you a good number of years. Hard to beat Pflueger when it come to bang for the buck.
  16. If you make 40 to 45 yard cast and you already have room to spool 80 yards of line on the real, why would you suggest removing the other 80, at this point it is just backing.
  17. Happens sometimes when you have something out of order and is being smashed into the A/R bearing when you tighten the drag.
  18. What do you want to master? Quantum Physics, Evolution, Black Holes, and Wiggle Warts.
  19. Shimano lost me when they painted the curado white and tried to tell me it was a chronarch. That coupled with the next two generations of reels being basically turds was all I needed to never look back. I purchased 5 of the top end Lews as soon as they came on the market, only to be let down by how quickly they deteriorated in performance over the next year and a half. I then purchased ABU Revo Premier Gen II reels and found them superior to anything I had fished previously, until the paint started basically falling off of them. Many of my friends told me to stop avoiding the fact that Daiwa was building a superior product to everything else and just try a couple, so I did, and couple turned into a bunch and I have never looked back. Spinning reels I like Pflueger, lot of bang for the buck, I still own and use many Pflueger spinning reels some more than 10 years old and have never been sorry I purchased them.
  20. Typically it is not the braided line itself that damages guides. It is the fact that braided line has a tendency to hang on to the very fine particles of suspended dirt, sand and other debris. This debris that becomes attached to the braided line can then act like a sort of very fine sanding paper. Overtime if the trapped particles are persistent enough you can end up with grooved guides. Use to be a more common occurrence when guides were sometimes made of SS without inserts or cheaper inserts that were not hard enough to protect themselves from being damaged in this manner.

  22. Had the chance to meet and talk with him at the Classic in Tulsa OK a few years back. It was a good time and interesting conversation.
  23. Yes, at least, and being it is a Falcon Rod, of which I own several, I might even consider the Heavy Fast if I knew I would be using the rod for baits 3/8oz and up.
  24. Moderate and Moderate/Fast rods are often thought of as rods to be used with treble hooks, so that you do not tear holes and lose fish. Faster action rods typically give a better hook set at the end of a long cast with thick wire single hook especially if the hook is to penetrate a gill plate or roof of the mouth. Good luck.
  25. Is there a reason you are going with two Mod-Fast rods?
