  • About Me
I’ve been a bass angler for about 3 years now and fished pike and eye for a few years before. When I’m not at work I’m fishing unless the water is frozen than I’m playing hockey. I mostly fish from my kayak or boat although sometimes from land.

  1. Curado greenie? Like a 300 size? Or 200?
  2. Ya it’s a heavy fast, compared to my MH fast rods in similar length the tip is fairly firm. I live in Canada so we don’t have as heavy grass like in southern states but I’ve pulled some bass out of decent thick weeds with it and have never had a problem with the rod. I don’t have any of the older models but it compares to my buddy’s 200$ frogging rod ( whitch by the way, just a little fun fact, doesn’t have the power or action labels on it it just says “frogging rod”? )
  3. Aldebaran mg or my scorpion metanium xt. They’re both my mid to cheaper reels but theres just something I love about them!
  4. My one friend had to send in an Antaries DC ( I think that’s how you spell it ) for service after having it for a couple weeks and it took nearly 4 months for them to return it. I love Shimano it’s probably my favourite real company but I find sometimes there services are Hit or miss. Glad to hear yours was so quick and painless ??
  5. Fenwick HMX 7’6”. I picked one up in Canada for about 120$ so if you’re in the states you can probably get a cheaper or wait till they are on sale. I’ve been using it for about a year now and it’s my go to frog Rod. Strong enough that you can pull pretty much anything out with it light enough that you won’t get tired after using it all day (in my opinion) and it won’t break the bank either.
  6. I bought a curado dc just before winter last year and I love it the dc just makes everything so easy you really don’t need to adjust anything once you have it set up. And it can bomb mid sized crank baits and spinner baits. It can also throw lighter lures but not as well as the mgl (In my opinion) As for the chronarch my friend I fish with has one and it’s normally the first thing he grabs for using soft plastics But he doesn’t like it as much for cranking. (although it is really smooth) I supose like all things it depends on what you want to do with it. But hey they are both good Shimanos so you should probably get both ???
  7. I want to put it on my shimano aldebaran mg and use that for medium sized fineness rigs like trick worms and different kinds of weightless plastics. Cam
  8. Awesome thanks everyone! I’m going to pick some up this weekend !
  9. hey y’all I don’t know if this topic has been done before but I’ve been reading a lot about yo zuri hybrid line, but I don’t actually know what it is. can anyone fill me in on what the difference between this and other line ? I just picked up a 2009 aldebaran MG and I was thinking about putting this on my real would that be a good choice? Thanks everyone for your time
  10. I would do something like that but I’m a little worried about the anti-reverse bearing. It slips a little when I jerk it after fixing a backlash, I mean best answer is not to backlash but it still worry’s me a little.
  11. Thanks y’all for the help, after playing around with it I think I’m going to put new bearings in it and use it as more of a finesse reel, personality I found it casted better with 12 pound fluorocarbon. Anyone have any suggestions for bearing to use?
  12. Hey all, this is my first post and I need the help from all the reel and shimano junkies out there, recently bought this shimano reel as a fishing challenge. I didn’t do any looking into for this reel and since buying it I haven’t been able to find much about it. I was wondering if anyone has used one or owns one and could tell me anything about it, it’s a Shimano scorpion metanium XT. From all I could find I guess it was made from 99-04. Thanks all, looking forward to hear from you!
