  1. I started the vid, just to see what the 'hype' was about...saw it was Randy...stopped the vid. Certain techniques I go straight braid, but most of the time I've got a leader on.
  2. If I'm using FC for a leader....it's InvizX.
  3. Fishidy has a few mentions of LMBs being caught in Bailey. Don't know if it's the lack of reporting, or a severe shortage of them that has so few mentions. https://www.fishidy.com/map/us/texas/burleson-ponds There's also some old (2010-2011) reports of LMBs coming out of Bailey as well on another forum https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/5017284/Bailey_lake_hidden_creek_in_bu
  4. When you're trying to make ends meet on minimum wage, you take all the advantages you can. I don't keep dinks, but if it's fair sized, it goes home to the freezer. I'd say 2-3 meals a week are of fish I've caught...whether bass, trout, walleye, pike or panfish it doesn't matter - if it's eating size, it gets eaten.
  5. Yep - happens here in MN. Bass season doesn't close until Feb 24, 2019. Ice is already strong enough on some of the smaller bays and sub-lakes of Minnetonka for portable ice-houses to be up. So some bass fishermen are already out there with drop-shots trying to entice bites.
  6. That depends on two factors 1) The base diameter of the spool - a larger spool picks up more line per turn 2) How much line is on the spool - a half-empty spool will pick up line slower than a mostly full spool. The gear ratio is still a baseline measurement that gives a general indication of how fast you'll pull line back in.
  7. Yours too? It's our State Bird as well. What is it about 'Northern Tier' states? Is it something Canada is sending us?
  8. I'd go to a hobby shop and get an enamel paint from there. Testors or Testors Model Master brands. Most hardware paints are acrylics and don't hold up as well as enamels.
  9. Minnesota's a little more restrictive. Bass through the ice is legal until Feb 24 when the season closes, then from May 11-May 24 it'll be catch-&-release only until the full season opens again on the 25th
  10. Oh I get that. Halloween 1991 we had a 3-day storm that dumped almost 30" of snow on us. Guess who had to drive 20 miles each way all three days of that, in a sedan, because of work?
  11. I wasn't talking accumulation, yes our averages are less, but I was talking about our reaction when it snows. It snows, we shrug our shoulders and go 'no big deal, it's winter, that's what happens'.
  12. I MAY eventually end up spending a few hundred before next opener in May. Only (minor) gripe I have is the shipping time on Standard. Ordered a new tackle bag from Cabela's, and boxes for it from TW on the same day. Got the bag Thursday, still waiting for the boxes. It's minor though - doesn't prevent me from spending money there.
  13. I'm gonna (sadly) put that off a couple weeks. April 27, 2019 - at least for Minnetonka.
  14. ...and this is why you never let a co-angler play with *your* electronics.
