  1. Yeah it was awesome, I love my yak. And it’s going to be a huge help this spring during the spawn.
  2. I got my wilderness systems ride 135 for $450 and it’s a stable platform, good enough that I can throw 8” Hudds from it with an 8’ rod. Just keep a look out for kayaks in the area. I saw a bunch of good ones off Facebook market place actually. But I live in San Diego so water sports are really popular in my area. Good luck!
  3. I live in San Diego, I fish Santee occasionally because I can take my kids fishing without renting a boat. Right now it’s post spawn summer transition, fish are roaming. Water clarity ranges in the lakes from like 1’-5’ of visibility. I finesse fish a lot there due to the constant pressure those fish see. But weightless senkos work well, along with drop shotting. Late evening I’d bring topwater because it goes off at night! Also pitching jigs works well into the tule’s you can reach. Lastly the depths are no more than like 15’ I believe. Think pond fishing not lake.
  4. Like mentioned before, once the shad spawn happens the bass will fatten up after resting for a few days. I still use reaction baits but I downsize my baits. So rather than a swimjig with a 4.8” trailer I drop down to a 4.3” on a under spin or flashy swimmer hook. Or even smaller worms rather than my normal 8” worms. Good luck! Castaic can be difficult at times, try drop shotting or Carolina rigging.
  5. Active duty Navy. 7 years in!
