  1. I havent tried that but it probably would. I dont remember my old Garmin 720s making noise like this. Ive only ever owned two fish finders. I want to say it didnt do this when I first got it. I had another issue I sent it to Simrad for, then when I got it back it was making this noise.
  2. You can hear the sonar coming from my Simrad unit. Its extremely annoying. Anyone ever have this happen? I recorded it. You can really hear it at :56 second mark.
  3. Ok. Thanks. Now I am kind of leaning towards Springfield Spring-Lock http://www.springfieldgrp.com/products/spring-lock-clip-lock-series What length post would you recommend? Since this will be for a folding chair I am thinking their "Sit down" post 13.5-20in.
  4. No. Will be buying the whole setup.
  5. I am planning on getting a folding pedestal seat for the bow but don't know much about them. It seems they come in 2 sizes? 1.77in and 3/4in. What size is commonly used for a folding seat on the bow? I'm guessing 3/4? I was thinking about getting one of these... http://www.attwoodmarine.com/store/product/3/4--Pin-Posts--Power-Pedestal-Adjustable--w/-Seat-Mounts What is the difference between power and manual? Do most people go with threaded or non-threaded?
  6. Ah ok. Ive been wanting to try dropshotting, seems like a good way to fish mucky spots.
  7. What is the bubba shot / powershot? Ive been using Carolina rigs for mucky bottoms, works pretty good. This new pond Ive been fishing seems to have a lot less muck on the bottom. Think I might try the ned rig on it. I tried the ned rig in some of the other ponds and it just dont work with all the slime. I fished the less mucky pond today and caught about 5, all small though. This is the pond where I saw all the beds. Im wondering where are the bigger ones are. There has to be some bigger ones in there, just dont know where.
  8. Sorry I should have clarified, I use artificial only. I kind of get the feeling the bass might be in the deepest parts of the ponds, at least in the hotter parts of the day. There's not really much cover for them to get shade from anywhere else, at least the pond I fished yesterday. One thing that was cool was there was lots of beds, some of them pretty d**n big, but no big fish in them as I guess spawning is over.
  9. I started bass fishing recently in small ponds around St. Augustine FL. I just do it from the bank, no boat. I was wondering what lures I should be using now that the temperatures are heating up and I'm guessing the bass are done spawning. Some things to take into consideration are these ponds have little to no structure. They're either retention ponds or golf course ponds. Some have a lot of algae slime near the bank or bottom. The one I fished today had less algae and was basically a rectangle with only sporadic grass where the water was about 6in to 2ft deep. I dont know how deep these ponds are at their deepest but I image its not very deep. The golf course ponds are still basically retention ponds but they let aquatic plants grow in and around them. Some have a few lily pads, cat tail and other things but most of the grass is just around the banks. But these ponds do have fish. I have caught bass, blue gill, sun fish, bofin and saw some gar.
  10. Thanks for the replies. I was doing some reading and people were suggesting Ned Rigs for cold snaps. Anyone try this?
  11. I'm from north Florida and just started bass fishing. I've been doing alright but I've been skunked last 2 trips including today. Me and a buddy put a canoe into a secluded pond in the woods that we thought would be on fire but not so much as a bite. The pond holds bluegill and bofin so I'm sure there has to be some bass in there. The only thing I can think of is we just got a hard cold snap, as far as Florida goes. We threw some worms and I had a jig with frog trailer. We fished around the bank which had a nice variety of cover, lily pads, trees, grass. And I also threw into the center a couple times thinking maybe the fish went down deep because the water might be warmer. Any ideas?
