  2. over the summer i had an absolute giant come off. it was at dawn, and i was throwing a jig in a cove. This lake has some nice fish, and holds my current pb, and the last one, and the last one, and so on. i got a huge bite on my dirty jigs football jig n set the hook and it honestly felt like trying to turn a log that would come up but resist some. I didnt even know it was a fish until a few seconds into the fight when it really started pulling and it eventually got off. Im thinking it was in the 9-10lb range, absolute brute. but then again that just gives you another reason to go out there and catch that one you lost, so its not necessarily a terrible thing losing fish if you look at it that way.
  3. hey yall, i made an account here but havent really posted anything. I thought this post would be a good start. over this weekend, I caught 2 really nice bass at my local lake. One was on a 7" berkely powerworm in tequila sunrise & the other which was my PB on a whopper plopper size 90. Im thinkin the smaller guy was high 6's and the bigger one (my new pb) was in the 8 range. These bass in central NC are moving up and getting ready to spawn if they havent already started.. both were real fat. anyone have any estimates weight wise? here are a few pics of the fish: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hB9wjL877hEeJ9uap7nqq8hBTAJy8tPMfV76WfA4UP0/edit?usp=sharing
  4. french broad river is pretty good for smallmouth when the water isnt muddy&high. lake julian is a good bet since in the colder months warmer water is discharged into lake julian by the energy plant next to the lake itself. there are spotted and largemouth bass in julian, so if you want to cross spotted bass off your bucket list of fish to catch thats a good place to do that. there are also muskie in the fb & lake james about an hr out of asheville. lake james has really good smallmouth fishing too btw
