  1. Right now in SW Louisiana the Tokyo rig is catching as long as it’s a super slow presentation and with a lure that doesn’t have a whole crap ton of movement. The Tokyo rig “wire” is much stiffer than that of the Jika rig and I believe longer. Just my experience as far as the difference in the two though.
  2. Caught on a 1/8oz Texas Rigged BPS River bug in watermelon with red flake. No scale and when I tried to take a pic with him laid down next to my rod and reel he about flopped onto some thick brush. My guess was between 3-4lbs though, quite possibly my PR if I had my scale.
  3. Quiet you!
  4. Who me???? Count me in
  5. Most of mine came on the 2.4 inch Dark Sleeper believe it or not. Even on the back side of Conway where the grass was thick I still caught them one after the other. I usually have good luck with a 6th Sense swim jig with a small trailer like a Keitech or a 3.8 inch SK swimbait.
  6. 30+ south of I-10 but you already know that lol. Water was moving in and we did some serious damage.
  7. Local academy here in Lake Charles has them. Should be picking up a couple tomorrow. Didn’t know they had them
  8. There’s no denying that. I had been looking for a smaller profile frog and just so happen to see their top water video last week i think. As for the trash fish, I’ve seen so many people talk about them and rave about them so I had to give it a shot lol.
  9. Rather small purchase compared to most others on here but I’m pumped about this package. Not sure which one I’m more excited about but the trash fish I can’t wait to tie on. Little Allen color and Bluegill on the frogs. Just Shad and ghost hitch for the trash fish
  10. I’ve got a pair of the Magellan brand boat shoes that look similar to the under Armour Kilchis. They’re awesome. Have the elastic laces that are tension based and breathe really well.
  11. 25% off 6th Sense soft plastics. Use code: SP25
  12. 3.8 not too big, not too small
  13. Tacklewarehouse has some special edition colors that are legit. But as for regular Keitechs: Pro Blue Pearl Crystal Shad Sight Flash silver flash minnow
  14. Only ones I’ve kept in the clamshell has been the Keitechs. Rage craws have been fine in a deep Plano pro patch.
  15. Fitzgerald rods BASSMASTER20 gets you 20% off everything.
  16. I’ve used and lost a lot of these and they’re still one of my favorite swimbaits or lures in general. Like most others have mentioned, the hooks leave something to be desired. I’ve lost many a nice fish and even some smaller ones when the lure gets thrown out of the fishes mouth. The hook isn’t the strongest either. I’ve thrown mine parallel to some lillies and such and had to really pull on it to get it out of some thicker pads and grass. Never fails, the hook bends. Even just a little bit and you’re in a bind. I’ve caught most of my fish on the 3/8. The most productive color for me is the Donko. I’ve used it on the Sabine River here in Louisiana and Texas and thrown right behind my father in law and got the fish he missed. It most definitely catches fish and they’re fairly durable. I don’t mind buying one or two here and there just for the numbers of fish I’ve caught.
  17. 18 Dodge Durango I’m fortunate enough to have this as my unmarked unit for work. I’m also fortunate enough to have a whole lot of storage space in it. I’ve got a Zebco Dock demon with me at all times conveniently placed next to the rifle rack built into the rear of the car. There’s been times when I’ve gotten home late from a tournament and left 4-5 rods and reels in my car and just gone to work the next day without removing them. Where the 3rd row seats are supposed to be I’ve got 2 large storage compartments one of which contains a tackle bag with some terminal tackle and some of my favorite plastics. On days when we get to leave early, or even on days when I’ve had to actually work, I was able to grab a rod and reel and “pretend” to fish a pond or whatnot. All the while gathering valuable info that we’d be unable to get otherwise.
  18. To add to this, I’ve had a lot of success deadsticking them on the bottom. The Albino, pro blue pearl, and smokin Shad have all produced even in the slowest of times.
  19. Dark Sleeper has been an all around great performer for me this year.
  20. Academy has the Military and First Responder 10% off discount back until the 11th.
  21. 12-15lb big game here. Sometimes the redfish will hit a frog or buzz bait
  22. I’m a fan of a swim jig if I’m gonna stay on the outside of the pads. I’ve had more success throwing a frog like a Booyah pad crasher or even a hollow body Ribbit and work it slow on top.
  23. I’ve used the Buckeye lures spot remover in 3/16 for a good while now wand I’ve had zero issues. Used it on the Zoom Finesse worm and the Biospawn Plasmatail
  24. Fished the Sabine River Sunday and launched at Nibletts Bluff park in Vinton, LA. Was really pumped for the top water bite after having a lot of success on a 3/8oz War Eagle Buzzbait. Top water bite was on but not like it has been in recent memory. Picked up my 3/8oz 2.4in Dark Sleeper in Donko color and decided to initially treat it like a drop shot rig for the fish that my buddy would miss while throwing a Buzzbait. Well, once the sun got good and up there and we decided top water was done, it was game on with the DS. I’ve only once had so much success with one lure and that was on Rayburn throwing a Carolina rig. Between myself and my buddy we caught 31 bass. I caught so many on my DS that the face disappeared and the eyes were gone as well. Hook up ratio was really excellent. Was throwing it on a Fitzgerald Bryan Thrift series 6’ 6” MH/F jerkbait, spinnerbait, crankbait Rod with 15lb Big Game. Water was stained with little movement in the morning. Stayed cloudy most of the morning before giving way to absolutely nothing but sun and heat. Only downside to the DS, the price $5.99 here locally in Lake Charles. I lost 3 after finding some sunken debris (no electronics and such) But for the numbers that I put up on it in 5 hours on the Sabine, I’ll most definitely be buying more.
