  1. Has anyone ever purchased from them? They are in the Czech Republic, and have a good rating. Their prices on abu spinning reels are aggressive and I figured with PayPal I would be safe. It seems like reels are pretty price fix like knives from the big companies. I would appreciate any input, maybe there are closer places to get a deal. Thanks in advance... Russ
  2. In my opinion, you are more trouble than you are worth. for every nugget of wisdom you shell out yoy are a total jerk to about 5 people. I pick and choose my info on here, but I have have seen enough to realize what a jerk you are. It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice. A moderator like you can wreck a site, do your best... Russ
  3. I dont want to jinx myself, but here it goes. Long story short, long time saltwater, fished for bass last 2 years with my college aged son. Nothing but spinning gear, great success with plastics/jerkbaits and lipless hard baits. Last fall I bought a black max baitcast combo on clearance at a large box store for 29$, figured what the heck, the reel is worth that. Proceeded to put 30# braid on it, practice a bit, then have modest success with foootball jig and beaver trailer. Fast forward to a month ago, sale at dicks, bought a lews tournament MB and a dobyns 734 fury rod. Spooled 14# mono on and the lights went on. Set up following guidelines on here and what an eye opener!!! This sucker will cast a 1/4oz jig and trailer a Maine mile. I am also throwing 6" worms wacky style and they fly too. I have not backlashed once yet, this reel is amazing! I keep loosening the spool tension but the spool still is behaving well and will stop with no thumb. I was always careful with the cheap abu set up and it treats me well but with the upgraded rig I am amazed by the casting distance and the no backlashes. Surely I will have my blow up but so far so good. I learn so much here, what a great site! Russ
  4. I ask these questions before I make a purchase. I would rather be warned away from a product beforehand than "fish" for reassurance that I did the right thing after the fact. There is so much info here, if I buy something that doesnt work out it is because I didnt do my research first. Russ
  5. Hi, fell in love with a stradic 2500 at dicks. Was gonna treat myself then I hear about a lighter/ stronger?? ci4 version. I guess I am wondering if it worth the extra cabbage? Probably would end up on my mojo worm rod and I would switch my revo x 2000 to an even lighter rod. I like instant gratification and dicks is 3 miles away but I would order the ci4 if it is appreciably nicer. Thanks for reading my query, I look forward to hearing your opinions... Regards, Russ
  6. That is a healthy, attractive fish, congrats... Russ
  7. Got the Dicks version spinning combo for 25% off. I thought it was a great deal. I have 6 spinning set ups and the crush rod is quite respectable, only my mojo worm rod is more sensitive. The guides really seem to aid in casting and the reel is smooth and the drag does not stick. I like the color, it goes well with the lime green rod from the company who I know not to mention. If I can get another for the price of the first I will be on it. One other point I will make, Lews staff are awesome to chat with, I have honestly called them to ask one minor question and end up shooting the breeze for 10 minutes. I like that, this is supposed to be fun and they get that. Regards, Russ
  8. Thanks guys, waiting for my son, who is a college senior down the road to wake up so we can fish. Tempted to go grab the lews mach 1 casting combo while I am waiting, with coupons i am only in for 80 bucks. I will be around, the weather change has me looking for answers that I bet you have. Regards, Russ
  9. Hi, up in central maine, have a place and land downeast also. Grew up fishing freshwater, moved south and fished saltwater exclusively for years. Son who is a recent college has been slamming bass convinced me to put line on an old rig and come with him. 2 kayaks, a trolling motor, fishfinder and 5 new spinning rigs and a modest baitcasting rig later I think it is time to join. Will be around, thinking about trying a high quality baitcast rig, everyone I know fishes spinning. Anyway, nice site, thanks for letting me in. Russ
