  1. I agree with S Sass. The lake can be tough with the ever changing conditions. The skiff will get you out there, but you will be limited. Book a guide and get on the fish.
  2. You will need a flag, and if you don't have an extra battery, bring your oars. Grinding up weeds with your TM will drain the battery quicker.
  3. Sounds like a great day on the water. It is 45/20 here. Definately missing the swamp.
  4. Regarding the weeds, a gaff hook with a 3-5 foot handle works good to pull the weeds awsy from the outboard motor. Put a piece of cork on the tip of the hook when not in use and store it if you have space. I used to love fishing Lox when I lived nearby. Tranquil and sometimes good fishing. When the water was flowing out of the flats, I would try to find areas with had higher current at the edges of the flats. When water was stable, the edges and holes in the hydrilla were good for some action. If you can get back into some areas that are hard to get into, isolated little ponds, those can be real good also. Just dont get lost or stuck.
  5. Just progress from slacks and jeans into buffet stretchable sweat pants. 8.00 per pair at Wally World vs 80.00 at Mens Warehouse. 10 years ago, before I got married, I weighed 250 which is my ideal weight at 6'5 I got there by working out 2X per day 3 times per week, 1 hour cardio, and 1 hour free weights/ machines each visit.. I ate only huge salads with 20 year balsamic and chicken breast / steak / eggs- 3 times per day for 4 months. I went from 310 to 250. Then I got married to a great cook. Now I weigh 325 LOL
  6. My brother had issues with the front end alignment on his 2012 Duramax. Also, the back window seal leaked and rust started to appear. In addition to the engine comparisons, you should also look at overall reviews, complaints, and over all favor-ability.
  7. Just like the car Boats in "Live and let Die"
  8. Never made it to that canal but it looks beautiful. Shame it is closed.
  9. I caught a large pickerel (4-5 lb) at Lox 5 years ago. It was my first there.
  10. Hello guys. Just dropped in to BR to read some threads. I am jonesing for some bass fishing. Been three years. I hope to visit in fall of 2017 and get my fill of Lox, Holiday, and the alley. Tight lines and good fishing
  11. Why is it called interceptor canal?
  12. The excess flood waters from the sugar fields and other agricultural should be contained on the farm property until it has been cleaned in their own marshes. It is their problem and they should foot the bill and not dump it onto state and public canals. Big sugar has been sending its fertilizer water into the lake during the wet years since the lake was constructed. They also pull the needed water from the lake for irrigation during drought years at the expense of the need for some outflow east, south, and west. IMHO, the agricultural farms south of the lake should all be closed and the natural north to south marsh flood plain flow should be restored. The establishment and political favors will never allow it. This has been kicked around for 40 years and nothing has changed.
  13. Nice PB Barehook Jr! Many bass fisherman with years under their belt do not get a DD bass. Congrats!
  14. Where is this lake exactly? Coral Cay?
  15. Super easy and delicious Rosemary Apple/sugar glazed turkey. Wash Fresh turkey with water/kosher salt, rinse. Put inside a oven bag Separate skin from meat 3 sprigs of rosemary each side under skin Combine 4 cups apple cider with 1/2 cup sugar - warm until disolved into syrup liquid Quarter and core 3 apples and quarter 2 onions - put inside the bird and around the bird Pour 1/3 glaze mixture between the skin and meat, 1/3 inside the bird, and the rest over the top Seal bag. Bake according weight. Do not over cook. Juicy and apple sweet, including the breast meat.
