  1. Hi I stayed in Woodstock on holiday which is not far from you. I had some great fishing at the recommended places on the post above. Also fished the white river with the fly rod for trout and have been told that there are bass in it. The Vermont fishing site is a good research tool as well. https://vtfishandwildlife.com/fish/boating-in-vermont/fishing-access-areas Peter
  2. A quick update. I had a great holiday in Woodstock and found the recommended places to fish and caught a lot of small Bass. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Thanks again for the tips, I will come back at some point in the future. Peter
  3. Thanks Boomstick & Mainebass. Sorry it has taken so long to reply but I am afraid The forum would not let me in due to my profile not being complete. I am due In Vermont around the 20th so will make sure to have a look and fish at Lake Bomoseen, Lake Dunmore & Lake St. Catherine Thanks again Peter
  4. Hello All. I will be visiting Woodstock Vermont in mid May for some fishing and wondered if anyone has some suggestions of where I can bank fish for LMB. I have a trout guide booked for a couple of sessions and he has suggested Deweys Pond & Hartland. Not looking for your secret spots just a few pointers. Thanks in advance. Peter
  5. Hello All. I am glad I read this and feel for your friend with his near miss. I have just bought a Kayak and have not used it yet, so all of the above is very helpful and informative. My plan is to start on still water and then move to rivers when I have more experience and completed a safety course. Thanks Peter
  6. Hi Sam. How long have you got, Fishing in Europe for Perch ( current record 6lb +) is a bit more in line with what bass fishers in the States would call finesse or pan fish style fishing. Pike and Zander (walleye) is pretty much in line with what you do. Here in the UK all waters get fished hard so what fish there are have seen it all before and bait fishing is more popular than lure fishing. We also love and cherish the carp over here. Peter
  7. Hi Marherme. My friends live in Galicia, we tried to get a rod licence last time I was there but gave up. I have also looked at going to Extremadura but my fishing and travel friend has moved to Holland so things are on hold until 2019. Thanks for the offer of help with the rod licence. Fancy bumping into Tim Kelly fellow L.A.S member and fellow Londoner on here. Peter
  8. Hi Maherme Welcome. I want to try the Black Bass fish in Spain and have friends that live there BUT have never managed to sort out the fishing licence, its a major problem for a non resident. Where are you based. Peter
  9. Walleye or what we call Zander come from Europe and I think they were stocked illegally into various water and have spread across the country. Have a look at Anglian Water Grafham reservoir were the next record fish will come from but VERY hard to catch. https://anglianwaterparks.co.uk/grafham-water-park/predator-fishing Peter
  10. I like Vermont in the Spring,Summer and Fall but Winter its a tad too cold for me. I have visited Vermont and fished for Trout and LMB around the area of Woodstock where we have some friends living. A truly beautiful state. Peter
  11. Hi. Its a good eight hour flight from the U.K, we have been to Florida a few times and like the area around Lauderdale By The Sea. The pound to dollar exchange rate at the moment means its a bit pricey for us at the moment. Peter
  12. Thanks You for the warm welcome. To answer Darren's question, I tend to fish baitcasters and rods between six and seven foot for the Perch. Pike and Zander call for longer and heavier gear. My best Perch is 4 lb plus, Pike 26lb and Zander around 12lb there are not many Zander in my part of the U.K as it is classed as an invasive species. I have fished in New England, Vermont and Florida for LMB and my biggest to date is about five pounds. My biggest Black Bass in Italy was about 2lb. All great fun. Peter
  13. Hello All I have just joined the forum after watching the YouTube videos for a few years now. Here in the U.K we do not have LMB but we do have big Perch up to 6lb ( a fish of dreams), large Pike and Zander ( Walleye) to 20lb. I do a lot of Perch fishing using what you would call finesse LMB tactics such as small jigs and drop shot. I do come over to U.S.A for the flyfishing for the trout and also Bass fishing but there is also Black Bass in Europe which is their name for LMB and I go looking for those when I get a chance. Looking forward to hearing from fellow anglers across the pond and learning new fishing tricks Peter
