  1. Thanks A-Jay. Looks perfect!
  2. I bought one from Dicks and needless to say it kept falling off. Anyone that has this yak that can recommend a good cart?
  3. Hey all. Looking for a place to get some fishing in when I’m up with my girlfriend in Hampstead. Anything with some shore access nearby?
  4. The Tournement uses Fuji K series guides. They’re not micro guides.
  5. Alternatively you could look at the Legend Tournament, beautiful rods.
  6. I actually just took a new job with a substantial pay increase, I'm thinking a truck may be closer than I was thinking. Just have to convince the lady... haha
  7. I was thinking of using Thule Dockgrips but rather than having the kayak floating I’d install them to stabilize the kayak and let the kayak rest against the cross bars as the grips are only rated for 85lbs. Would this solution work?
  8. I’ve got a 2016 Suburu Impreza Hatchback with factory side rails. I’m having a hard time figuring a solution to carry my new kayak for next season. I plan on getting a truck in the future, but till then this is what I’ve got. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks!
  9. I love smallie fishing! They're such beautiful fish and fun to fight!
  10. Thanks Tizi, anyone got info on a battery?
  11. I ordered a Old Town Predator MK, got a great deal. $2300 for the Kayak with shipping. Picked up a paddle and PFD for the discount, and am having them install a Helix 7 with GPS on it. Now i I know I can fit a group 24 battery in the holder, but I want a good battery close to 85A and am unsure of brands to use. What other essential accesories do people people have for their Kayaks
  12. I've also just purchased my first Yak, I've heard great things about standing in Bonafide. They just released the new RS107 @ $999 and I've watched video of guys standing on the edge of it to get it to flip. I'm 5'10" 240lb so I was also looking at stability, I purchased an Old Town. Got a good price and am really exited.
  13. Unfortunately that doesn't cover Kayak purchase. And they currently have a 15% accessories and free shipping going on. I'm looking to grab a Kayak for next season, but not sure what I want to get. Also am wondering what kind of Black Friday deals they may have and if it's worth waiting till the end of the month.
  14. I've also got 2 Legend Tourney Glass's 7'2 M and 7'4 MH, they're amazing rods.
  15. Looking to buy a Kayak around black friday (hoping that's when to get the best deals) and I am 5'10" 240lbs, I'd like the option to possible stand up and would like to put electronics on it as some point. I've come down to these 2 kayaks. Anyone have an opinion either way?
  16. Mama told me that snap swivels are the debil. Just to be clear I worked it all out with the knot. My frustration was due to when you cinch down the palomar with braid you don't need to hold the loop, where as with mono or fluoro you need to hold that loop till it's almost ready to cinch tight or it messes up the knot. I don't use swivels either. Though they do help with changing some lures, they don't fit in to all lures so I just make new knots when switching lures now.
  17. Never handled a Legend X, but I’ve got a Legend Tournement and I love it. Nice and light, and strong.
  18. I’ve been fishing for only about 4 months now. But I’m convinced that bass aren’t line shy. Almost all my setups are 40lb braid, with the exception of my frog rod (65) and my 2 finesse rods (10 spinning setup and 15 casting setup). I have no issues catching fish even into the colder weather now. Water temps are getting down into the 40’s. I adjust drag as needed to compensate for the lack of give in braid. I get increased sensitivity from the braid, and I’ve never broken line off on a catch. I do match baits to proper rods. I.E Moderate action for cranks. With treble baits, at night I find that fish are typically hogs going after the baits and they tend to miss a lot. Trying slowing down your retrieve and see if that helps. I caught a 6lb the other night on a walking bait. He missed the first time, I let the bait sit for 10 sec and walked it slow and got him.
  19. Right, I'd be actively fishing using the exact lures you've described. I would never troll, I'd fall asleep. I'll be hitting the water from docks and walls mostly, not the beach. I don't think an 8ft rod will be necessary.
  20. A lot of my work buddies fish salt water. Looking at a setup for striper. Shimano Curado K G. Loomis 7’4” Heavy Mod-Fast I'm thinking I should upgrade the drag on the Curado, should I do anything else to it? Gonna run 40lb Braid on it. This setup should be more more than enough for striper ya?
  21. I started fishing again back in August for the first time in about 20 years. I feel like I've picked things up fairly well. I've caught several 4-4.5lb bass between now and then and honestly it's taken over my life haha. Tonight I was out doing some night fishing and caught my new PB! Super excited when I pulled this guy out of the water, I could tell he was gonna be huge. It was a great fight! I was fishing on a St. Croix Premier MH F with a Curado DC and a super flook look alike I got from a LTB box. ? Came in at just over 6lb, I'd say between 6lb 2oz, 6lb 4oz
  22. 7" M 3/16oz to 5/8oz 6-12lb - Abu Garcia Veritas - Finesse 7' MHF 1/4oz to 3/4oz 8-14lb - Abu Garcia Villain - Could use this for jigs, Weighted t-rigs, spinner baits, chatterbaits.
  23. Did you not read what I said Tom? Look again, model is stated there.
  24. This was hard to find, BPS offers the Shimano Teramar Southeast Spinning Rod 7' or 8' rated at 1/2oz to 2oz Heavy Mod/Fast... Has good reviews and is affordable. As for reel size, I'd throw braid, 50-65lb so a 4000 of your choice.
  25. If you are looking into a casting setup. Look at G. Loomis E6X Heavy Mod/Fast 7’4”. It’s rated 1/2oz to 2oz. I use it for swim treble hook baits like the s waver, and whopper ploppers. Very versatile rod, good action. Could even use it for single hook lures. Pair it up with a reel of your liking and have a good time.
