  1. As the title says, what are y’alls thoughts on the new Tokyo rig they showed off at Icast? Personally I’m interested in how different if any the action is compared to just a plain Texas rig with a loose or pegged tungsten on it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/VMC_Tokyo_Rig_2pk/descpage-VMCTR.html. Here is the link if you haven’t seen them.
  2. Some people tailor their gear ratio to the type of bait they are throwing or certain techniques , while others just prefer speeding up or slowing down their hand to get similar results but stick to 1 gear ratio. Personally I prefer mine in the 7.4:1 range tho I do have a 6.something on a rod I tend to crank with. So basically it’s what you like. But 7.whatever is a good all around ratio.
  3. I’ve been looking at and thinking about those TCS rods as my next purchase haven’t heard anything bad about them but I’m a favorite rods fan boy ?, love my phantom.
  4. Thanks for the info. Mainly I’ll reserve the DS for fishing on or around crappie brush piles.
  5. Hoping Scott takes the cup this year.
  6. Hey guys and gals, 99% of the time you hear people talking about drop shot fishing they are talking about bronze backs in clear northern water. I have a 7’ BC rod that I want to turn into a jerkbait and drop shot rod. What kind of success could I expect in stained and murky water fishing for LMB and crappie?
  7. Yes I can see some green in there but to me bronze-ish works. When I first got it and took it on the water green was not the color that came to mind. Not it a big deal everyone sees things differently.
  8. Yes to both. It’s whine is music to my ears and the color is kind of bronze-ish on the drag and such. Looks very nice
  9. I have slick 8 on one of my rigs and love it... really want to get my hands on some slick 8 v2 when it comes out.
  10. I use tungsten for everything except drop shot and crappie fishing.
  11. Ouch... we lefties have it hard enough as it is without all that hate. Have you ever tried to find left handed coffee mugs? And when you do find them they are marked up 10 fold compared to right hand mugs?. Yes +1 means it’s left hand retrieve.
  12. I have a spool of seagar 65lb Flippin braid. It’s 8 carrier (think it’s Radial as well but don’t quote me on that). I haven’t put it on a reel yet but it feels high quality to me and is nice and smooth to the touch. It’s pricey but I wanted to give it a try and I like the 50lb seagar smackdown braid which I have cast and it is nice.
  13. Setting one is minimal breaking assistance so you still have to work it with your thumb some (it’s just more forgiving then a non dc reel) The day I got mine in I had a backlash or two on some cheap line just getting a feel for it on setting one.
  14. I have two Shimano reels that I love and would recommend to anyone and everyone, but there are many ways to skin a cat....fish?(boom dropping the dad jokes) I also own a reel by “those who must not be named” that I also love. I know some people that are fans of the Johnny Morris stuff from bass pro if that’s your thing.
