  1. Paul well done. Thank you! Where is this lol I can’t find it.
  2. What am I going to experience physically when fishing a fast vs a medium or any other. I have a fast and I have a medium. The medium feels like it’s got more bend and less control. What am I looking to notice?
  3. I’m going to check them out!
  4. I’m thinking Mojo Bass or Veritas? Thoughts on either or any others. $150 is all you got to spend, how are you spending it?
  5. Why not choose this? https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/shakespeare-ugly-stik-elite-casting-rod?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&affcode_c=&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrK3Elqil3gIVD4vICh1ykAycEAQYASABEgJwnPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  6. Maybe I need to reconsider rods... I have been using an ugly stick forever and you can tie that thing in a knot.
  7. I purchased a Casting MHF 7.1 Mojo Bass. I paired it up with a Curado Dc. I loved the set up, but on the first day of using it... it broke. I think I was high sticking or maybe it cane damaged. I decided after my refund refund, I would order an Avid X MHF 7ft. And here is my delimma. I feel no matter what lure or line I use, I just can’t get the same cast distance with it. Here is my delimma in which I ask you experienced fisherman for some advice. 1. The Avid X feels more like a Medium, not a MH. The Mojo felt like it had more beef. 2. Cast distance, I would say I could easily cast 15%-20% further with the Mojo Bass than the Avid X. 3. Yes the Avid X is much lighter and definitely better made. I feel that the micro guides almost slow down the line instead of it being faster and smoother. I kind of want to go back to my Mojo Bass, I just feel it was better for the action. I’m just afraid of it being less superior in build quality. Maybe going up to a 7.4 would be better for the Avid X, but trailing on the shore and walking around the woods would be a challenge. Thoughts?
  8. I readjust each time. Minor though
  9. Just set it like your normally do a bait caster. The manual suggests you just tighten it until the spool no longers shifts from side to side. I find it better to just drop the lure until it hits the ground with no backlash at a slow drop pace.
  10. Does braid affect rod breakage?
  11. I had originally planned for that one, but a high stick is a high stick no?
  12. You basically adjust the brake tension until the spool stops wobbling. That is their suggestion on when it is set correctly. I ignore that, I simply place on a lure and adjust until it hits the ground and doesnt backlash.
  13. Having not used a bait caster in 20 years, I was using this like a huck it and chuck it not expecting it to back lash. I dont think you should set it as they suggest. Focusing on the spool not wobbling to know when its set right. Bottom line, set it up like a regular bait caster and it sails. I love it!
  14. I tested it against a curado k. It casts maybe 10-20 feet more on average. It is not perfect with backlashing. It’s not backlash proof but it is pretty close to it. I counted 56 cranks at 31 inches per turn is about 170-180 ft using 80% strength. I love it. That was using a 1/8 sinker, a senko, 4 O hook and 15lb mono. Today i used 40lb braid and was getting a little less but not much. Other fisherman looked at me like i had three heads. DC for the win, curado k returned. DC being fished outcasting everyone I have talked to and have tried it.
  15. My first rod is a medium 6.6 ugly stick. You can tie that thing in a knot. I needed a rod for more power from the bank to get me out of the vegatation snags and continuous line breaks from heavy lures. So I ended up with a 7.1 MHF rod to help me power through that. I still like it I possibly need to adjust my fishing. I’m pretty new at it and those fish in my pics were fighters and strong. Should I switch it for a medium powered? Would it take more vend? I was using 40lb braid and a curado dc. Just nervous using this new one now.
  16. What did you end up getting?
  17. I watched that, I deff high sticked. Thank you for your help. i think what i learned here is keep 6 to 7 feet of line out and pull in the fish by line. Keep my rod no more than 45 degrees and pull straight back. If Im going to swing the fish its going to be one smaller than the size in my photos. Although the rodbuilder link suggests to hold it in your back hand, I will probally avoid that for a while. I wont be carrying a net s o Ijust need to be less excited and more controlled. Those fish were my pb, so adrenaline was going!
  18. I was also using 40lb braid. THe rod is rated up to 20lb line but it doesn’t state what type of line.
  19. I high sticked for sure. Thank you
  20. Yup. That’s what I did. What should I do? Keep it down and drag the fish in? I bought the mhf for power as I always get stuck in the grass and other vegatation. I felt like that was a good choice for that. I didn’t really buy it for sensitivity as much as power. I’m a little nervous now to break it again.
  21. Is it because it’s graphite or because it’s a MHF? I can switch it to a medium. I had it well over my head standing up. I’m not hat experienced here so possibly I caused the break.
  22. Third fish, I grabbed it by the line and rod and pulled it in and snap. Maybe I’ll drag it on shore next time. Guy at BPS said it happens and could of been damaged in freight but I don’t know. It’s rated for up to one ounce lure. The plopper was one ounce and straight 40lb braid. They gave me a new one. Third fish, I grabbed it by the line and rod and pulled it in and snap. 23. Caught three pigs today using a plopper and the 7.1MHF snapped liked a wishbone. Really blows my mind and messes with the confidence using it. What would cause this?
  24. Went out casting with 40 pound braid. Continued to get backlash and dig ins. Switch to mono and set brakes like a traditional caster. Ignored just trying to stop at the spool wobble like the instructions state. Casting about 150-170 ft. No backlashes.
