  1. Doesn’t seem like many parts moving. Seems pretty straight forward. Just wasn’t sure wear to oil. It doesn’t need anything probably. I just want to keep up with the oil and keep her clean.
  2. It’s been three years and I just scrubbed all my gear. I’ve never cleaned or oiled a baitcaster, let alone a DC. I’ve looked on the web and read the manual with nothing for specific for instructions. Is there anything specific I need to do different with a dc than if I look at some general YouTube videos for maintenance or oiling on standard baitcaster maintenance? It seems perfect, should I just leave it be? I don’t see any videos or instructions on the dc, so I’m asking you pros. Also going to oil the spinning reel, so if you have anything to add for content or helpful links. Please do share!
  3. Paired with a curado dc, it’s great. Problem is I feel I need a medium on the Arsenal. Everytime I use a spinning rod And I’m around cover which is a lot. It just isn’t as accurate for me. I have the ugly stick if needed for spinning, I just end Up using it like a baitcaster the best I can. So I’m thinking a medium fast tip and maybe 7ft would give me more control On senkos and keep the 734 for everything Else. Thoughts?
  4. I carry an ugly stick only because I may not feel like changing my lure. Perhaps the real answer is getting another curado dc and the lighter Dobyns or try out a expride. I compared a curado in hand on the same rod as my curado dc. I get at least 30 ft longer casts with a lot less chance of backlash. I got to keep reading, the Dobyns is serious but I’m tempted to try an expride. Thanks for your reply too!
  5. All really, I think my rod is just rated too heavy. Dobyns xp 734c.
  6. Well I just came back from the water. I’m using a curado dc and a Dobyns 734c. I think the rod is just too heavy For my applications for soft plastics. It works, but perhaps I buy a new rod first that’s got more give, then try the curado on that. I’d like to try a standard baitcaster, but this curado dc is just flawless with minimal backlash. I’m open to more advice and I appreciate everyone’s help here. I had a curado non dc and the dc just put performed it.
  7. Senko - every style. I mostly go with weight or weightless. Flipping and pitching, TR, Shakey, Whacky and occasional Dropshot.
  8. I just don’t know if I can use a spinning real, as I enjoy a bait caster so much. It’s accurate and to me I have more control. I need a light set up perhaps on a medium rod. How does a baitcaster stand up to spinning for this application. I have a MH rod which is to strong for the light presentations or even throwing it without birds nesting. How well will a baitcaster perform on a Med rod for finesse?
  9. Great stuff. Thanks for the inspiration lol. True though!
  10. I just took off 130 ft of braid, left a backing and popped on 12lb fluro. Have to change things up, ideally we have had a very late spring here and it’s June in CT. So slow bites across the area, my spinning rod has straight fluro. Regardless I’m in a slump, I feel as if I’m over thinking and I’m probably causing a lot more than I think. I need to Texas rig, whacky or shakey head things. It’s what I do best until I get more bites. I’m open for any advice guys, only been bass fishing three years. I’m doing everything you tube says so. I feel like I’m on the right track. Using 3/O and 4/O hooks. Took my son fishing with some shiners and things went well but that’s not my idea of fishing
  11. Bluegills in front of me seem drawn to it. Some even rub against it. My line is like a bluegill magnet. All my top water is straight braid. Besides that I run a 12lb leader. What about spinning gear, do people use a lot of braid with leaders? I usually use straight fluro.
  12. I’ve noticed the fish going after my braid or my fluro leader in the water. So obviously they are seeing it well. By the time the bait comes they look at it and I feel like they are laughing at me lol. I’m still catching bass but less frequently especially with spring here. I use a 30lb power pro and 10-12lb seaguar fluro leader. I don’t really use mono at all except my backing. My question is should I try straight fluro or mono on the bait caster? Also, what about braid for spinning? I usually fish around a lot of cover so I love the braid. I feel like I’m missing the fish though on many presentations. Losing some confidence here and I’m just not sure what to do now with line on my spinning or bait caster.
  13. I appreciate your info. I was a looking at Daiwa. I have the curado dc and the reel is awesome. Everyone has told me that if you’re spending money Around the 5 mark spend extra get shimano and if you want the best value for the Money. People also said get Daiwa that it is the brand to go with. I think at some point I’d look at Daiwa. Only going on what I’ve talked to people about and using my two curado reels I lean more that way. I’ve spent $2-$300 on combos and always regret it. Their stuff definitely looks cool and clearly has a strong reputation. I only look into gear as I’m about to buy. I don’t follow gear as much as I fish it. Too many hobbies, so I rely on this forum a lot. Thanks brother.
  14. Honestly. I think I might have to order the rod first anyway. At that point between those two it will come down to balance more for me probably. Why?
  15. I need a light precision spinning rod from the shore. 7ft MF Shimano Expride with a Stradic Ci4 2500. Best set up under $500 that’s light weight, sensitive and that’s quality. Prove me wrong before I buy!
  16. Appreciate that. What is the comparable Daiwa to a Stradic ?
  17. If you’re going all daiwa, what’s the top spinning reel?
  18. 7’3 though. Too long. I need something for the shore. My bait caster is 7’3.
  19. I think I’m going to pull the trigger on a Stradic ci4 2500 or Stradic FL. What’s a good rod $250 or less that’s going to give me as much sensitivity as my Dobyns Champion. I know a lot of you talk Daiwa reels too. What would you buy between $180-$250. I like the zodias but I believe it’s moderate and I’m not familiar with that tip.
  20. Wanting to hear what you’re all using for your top finesse set ups?
  21. I’ve only heard of great stuff about the dawai reels, I need to research more about them and the lighter dobyns. The dobyns I have is a work horse. When I posted on here everyone told me it’s a Heavy but acts more like a MH and it does to an extent. Are their other rods similar like that Where you need to go heavier? I’ve fished it hard for a year With this set up, even using it for stripers. I actually feel less challenged reeling one in compared to the lighter ugly stick lol it’s just a battle ax. The curator is great, just feel the 11lb drag could be beefed up.
  22. Broke like a twig, loved the rod but I may of broke two I believe before I decided it couldn’t handle my environment, my fish or my style. Any issues with the micro guides for you?
  23. I wanna say before I bought the dobyns/curado I was leaning towards a 6’9 avid x and a stradic. It was super light the two together and just felt right. The only thing is when I used the st croix is I snapped the mojo bass and got an avid x. It was sweet problem for me was the micro guides. Tying my leader with the bait caster would snag unless the knot was perfect. I believe it was a 7 mhf. Do I drop to a medium for finesse? Also I wouldn’t run braid on a spinning so maybe the micro guides wouldn’t be an issue. I’m open, haven’t been on the forum or market in a year. Hell yeah it’s a great stick. Not knocking it at all. I am around a lot of brush and weeds up in the northeast. I went with a tougher rod for that reason. The don’t s is a heavy I believe but feels much lighter. I’m thinking medium fast would be good, never used a medium light. I’m open to brand, wouldn’t mind spending less. Just a bad experience with $100 rod from St croix
  24. You guys helped me a lot when I bought my last rod. I have a Dobyns Champ xp 734 7’3 with a curado dc reel. The set up is just perfect for me except, for light tackle and areas where I need a smaller rod. I use my sons ugly stick when he isn’t around. It’s 6’6 medium and is a great stick for a beginner. I’m looking to replace that essentially and carry something with my main stick, but I need a much more sensitive pole Than a ugly stick that’s better quality. I’m thinking a spinning reel and a rod for when I’m in woods and tight areas or spots where I can’t manage the bait caster and as well, I’ll spend $200-$400. I usually am throwing a Texas rig, a shaky head or a swimbait as well as anything else on the dobyns it is great, but perhaps something a bit less for finesse and when I’m in tight areas. Let me know your thoughts.
