  1. Always worth checking! You could idle over a spot like that and look for fish in 5 mins. I've found that the real deep spots I've had success on don't seem to fire up until late in the summer. Worth keeping in mind if you're checking spots in June or July.
  2. From my experience up here in MN, I've found that offshore structure only holds large numbers of bass if its connected to shorelines by fairly shallow water. By shallow I mean a flat or saddle under 20'. Its seems that largemouth don't like to travel over deep basin areas without cover. I've fished some beautiful offshore spots that have been devoid of life - my theory is that the bass need a highway from spawning areas in order to get there.
  3. Spent some time on the city lakes this weekend. My summer patterns are definitely starting to break down and the fish seem to be spreading out. Caught some fish way up shallow, a few grinding a 6xd out deep and some n between. Unfortunately no +4 pound fish to show. Looking forward to things stabilizing a bit.
  4. Yeah, definitely some nice fish out there. My folks have a place on the west side but bass definitely average bigger on the east side. Lots of structure to pick apart in Frazer Bay, Diasy Bay and north of Pine Island.
  5. Hey FryDog, I've spent a little time on Rainy and a lot of time on Vermil. I've had much better success on V in the past and have caught some really big smallies up to 6#. By Sept and Oct, the shallow wood/dock bite has cooled off and most of our smallies have moved out to rocks in the 10'-20' zone. Can be tough to track em down but when you do, its game on! Plenty of 3# - 4# fish to be had, especially on the East side.
