  1. Nevermind....im an idiot..the micro sd card is inside the SD card! ...glad i didn't drive back up to bass pro and complain to the guy at the counter! ha
  2. I took the plunge and purchased the Helix SI unit this past weekend as well as the navionics gold. This is my first real fish finder and i wanted to see it in person and to talk to the so called "experts" so drove the hour to bass pro. So after the guy at the counter says i got everything i need i head home and try it out and I see my navionics card is a SD Card and the Helix has a Micro SD slot. How the hell do i make this work? Do i need to buy an adapter? or did i buy the wrong Navionics package? Or worse do i have do buy a blank micro SD and perform some kind of IT conversion? I have been digging through my navionics packaging thinking there might be a micro sd card in there but all it came with was an SD card and USB converter. Any guidance is appreciated
  3. Thanks for the advice, we ended up going out of occoquan. Occuquan was pretty stained but we were able to find some clearer water in the back of some creeks dumping into belmont bay. Ended up with 9. The old man beat me 5-4! I have Penrods book, i didn't even think to look at at for tidal potomac advice. thanks again
  4. Hi all, I am trying to take the old man fishing tomorrow. I typically fish the upper potomac but with the recent weather it is too muddy and high for my comfort currently, so instead I was thinking of going out of pohick or occoquan on the tidal potomac. But I just wasn't sure how the recent rains have affected the tidal potomac. Did it muddy up the tidal as well? Just don't want to drive down there just to see chocolate milk. Any info is appreciated drew
  5. I hit up beaverdam on friday. I ended up catching 4 and losing one nice one (all large mouth). Biggest fish probably went about 3lbs. I got on the water about 9:30 and all fish were caught within the first hour i was on the water the rest of the day was quiet with no bites. I left about 3pm. I caught 2 fish on senkos and 2 on a small swimbait. I also threw some cranks and jigs. It actually was one of my better days on this lake as like others have said it is a tough little lake. Water temp was 68 and I thought maybe i would see some fish on beds but when i would go into the coves all i would see are the schools of giant carp.

  8. Ballsbluff Anytime you want to go ....i am ready.......except this weekend cause i am heading to deep creek lake for some smallie/pike/walleye action (hopefully) PM sent...
  9. I have been out at beaver creek this past month 3 times. The most recent being this past friday in 30 mph winds, which was brutal. I did still manage to catch 2, one on a jig, and one on a swim bait (no size). The water temp was mid 60's. It is a tough little lake to fish. The people i have talk to have had some success with rapalas. I have caught the majority of my fish on jigs or shakey head. Although i did catch a nice smallmouth on a rattle trap a few weeks back. I'll be out there tomorrow so if you see guy in canoe w/ tm setup let me know how your doin. drew
  10. I fished the beavercreek dam res this past friday, I caught one decent fish (2 lb) and 1 dink. Both were on a sassy shad on a jig head. There was no top water action. I also tried a stickbait, senko and a jig without any luck. The wind kicked up and made it pretty miserable so i was off the lake by 2 pm.
  11. I fished beaver creek res. all day on friday working the weedlines with not the best of luck. I landed 2 nice fish, and lost 2 at the boat. I was using senkos, flukes, and a buzzbait. I also got a nice sunburn! I saw a ton of top water activity and started throwing everything i had in the tackle box at em. finally i got them to hit on a beetle spin. They were whitebass? or baby stripers. None of them had any size though, but they entertained me since the bass fishin was slow. Also caught a decent crappie. Anyone ever go on this lake with a depth finder? I always wondered exactly how deep that place got? if you care to share what are some successful techniques people have used at this lake. After a full day of fishing and only getting two, i gotta be doin something wrong.
  12. I fish the potomac quite regularly from a kayak, normally Agonkian on the left side of the island upstream from the ramp. I was catching large quantities (30-40) of smallies earlier in the season (May/June) with a number of them being the largest smallies i have ever caught, PB being 19.5". However I am finding it harder and harder to find these bigger fish anymore, not sure where they went. The jet skiers do fly by you quite often there at high speeds. I control my urge to yell at them since it is not like i am fishing the bass master classic. I just smile and wave and hope they hit a submerged log ;D. My Dad and I fished a new stretch of the potomac 2 weekends ago, from Whites ferry to Edwards ferry. Conditions were stained and hot as hell. This stretch of river was ok. there is a bend in the river less than halfway that produced good smallies, but most of this stretch was deep slow moving water that did not produce any size. But we did pull quite a few dinks out of the mouth of Goose Creek across from Edwards ferry. I would like to make the run from Algonkian to River Bend but there is a d**n inbetween. Does anyone know if you can go around it? over it? My choice of bait on the potomac is 3.5" tube lure green pumpkin or White with black flecks.
