  1. BIG M

    First repaint

You will do wonders with an airbrush.
  2. Here are a few more off the wheel. Deep diving flats with some round baits mixed in the bunch.
  3. 3x stainless steel size 3
  4. Here are a mix of baits, flatsides, semi-round, and round bodies.
  5. Thanks fellas David that's just a better pic, all my baits look that good ;D
  6. David, Your painting skills are getting better with every batch of baits.
  7. Thanks for the kind words and Eric you just say the word
  8. Here is another batch off the drying wheel.
  9. Yes that is a regulator and moisture trap.
  10. Get a quality airbrush (Iwata) a compressor, good airbrush paint(taxidermy) and get ready to practice and then practice some more. I know some guys picked it up real quick but I was not one of thsoe guys. I bought 5 traps and 5 cranks from Jann's and have painted those baits several hundred times. That's the best advice I can give.
  11. Here are some round bodies to look at. I figured ya'll were getting tired of flatsides. But for good measure I throw in 2 more.
  12. To answer a few questions, no I do not thru wire my baits. I find it to be a lot of extra work and overkill. I round or taper the tails depending on the body style. Natural Shad and it's been very popular this year. Thanks guys
  13. Upriver, go to Surftalk.com. Those guys turn more baits than anybody. All you ever wanted to know and they are a bunch of nice folks. I can help with hand carved but that's it.
  14. Here is my fav fatty. Natural this one is just to tease you a little.
  15. It's much cheaper to buy production cranks than build your own. I just dumped approx 200.00 in weights, rings, hooks, and epoxy. I still have to order another 100.00 worth of wood. Tools, paint, and number of other things I can't think of off the top of my head all cost. I bet my first quality crankbait cost me around 600.00. I have not fished with a store bought crank in 6yrs, since I caught the first fish on one of mine. It's an addiction that has no cure and if you ever catch a fish on a bait you've made then all hope is lost.
  16. Here are some more flatsides in a few different colors.
  17. Here are a few different style cranks I've not posted and a few of the old fav. The 3 baits in the first pic are a little semi-round body deep diver.
  18. Natural when you ready I'd be happy to swap some baits with you.
  19. You should be pleased, very nice looking baits.
  20. Kb, the deep divers I made from that wood were the bomb. I would like to say thank you again.
  21. Here lately the only time I get out of the shop is to go to work.
  22. I would bet that's a knock off from China. Jann's has a bait that looks just like it. Those are hit or miss for running true.
  23. Here is a little mixed bag, couple of jerk baits, B2 clone, and green back shad.
  24. Tenn. Tuffy also makes a good flatsided bait for mid teens. Brian Huskins has lot of baits to offer (Brian's Crankbaits). I still favor mine over all the others, I don't know why ;D String, I never get tired of seeing those fish pics.
  25. Cedar is harder to carve than basswood and watch how the grain is flowing. For weighting I would say the density is pretty close to basswood. I don't make sinking baits so I start with less than half the weight I would use in a similar balsa bait.
