  1. Thanks for the link. We ended up getting some pretty decent fish actually! Huge bluegill and good sized Smallies. Unfortunately no pickerel. We trolled with bottom bouncers with no luck. We tried a pickerel rig and worms which had most success. Tubes, cranks and a jig with a craw trailer also worked well.
  2. Great input everyone, thank you. Pflueger emailed me back and they think I am putting on too much line. I'm going to try a 10 lb braid instead and when I put it on I'll be sure it goes on tight. I'll also leave the 1/8" space. This should do it.
  3. I'm pretty disappointed to see that there are quite a few others who share the same experience. I went on the Pflueger website and sent a message. Let's see what they come back with.
  4. I have 14lb braid on it and as I reel in some of the line slips off and goes off the spool and starts to wrap around the reel body. I figured I had too much line on so I took some off. It helped but it still does it here and there. Any advice or different line recommendations?
  5. I'm gonna be visiting Sandy Lake ON (near Buckhorn Lake) located in the Kawarthas near Lakehurst. Has anybody ever done any fishing here in the summer months? I'm going mid July and will be going inshore and offshore. Any good spots to check out? I looked at a satellite map on Google earth and saw a few points but other than this I don't have much to go by. Anything in particular I should be looking at on the map? I don't have any fish finding electronics. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. I have a pflueger president xt 30 with a medium action 7' Shakespeare 2 piece rod. I want to dedicate this set up for finesse and soft plastics etc. What kind of line? Leader or no leader?
  7. I should also mention that the Revo S is a 7.1.1 ratio so its a burner!! I do agree with you about not limiting it and I won't know if I like it till I try it. I'm gonna have to check the markings on the old Shakespeare rod and report back.
  8. Thanks man. Solid points. I really don't know much about the Shakespeare, it's gotta be close to 30 years old though. Can't find any info on it.
  9. Recently I was gifted the following - - New Abu Garcia Veritas casting rod 6'6" MH Moderate Fast action + Abu Garcia Revo S Baitcaster reel - Used (dad's old rod) Shakespeare 7' medium action spinning rod + new Pflueger President XT30 Spinning reel What can I dedicate each rod for?
  10. I'm told it is lol I haven't had much opportunity to get out there much but that will soon change.
  11. Whats up everyone. I live in Southern Ontario so I'm surrounded by the Great Lakes - Lake St Clair is literally in my backyard! I've recently rediscovered my passion for fishing and now I am kind of obsessed. I used to fish here and there in my early/late teens in Northern Ontario while going on family vacations. I really started getting back into it recently- just got my first baitcaster combo and picked up a new spinning reel too. I've never used baitcasters but I'm eager to learn. Cannot wait to get out there and catch. I wanna go for largemouth/smallmouth, walleye, pike and panfish. I'm just looking to have fun and become a good angler.
