  1. It is no doubt a nice fish but 12 lbs i think not. This guy is admittedly not a bass fisherman and has definetly overestimatd the size of this fish. The reporter in the story did not do their homework and the storyshould not have been published. This guy is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed but he is does not represent the average Canadian angler we have some great fishing in Canada and some great fisherman as well so i think the statement made by brush pile berry is unfair and uncalled for.I am sure that the U.S. has just as many morons per capita as Canada has. That being said the chance of the next world record coming from Canada is not that great because of our short growing season, our bass live longer than those in the lower states but grow much slower.Thats all from me got to hitch up the dog sled team and leave the igloo for a bit to go to the store EH!
  2. I generally bend the barbs down on finess baits or anything that im fishing slow but the faster moving baits that usually hook fish in the lip area i leave the barbs on,The barbs dont seem to be an issue on these baits because of very few fish get hooked deeply
  3. i agree with aint texan the fintech line of jigs are the best i have ever fished with and if you havent tried them yet your missing out.The title shot is amazing stand up jig and very hard to get snaged not to mention they use Mustad ultra points so give them a try you wont be disapointed
  4. Shanks i live in New Brunswick and fish the New Brunswick Sportfishing Tournament trail in the Unlimited HP series send me a PM and i would be glad to help you out as much as i can
  5. WOW they look to good to throw in the water, great job
  6. wow they look to good to throw in the water great job man
  7. We do not have Largemouth here but for smallies try wind swept shorelines or points it can be alot of fun
  8. Some of us just choose not to fish during the spawn Ontario has chosen not to open the season until after the spawn witch i think is unreasonable it should be a personal choice And there is some good fishing before they spawn. That being said i didnt mean to offend any one and as far as being F.O.S. that very well may be true but i just choose to fish Muskies at that time and we hold no tournaments for 6 weeks to let them spawn in peace. And yes i realize that fish do not have intercourse i was just trying to be funny guess it was not sorry it wont happen again
  9. I love my stratos 201xl it handles rough water great .Im about 275lbs and my partner is about 200lbs and we can both stand on the side it and it will hardly lean at all.My home lake is about 85 miles long and can get very rough but i always know it will handle it
  10. Congrats on the new ride very nice colour but it should have an e-tech on it lol
  11. I leave them alone i wouldnt like it if someone came into my bedroom and pulled me off the wife i just try to show them the same respect
  12. A proud Canadian here never fished the Ottawa river i fish New Brunswick and Maine. This is the best and most informative site that i have seen wish i had of found it a long time ago
  13. Those are some great pics Electrikal good to hear they are alive and well, finally found some soft water up here and headed out on Sunday cant wait
  14. I personally do not use yum scent but i do use Smelly Jelly don't know if it is in the US or not but it works great. When prefishing for a tournement i cut the points off my hooks, just want to know if they are there not hurt them when i started using the smelly Jelly crawfish scent i noticed that they would not let go of the baits as quick and i even have landed several with a net with no point on the hook so if that is just bottled confidence i'll take it
  15. Smallmouth do not get as big here but they live much longer in our cold rocky lakes a 3lb smallie here is said to be about 18years old 4 pounders are common anything over 5lbs is uncommon but does happen the New Brunswick record is 7lbs 2 ozs
  16. Thanks for the pics im still waiting patiently for the ice to go out its normally out by know but its staying cold. The season starts sunday and theres still 2 ft of ice
  17. I used them last year and have no complaints,i was using it for wacky rigged senkos with a tube for the drop shot worked great in deep water
  18. I have used the Banjo Minnow and owe one tournement win to it but it is not a bait i fish often only when the bite is very slow when nose hooked weightless they have a very slow fall rate that seems to help in cold water or severe cold front conditions.
  19. If you plan on fishing spawning Bass you have to consider why these fish are there the Males are there protecting the nests and removing these fish leave the nests vulnerable to predetors and you can catch the same fish over and over.I myself try to target other spieces when the bass are spawning but that is your call. All i have to say is when you catch them put them back as soon as possible so they can get back to their job and move on and try not to fish that spot again. The females are not there for long but when they are you should handle them gently and get them back in the water as soon as possible
  20. I have to agree with WAbass the original Floating Rapala is my favorite topwater bait by along shot throw them around rocks and stumps etc. and twitch them a few times and hold on.Like any other top water try to resist setting the hook until you feel the line start to tighten up
  21. Have you tried the Fintech Nuckleball jigs they have a unique hook design that keeps the worms firmly in place they are the only jigs that i know of that use Mustad ultra points and Mustad designed these hooks for fintech, they are incredibly sharp and the hook design allows for very good penatration on the hook set if you havent tried them yet they are worth a try
  22. I agree with turtle1 theres nothing wrong with sharpening hooks i sharpen mine whenever they need it could be every 5 or 6 casts in some rocky lakes
  23. I fish them weightless when i can but if i need a little weight i use finish nails pushed straight into the nose. I just cut the finish nails with cutting pliers to what ever weight i want
  24. The LC pointer 95 is $33 dollars Canadian here but worth every penny
