  1. Sounds like a lot of stuff to throw into a trash bag and carry around. Wanting something that clips to your belt and isn't too bulky while allowing you to carry everything you listed limits the options. Have you looked at soft bait binders? Seems like you could adapt one for your needs . Walmart sells one for $10 that is Okeechobee Fats branded which isn't too bulky and has a loop for attaching a belt clip. You could store some of the stuff you listed in the pages and some in the zippered web pouch on the lid. You'd probably want to pick up 1 or 2 little plastic Plano or Flambeau boxes to drop in to hold crankbaits or for your hooks and weights, etc. I'd imagine the spinnerbaits would sit flat enough to store in a page. Here's a couple photos of it to give you an idea to determine if it would work for you or not. Seems like it would too me at least. I don't keep the box in the zippered pouch....Just put there for the photo for illustration purposes.
  2. I picked up some Yamamoto's at Walmart when they had them on clearance back in Feb for $5 each. Seemed like a good deal to me. Haven't seen any at my local Walmart's lately. Took a photo of what I bought the 1st time so I didn't wind up buying the same ones again as I decided to check out my other local Walmart for more clearance lures.
  3. I just kind of slowly reel into it as I lift my rod and if I feel something then I'll set the hook if needed. Really depends on what you've been catching and what your using for bait. Sometimes just reeling in and turning is enough to set the hook if were talking little guys like bluegill, crappie, and other panfish. Guess with a sharp hook just about any fish. Caught 3 channel cats up to 6lbs last year with #16 treble hook before while bluegill fishing this way. I wouldn't set the hook as I'd just reel in and turn away from the fish to load the rod which set the hook once the fish realized it was hooked and made a run for it . If fish misses the first shot the bait doesn't get jerked rapidly away.
  4. Was viewing the thread and wondering why the photos weren't showing....Then looked at the date stamps of the post. Guess in the end what worked a a decade ago still holds true....Except a person can throw in some new offerings.
  5. I don't actually have one. It was more of a helpful suggestion for anybody that does and is worried about loosing the cap. For the money the Heritage edition was a really good deal. It does seem to have some quality issues but so far nothing that really would be a deal breaker in the end anyways. Silly little stuff in reality.
  6. I fish from a kayak and sometimes take 4 rods with me which would be 2 baitcaster and 2 spinning or 3 baitcaster and 1 spinning just in case I have to go finesse to beat the skunk. I'm going out tomorrow and I'm taking a baitcaster with a lipless, baitcaster with a chatterbait, and a spinning that I'll probably give the ned rig a shot on as I've never tried it before. If all else fails I'll throw on a really small swimbait and target one of the many huge schools of carp that roam the waters as their really easy to find.
  7. Yep....Just like us bass will have a natural reaction to disturbances in their world. Some will do the deer in headlights, some will run for it, while others will go to investigate it.
  8. Nice catfish! As for the bass sometimes they like to get exercise chasing crankbaits. Maybe give it a try next time?
  9. A couple dabs of silicone sealer on the tabs should hold it securely while allowing one to remove it later if needed.
  10. Yep....Just like humans they react in different ways.
  11. Yep....I always watch a episode the night before I plan on going fishing. Makes my time on the water less stressful knowing that even the best have no luck at times.
  12. I use a Galaxy phone so I'm a google guy. My phone will automatically upload a backup of my photos to my google account as long as I have cell reception or back on wifi. As far as I know they don't have any limits on bandwidth and it seems much easier as all I have to do is right click and select copy image address and then drop the link here. I really do like the look of this Bass I caught on my birthday. I'm hoping to catch her again in the future after she packs on a few more pounds....Was 5.12lbs when caught and she does have a birthmark to help ID her.
  13. Not off hand....But I'll be sending you a PM in a couple of minutes or so.
  14. Oh....In those scenarios one must bite the bullet and use the left hand to steer when needed. The way it's designed you wouldn't be able to just mount it on the right side as it fits into a molded in pocket with cable guides mounted into it.
  15. I just use my cell phone for pictures. Currently using the Galaxy S8 as I learned the hard way Kayak fisherman need a waterproof phone. What do you use for photos?
  16. Here's another one in question. I caught this one on my birthday but the dorsal fin was down so I didn't post this one as an example. I'm going to start checking the tongue and lift the dorsal as needed whenever I get one that has the look.
  17. You can always just click the drop down next to your name and select my attachments and delete old photos. This image is from photobucket. I did a quick experiment to see if it would work and it did. All I did was drop the image url in the text body skipping the insert media option. URL=http://s664.photobucket.com/user/ken_mitch/media/Fishing/Make%20room.jpg.html] I removed the [ from the beginning of the hyperlink so it was visible. [/URL]
  18. When fighting a fish I use the fish, my rod and the peddles to do some maneuvering. It's kind of hard to explain so you'd have to experiment with it. You kind of have to counter the fishes movement with rod angle and peddling forward/backwards when needed. Doesn't take much of a fish to move the Slayer. Depending on strength of the fish and rod angle you can almost pivot the Slayer. Once you get the fish head on it's not too hard to keep it on the side you want. Feisty fish that zigzag to left and right are the funnest to fight on a kayak.
  19. It' too hard to tell from the photo. But it does look like a nice one. I kayak fish and all my fish photos are the 1 handed stretch my arm shots also. I try to at least get the whole fish into them but still it's hard to guess the weight. I bought a cheap scale on Amazon to cure my curiosity. I only weight the bigger ones carefulply. I do sometimes just play the guessing game on the first one just see if my hand eye coordination is working. Getting a lot better at it once I've weighed some out. Here's a couple of photos of a Bass I caught before I bought my scale. The bucket is 14" tall and the Bass is touching the ground while it's side is touching the bucket. If the angle was a little more straight on it would be easier to guess the length at least. I'm thinking it was around 21"-22" long. Viewing the photos one would think the one next to the bucket is a bigger fish as the lighting and angle is off just enough to make it look like two different Bass. Same fish. The bucket was just to carry my stuff. I throw them all back.
  20. Possibly. I think I've snagged 1 a couple weeks ago but it got away.I've bumped a few for sure. I caught on we the other day finally on a lipless crankbait. Rear treble in mouth so it was trying to eat my lipless. Nice fight and it was just shy of 6lbs....Toddler compared to the monsters that roam Lake Perris.
  21. I guess you guys reinforced my reasoning for posting the picture in the 1st place. I really wish I took a couple more photos of the fish in question. It was a dink but I liked the look of the little guy/gal was the only reason I took a photo in the 1st place. Thanks!
  22. It's a Bass we can all agree on. It was a dink so I took 1 quick photo and threw it back without even really thinking about it at the time. Looking at old photos was what made me wonder about it. Easy to check with fish in hand, old photo not so much.
  23. I'd just go fishing. If you wait the hour you wasted it waiting, if you go and fish it can be a warm up period if nothing else. I guess you could just sleep it out and dream about fishing an extra hour also
  24. Nice fish! I'm still looking for my 1st Smallie .
  25. Was Kayak fishing Lake Perris today and hooked into what felt like my new PB Bass. It stayed down and fought hard wound up fighting it for a couple of minutes as it pulled my kayak in circles. I got a glimpse or two of it and was somewhat heart broken when I got it close enough to net. I guess in the end it's still a new PB as it's the only one I've ever caught and on a lipless crankbait to top it off. 5.93lb which looks to be a toddler compared to the monsters that thrash around my kayak at times. I only caught 3 Bass today with the largest being a 2.5lb and other 2 in the 1.5lb range.
