  1. You too? It doesn't really look so bad in the video as long as you block out what you've seen them doing terrorizing the waters in the past. I plan on buying lakefront properties on known good fisheries in multiple states and possibly a base home with some acreage and a decent sized pond. A couple of these might come in handy depending on the location and the lake....Now if I could just get myself to play the lotto more often my chances would increase from zero to at least near zero of ever winning. I kind of only play once in a great while and buy 1 ticket with the thought that if it's meant to be it will happen that one random time I play. Not working out so great so far tho.
  2. It's another option to get out on the water and enjoy fishing in the end. It does have the ability to join the crazies doing circles around the lake also for when the fish aren't biting or one so chooses. I just view it as another vessel that can do more damage to the eco system in the hands of someone that isn't aware or doesn't really care anyways. I'm no tree huger, anti motor driven vessel lover so I hope I didn't come across that way.
  3. 1st off I fish in a peddle powered kayak and slowly putt thru these areas in question. I don't even bed fish as I don't really see it as a sporty way to fish. My view on it is even the bass boats are somewhat destructive to these areas depending on who's at the helm. I'm not against the PWC as a fishing vessel as long as the driver is aware of the potential harm he or she may be causing and exercises some common sense. Same really goes for those spot jockey boats. It doesn't look like a bad product, although somewhat pricey. I'd probably go with a boat before I'd consider one, but can still see the value in possibly owning one.
  4. Most bass anglers will be using the trolling motor to get around once they're in the area. If the PWC doesn't have a similar option how else would they get around? Doesn't the traditional prop more or less cut it's way thru the water, while the jet relies on pressure to propel itself?
  5. During the spawning times of the year wouldn't this be a bad thing if it takes off? I'd imagine that it would destroy beds, suck up and spit out thousands of fry and overall be a not so good thing for the bass fisherman and the bass. I'd imagine being blasted by the jet and slammed into a rock or other underwater structure could seriously hurt or even kill an adult bass.
  6. Live and learn I guess. Try fishing from a kayak and you'll quickly learn the fish has the upper hand until you've either lipped or netted them. BPS has some folding landing nets on sale currently. I have the 35" one behind the seat of my kayak for the times of need. It can be flipped open one handed as long as you don't have it tangled on some other gear. I'm not really sure why they get bad reviews? Maybe somebody needs to make a video on how to properly use a landing net? Best bang for buck net I came across when searching for one. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-gold-series-folding-landing-net There currently priced within a couple of bucks of the lowest price I've ever seen them.
  7. That things kind of cool. Pretty stable it looks like.
  8. Nice! Did it feel like the traditional slam you get with the smaller one on the lipless or more like a dead weight snag? Lipless crankbaits keep me from catching numbers of bass as it's the only thing I really like to throw no matter if they're biting them or not. I'm trying to get back into finesse fishing....But looks like lipless season is getting ready to ramp up again. The largest bass I've ever hooked, seen, and sadly lost at the side of the boat as I watched in horror was back around 1990 on a chartreuse and white spinner bait. Easily a DD....Ughh!
  9. I haven't broken one yet....knocks on wood multiple times. I only got back into fishing early last year after around 25yrs of non fishing. The early years I don't really remember breaking any but might have when I was a wee little lad. Picked fishing back up in 1988 when I moved out to this area and quit around late 1991. I don't remember breaking any during that time frame, but try to keep that time frame in deep storage as I lost a monster bass at the side of the boat as I helplessly watched....I can see the horror as I type this!
  10. If it was me I'd spend less on a combo and hire some hot looking hoty to go fishing with me a couple times.
  11. I'd suggest reading the article. The way you describe how it broke makes me vision it snapping right in front of your hand.
  12. Do a google search for vintage steel fishing rod and look thru the images. Didn't even know they had such a thing. With a era matching reel it would make a good wall hanger for someones man cave
  13. Getting skunked is no fun. Luckily the stench doesn't go with it. My last outing I was throwing larger baits trying for larger fish. It didn't work out for me. As I was heading back in I decided to throw on a Warpig and hit the submerged trees and hooked and lost a small feisty one as my drag was a little too tight. Loosened it up some and hooked and landed 1 LMB that weighed 2.65 lb. Without having some bad days the really good days wouldn't be so great! It would be nice to just knock them dead all the time but I'd imagine after a few thousand catches it wouldn't be so rewarding.
  14. Went to my local lake on the 29th and didn't have much luck. I was mostly throwing larger baits looking for some bigger fish. Still trying to figure out were the fish are going currently. Lake is up 22ft this year after a decade of low water levels. I'm leaning towards they're still using their same routes to get to where they used to haunt and doing some further exploring at this time. Anyways as I was heading back in for the day I threw on a Warpig and started grinding away. I hooked one and lost it as I got it close to my kayak. It was one of those 1-2 lb feisty ones that wound up pulling the hook. After I lost it I backed off my drag a little as it felt kind of too tight. I only wound up getting this one in the end. 2.65 lb which I guess is better than none. I think on my next outing I'll head on over and explore the areas I fished in March and April. The water level is up about 8ft from then so if my old haunt willing to explore theory is correct they may be there or close.
  15. I know it doesn't pertain to the Heritage boat....But the cast and switch method works best for many anglers and you'll even see pros doing it. I guess in the end it's what works best for you. I've always done the switch over as it's what feels more natural too me being right handed. I use my left for guiding/holding in real life so it's only fitting I use my left to guide the fish were I want it to go.
  16. Nice! I bet your excited to get it up and running. I know you'll be tempted to take it full throttle and see what she'll do once you get it broken in....Safety 1st before those last couple of mph's. I only have a peddle drive kayak with 1 manpower(.10 hp) Maybe the peddle drive bumps me up to .50 hp?
  17. I'm all for it as far as the temps go at least. I'm hoping to get out on the water at least once a week as the weather cools down. The only thing that keeps me off the water is the blistering summer sun and that dang howling wind. It's no fun being out on the lake on a kayak in some nasty 30mph winds. I fish mainly Lake Perris as it's only a couple miles from my house. I did ok last year fishing from my kayak. I'm kind of at a disadvantage this year as the lakes water level is up 22ft. All the spots I found last year are now in the abyss. I don't think there's a bass alive in the lake that has seen the water level so high. I'd imagine they adapt pretty quickly but most likely are still somewhat confused and searching for new places to haunt and call home.
  18. I'll let you know when I finally catch one. I'm still stuck at 6lbs ??? oz. Caught that one around 1990 I think. It was so long ago that I don't remember the oz part of it. Just got back into fishing last year after around 25yrs of non fishing. Best I got this year so far was 5.8lb. I also have one of those DD that got away stories. Back in the late 80's early 90's I used to have a Tracker TX17 and would go solo fishing a lot. When the Minn Kota auto pilot came out I replaced my trolling motor with one of them. I was fishing one day throwing a spinner bait around and was having no luck with it. I decided to move and set the trolling motor for full speed ahead to the left of where I was at as I made one last cast at a isolated bush next to some taller heavy cover. As my spinner bait slowly fluttered down a huge bass came from under the bush and inhaled my bait. She came out and started weaving in and out of the other cover while I fumbled with getting the trolling motor under control. I fought her all the way to the last branch sticking out of the water. I'm in the front of the boat, my net in the back. The spinning bait got stuck on the branch about 3-4ft underwater and as I watched she wiggled herself loose and slowly swam away. She was huge and easily a DD. The whole encounter lasted maybe 45 seconds or so and I'll never forget it. The image of her getting away is as clear as the day it happened. I see it as I type....Ugh! I'm hoping to get a DD this year or maybe early next year. I know they're in the lake as many DD's have been caught recently. I watched a fellow kayak angler catch a 10.69lb one a couple weeks ago.
  19. Cool video! Did you have to pay the fish to jump in the bottom left corner at the 1:27 mark?
  20. Why hasn't it left the garage in 2yrs is probably a question I'd ask the seller. You didn't mention anything about the why part.
  21. Tell that to this bass as she lost to a Ugly Stik spinning rod. Bucket was for size perception. Bought Ugly Stiks when I 1st got back into fishing. Have upgraded my rods now, but think my Ugly Stik catches outway my new rods still.
  22. Jedi bass master! Use the lure! Be one with the fish! I'm just hoping dumb luck at some point will reward me with the fish of a lifetime. Maybe dumb luck isn't the correct term as I'd most likely be following some kind of game plan at the time.
  23. Don't make fun of his belly. I'm looking more at the reinforced tip aspect of them. Had more than one stronger fish make runs when trying to grag or net them.
  24. This time of year + weekend + SoCal = zoofest around here making it a no go for me. Mid week is best if the heat index is tolerable.
  25. I think they're just hitting the market now. I'm interested also as I want to upgrade one of my casting rods and it looks like a possible candidate. Maybe some reviews will pop up soon?
