  1. Yeah, I should have specified I use it weighted. If its weightless then Id agree you probably will have more success on the initial drop. I dont think I'd have the patience to work it that slow weightless using my technique.
  2. Everyone is different then, Im just going off my personal experience and I have a huge sample size. I normally throw it in deep water and work it back up dropoffs.
  3. This isn't true at all, at least not with my experience. I catch hundreds of bass per year slowing fishing it back to me. It's probably 10% on the initial fall. I cast it out, let if fall close to the bottom, then give it a few small twitches while lifting the rod tip up. This probably pulls it up 2 or 3 feet in the water column. I then let it sink again. Ive actually tried this in a pool before to see what it looks like. You basically get 4 or 5 "falls or flutters" instead of just the initial fall and then reeling it back in. Youre increasing your odds significantly when you have 4 or 5 falls compared to just the 1.
  4. The short answer is yes, they are very good. Heres what I have: 2 Carbonlite Casting Rods 6'6 M, they rods are a dream come true for throwing senkos and Texas rigged worms, they are extremely sensitive and lightweight, they play more like a ML though. 1 Pro Qualifier Casting Rod, 6'6 M, I use this one for cranks and spinnerbaits as it seems it has a little more backbone than the Carbonlites but not quite as sensitive. 1 PQ1 reel and 1 PQ2 reel, the original one is a workhorse, the PQ2 doesnt seem as well built to me 1 Carbonlite Reel I also have a bunch of PQ and Extreme Reels that I dont really use for bass fishing. My favorite rod out of all I own though is an old Extreme Spinning Rod, 6'0M. Ive caught hundreds of walleyes and wipers from the rivers on that rod.
  5. Jerkbaits, put your back to the wind and launch it. Then work it back against the wind, it will help it suspend and stay in the same areas alot longer.
  6. I have yet to have a confrontation but Ive had some idiots and weird people interact with me. I had a guy come up to me once making small talk about fishing, seemed way too nice, all of a sudden pulls out a pamphlet and asked if I had thought about "finding Jesus". Same place another time this group 6-7 were fishing. Guy comes up and asks if I want any night crawlers and I politely decline. The whole group then leaves a bunch of trash, beer cans, and just leaves 3 containers of worms. I watch them drive away in their BMW's as Im in disbelief that anyone could blatantly litter like that and not seem to care. This is a lake with a walking path around it that gets tons of human traffic. Ive never seen anyone so blatantly leave trash like it was no big deal and the kicker is there is a huge trash can right by them. I decided instead of getting in a fight going 6 on 1 that I would just pick it up myself.
  7. Jigs, Ive never caught a bass on one and I dont enjoy even trying with them anymore. If I ever do get bit on them its a tiny bluegill nibbling at them. Its just not something I enjoy throwing. I can catch bass all day with wacky ricked senkos, squarebill cranks, and topwater, but jigs I just never got the appeal of them.

  9. Im in Iowa and Thanksgiving is my last stand. Ive had really good days in November depending on the weather so I usually stay for the end of the fall bite. I usually take December off, then get my ice fishing gear ready for after New Years.
  10. I would just have a little more patience. What Ive found with these Covid anglers is they have really short attention spans if they arent catching anything and quickly move on. Your scenario has happened to me on multiple occasions just this year. I simply move, wait until they get bored, then go back to my spot. I was just out tonight and its already showing some signs of crowds dieing down. My local 30 acre lake wasnt near as crowded as it was a month or two ago.
  11. 8 seems way too heavy with that setup but thats just me. I use 8 on my Shimano 3000 reels and medium rods for bass fishing.
  12. Just did this the other day, someone got a ziplock bag of about 50 curly tail grubs.
  13. I notice you are in Iowa also. I disagree that the bass are getting lockjaw this time of year. This time of year is when I usually catch the biggest fish. I start my evening out about 6:30-7, usually manage a couple every night on wacky rigged senkos or Texas rigged worms. I cast out as far from shore as i can, they are deeper most of the day and into the early evening. I do this until about 8:30 then I start throwing topwater poppers. The fish usually start moving up closer to shore right as the sun sets. This is when the bugs start coming out which is to your advtantage. This is usually the time most people pack up for the evening but for me its my favorite time of day. The bluegills move up to start feeding on bugs which draws the bass in. The bass will feed on insects also. I stay until about 9:30-10 as the bite usually finally dies off about an hour or so after dark. Fish the deeper areas before sunset and after sunset throw on some topwater and start throwing shallower.
  14. Those BPS poppers in the bargain bin for 2.99 will catch alot of fish. Ive caught hundreds of bass using them over the years.
  15. I've noticed all their "clearance" items are always sold out on their website. How many unsuspecting buyers have gotten excited about getting a good deal only to find out they are sold out is beyond me. You would think if an item sells out it would be taken off the clearance section of the website within a few days but I guess thats too complicated.
