  1. Well guys the new set up is on the way... Tracking says Tuesday I'm hoping maybe sooner. Thanks for all the help.
  2. My wife has a perception swifty and I have a future beach trophy angler 126. Both are sit in and pretty stable. I haven't tried to stand up yet but one day I will try. They were kinda impulse buys for our first kayaks. If I had to do it again I think I would have spent the extra 150 for the field stream eagle talon(we shop at dick's a lot). I feel like there is more storage on a sit on top. Every time I go out I wish had more room for my tackle bag.
  3. poppers are not that much of a concern. I am more interested in crankbait fishing. I have a few lipless and a few squarebills and several jerkbaits that I want to have a rod for. All of them are 1/2 oz or less.
  4. Thanks a lot guys. For all you guys that have specific crankin rods.. are they all a moderate taper? I have read a lot about using moderate taper for better hook up ratios and hook sets with treble hook baits.
  5. Hey guys sorry if this has been covered already. I am in the market for another rod and reel setup. It will be mostly for treble hook style baits (crankbaits, poppers) I want something in the 7' to 7'6 range. I'm trying to do this on a budget.. right around 200 for the combo. I think I have two rods narrowed down (lews tp1 or shimano exage) but I am open to suggestions. Reels are another story. I have no idea where to begin. Thanks in advance.
  6. It may not be much for some of you but it is a PB for me in my short fishing career so far. Caught on a swing football head with a Rage Tail menace grub.
  7. Today, my wife and I spent 2.5 hours on our kayaks fishing. We didn't catch anything. I didn't have my whole tackle bag with me but I threw everything I had. Popper, t-rig, swing head, squarebill, ned rig, and shakey head. The water was pretty clear and sunny skies. My garmin said water was between 85-89 degrees. The deepest I saw was 20ft. Very frustrating.
  8. Get a wacky rig tool and cross the o-rings!
  9. I got my first baitcaster a few months and I put Berkley Smooth cast xl 12 lb mono. I think it works well for a few timer.
  10. I started kayak fishing. Hopefully I can get a few that size.
  11. Awesome set up you got there.
  12. thanks for all the replies guys. I ended up ordering a scotty transducer arm to solve all my problems.
  13. This morning I took my kayak out after installing a Garmin striker 4 plus cv. The unit powers up fine and screen is clear temp works but there was no depth reading for 20 mins or so then it starts reading. The graph is really choppy and the depth reading was flashing. The transducer is mounted in the hatch of my kayak using duct. I saw the idea on youtube and figure I would try it. I flattened the duct seal out and pressed the transducer down to it then to the kayak. Do the transducers actually have to be in the water to work properly?
  14. My local Bps isn't all that local like an hour and half away. We went there yesterday and the fishing section is very confusing. Trying to find what you looking for and being bugged about vacation at the same time is ridiculous. I don't see me going back anytime soon. I prefer online shopping.

    NED Rig

I haven't been fishing for long but the Ned rig is my favorite finesse bait. The few fish I have caught have all been on the Ned rig.
  16. fishwizzard, where in SOMD you from?
  17. yeah I don't blame ya
  18. picked up the garmin today. hopefully gonna mount it tomorrow. any idea how you are going to mount the transducer?
  19. check out the garmin strike 4 plus. Garmin has a feature that will auto map. It has been rated top FF for less than 200 by countless mags and website. I don't own one yet but my new kayak will have one on it soon.
  20. the ponds and lakes around me have a lot of grass on the bottom so I use a lot of soft plastics. Texas rig and ned rig top two.
