  1. Great, I literally bite the bullet and ordered it 30 minutes ago, it’s going to be delivered Saturday
  2. Has the recent Software update changed your mind? I am looking to get live sonar, and I am torn between mega live or livescope plus, I like the thought of sticking with HB.
  3. Marina called and said they had a used ulterra to sell me, older angler who moved to Florida/barely used/only driven on Sunday’s to church/etc. Looked up the model number, MK 1358921 and it had been discontinued. I am trying to figure out why it is was discontinued and whether it was before the reinvention of ipilot in 2017. I don’t have access to the serial number. Any Ulterra owners provide insight? EDIT: CALLED MK BACK AND SPOKE TO A DIFFERENT TECH WHO STATED THAT MK DID AWAY WITH OFFERING US2 PAIRING ON THIS CONFIGURATION
  4. What I like about fishing CWood in April is the absence of recreational boaters/wake boats. If you want to give CWood a try, this would be a good time. I would say about half of the lakefront owners aren’t going to have docks in yet. Milfoil growth is going to be at a minimum. Fishing tournaments are going to be kicking off heavy starting April 24 so there will be some pressure but it’s early in the season and a big enough lake. Looking back through my camera roll pulled in some nice ones April this year.
  5. Sorry this if this is the wrong thread, but discovered this during the serious lake drain down. I googled photos of zebra mussels and the pictures vary greatly. There has been very few reports a zebra mussels in the lake (one) and if this is I want to make sure to alert the department of environmental protection
  6. Second update to note that while I have snapped the tip twice, both times Daiwa fixed it expeditiously no questions asked. That is some commitment to their warranty.
  7. I would walk the shore until you find someone with a boat who will let you on..jk, but I always found shore fishing on Candlewood to be difficult given the weedlines grow so far out AND The prime shore fishing areas, as a matter fact the vast majority of shore areas, are privately owned. That being said, if I had to pick one spot open to the public where I would try fishing on shore on Candlewood I would do it at dike point Park. That’s towards the deeper end of the lake, and near a lot of the smallmouth hotspots. You will have access to a good point of the shore, though it gets steep the further you go so it’s a kind of explore situation. there are good spots in some of the town parks, but generally you have to be a resident of the town. Pre-coronavirus I would say give it a try and if asked to leave you leave, but given the amount of people who been flocking to the town parks this year they were checking IDs and verifying you lived before you’re even able to get in. I had my best fishing season this year on Candlewood, but that was on a fishing barge, or pontoon.
  8. Update to say that I have snapped the tip on them twice. Once my fault, once defect.
  9. I have the ardito and I absolutely love it. Never thought I would get such sensitivity on a travel rod.
  10. @reason Prospect Park in BK has tons of fish, but the Meer is walking distance for me so I get a bit of a workout in walking there and back. I don’t usually lecture, but the dude obviously didn’t know it wasn’t allowed and stopped once I said something. Headed back to to the meer today, hopefully I’ll have another catch to report! EDIT: found this guy guarding a wall. I lost another on the top when he back flipped off my hook. Bluegills were plentiful. I’ve been lucky lately (or using what I’ve learned from bassresource!)
  11. Thanks @Delaware Valley Tackle! I’m actually using candlewood to better learn how to read structure. The hot weather up here has the bass hiding wherever they can find shadows.
  12. The trickworm has been hot for me. Rigged it wacky style, split shot about two feet above. First cast pulled this smallie in. About 4 feet of water.
  13. Wow, didn’t know that. Thanks!
  14. @A-Jay Knowing that I might sound like an idiot, I thought color was a environmental affect and not indicative of largemouth vs smallmouth, but you seem to use them as indicative of species. Am I wrong?
  15. @NYWayfarer I might have watched it and Lunkervilles episode to get some inside tips ?.
  16. @A-Jay could you elaborate more on brown vs green bass? What separates them, and how does that change how you target them?
  17. @Catt thanks man! I checked out the website, some interesting stuff on there. Don’s YouTube lectures teach me a lot, I’m also reading in-Fishermans critical concepts largemouth bass book on fish location. Couple that with fishing structures YouTube page, and fishing hotspots book on how to read a contour map for structure, hoping for the best! After the In-Fisherman‘s location book, here is my reading list.
  18. A Fisherman always finds a way. It took me just under a year to realize there are bass to be caught in the city. Weekends on the boat in CT, weekdays on the shore in NYC!
  19. I used this tape trick when I was learning:
  20. 6/14/18 Called I’m sick to work today to get some shore fishing in Central Park. This kid next me was killing it, pulling in bass after bass with some bluegills thrown in. I had one bass chase my deep diver, but nothing more. He had the most lifelike swim bait I’ve seen, until I realize that’s because swim bait was alive. He was cutting the top fin off the bluegills and hooking them to catch some bass. A big no-no in Central Park‘s catch and release only/no live bait allowed waters. I asked him if he fishes here often, he told me he’s visiting from California, so I let him know the rules since it seemed unintentional. But all that means is that those bass we’re not going out to my Senko with what he was offering. I move to another spot that I thought was promising, i drop shot a trick worm wacky style and BOOM the drought is over, I catch my first smallmouth in a while. Always a great feeling. Now I just have to get better at taking selfie‘s!
  21. Sorry, i must have written 3 replies but it seems i never submitted them. By fishing barge i mean a pontoon, but one that has live wells and a compartment for a trolling motor battery. But that is now my problem, since that compartment can only hold one battery (I'll have to measure it). I'm gonna shift the burden on this one and have him pick one out since so much of this will come down to his own preference, thanks for the help everyone!
  22. @Team9nine @Catt @WRB thanks guys. I’m gonna keep watching with my notepad. Already learned a lot from the Teledo bend discussion. I wish he would use just a bit of graphs or visuals but I just google the waterways he discusses and that solves some of the problems. Great online lessons on structure are hard to find, and the main lake I fish (Candlewood Lake in Connecticut) is hard to get experienced anglers to help since it is a extremely popular tournament lake.
  23. Looking for a Father’s Day gift (buying, not receiving). Would be for a 22’ foot fishing barge. Anyone have a opinion/thoughts on the MotorGuide X3 Bow-Mount X3-70FW? The old man currently has a hand operated trolling motor but really wants a foot operated one. I know next to nothing about motors.
  24. @Catt you ever here of Don Dickson? I’ve been watching his masterclass on reading structure on YouTube and in my opinion you are the authority. Is he the real deal?
