  2. https://discountfishingdeals.com I’ve bought gear from Chris Stewart for several years now without issues and he regularly has Costas around $100. They are just discontinued models or maybe not the most popular models. But not bad for a backup pair
  3. The non-bass I hook into the most are gar. Outside of a good fight I hate them. Mud fish too. If they don’t break my line they ruin nice baits. Ironically the lake I fish is loaded with crappie and catfish but I rarely ever catch one and with the amount of squarebills and cranks I throw you’d think crappie would bite more often. I’m always around crappie it seems but I may catch one per year.
  4. True. A lot of issues are electrical. GM/Chevy trucks with the new electric shifter are crapping out constantly having to be towed back to dealerships because the driver can’t put them in gear. I know of tow truckers who deliver 10 or so a week
  5. Makes you wonder what Toyota design team does on a daily basis lol. But that generation Toyota so much better than todays product
  6. I had a 2009 328i sport edition back when they offered it. Had beefed up suspension and brakes and the big fat rear tires with a 6 speed manual. It wasn’t going to win a drag race but I’m convinced it could take literally any curve faster than any other car on the road. The car was fast though. 4th gear would exceed 100 with two left to grab. It never cost me much besides the expensive tires that had to be replaced every 25k miles. I sold it around 100k miles
  7. BB1 Pro would work just fine if you don’t mind the big frame. It doesn’t palm well enough to frog for me personally. I like to have a strong grip for those violent hooksets.
  8. If so that’s wonderful. They used to be one of the best rods for the money. Hopefully academy will still carry them.
  9. I fish dirty shallow reservoirs full of grass and timber. Rarely ever do I need to make a full cast at maximum distance. Instead I make a bunch of short precise casts and a smaller reel is lighter and more comfortable in doing so. I do have quite a few deeper spooled reels for deeper cranks, traps, top water, etc. But I’d says at least 80% of my casts in a day are under 25 yards.
  10. It’s a fine reel. You will be satisfied.
  11. I’ve had better luck with the pricier ones for sure. The Magellan one I have will make you sweat your butt off and break out in heat bumps. Buy Columbia, HUK, AFTCO, etc and you’ll be cool all day (well technically nothing will keep you cool right now). My personal favorite is a North Face though.

And heres the problem with Elite Series. Going into final day with absolute zero reason to watch. More times than not I stop paying attention after day 2 because someone has ran away with it.
  13. Nearly impossible to find in cask strength but my favorite Makers product. Been trying to make this bottle last but had a nice pour tonight for CWS game

That’s what makes these southern shallow fisheries so tough. You find a fish here or there but it’s a needle in haystack scenario. Every once in a while you find a point holding them though. Always find it funny when outsiders roll in and you try to explain the ledge is where it drops from 3ft to 5 😂
  15. If I got a restaurant I usually say makers or knob. It’s available, affordable, easy to communicate, and a good flavor profile. At home I will use whatever I have that’s cheaper. I mainly buy bottles in the $50-70 range but try to keep some decent budget bottle on hand for cocktails such as Grandad, 101, or Makers. At home I also make my own brown sugar simple syrup and go very light on bitters if I use them at all. I make a modified old fashioned often with a pour of Russell’s with 2 cherries and half teaspoon or so of syrup that I really enjoy.
  16. I’m not mechanic or expert. But buying used Id go for the V8. That 5.0 is as rock solid as you’ll find outside of the water pump issues. Turbo motors will last a long time if taken care of but have a lot of seals that can cause problems if you neglect the oil. Also carbon buildup can be a problem which is why I tried to always use Exxon, chevron, or shell gas that has detergents added because you can’t eliminate carbon buildup once it’s there. Some will say it doesn’t matter but with anything mechanical I always try to go overboard. Also my opinion is turbo motors need to be used hard. Babying them causes problems it seems. Spooling it up and climbing the RPMs will help clean everything out. If your budget is $40k you may want to look at new before buying used. They’re struggling to move inventory and ford usually has 2.9 interest for 72 months vs the 6-10% you’ll get on used car. You can probably get a 4wd STX for around $50k and with the interest rates the payment will be about the same. And you’ll have a warranty, peace of mind, and zero miles
  17. It’s a 2015. First year they came out with the 2.7
  18. My f150 2.7 has 182k miles on it and only mechanical work has been water pump replacement. I bought it new and have ran named brand gas majority of its life and full synthetic oil. Have had a few random issues such as fuses and replacing the multifunction switch 3 times because the wipers wouldn’t turn off. Other than that just routine maintenance such as brakes, tires, shocks, etc According to the onboard computer it’s gotten 21.2 mpg for its life but I’m not sure how accurate it really is.
  19. Never understood one. I just hold the spool with my thumb as it enters water before engaging.
  20. He’s a friend of a friend so I’ve been following him since he started fishing the Opens a decade ago. From all accounts he’s a good dude but he said in his Facebook video that the average performances each year led to sponsors cutting his pay. Also I believe he’s on Dunkin’s podcast this week or next if you are interested in hearing more.
  21. Instead of letting it just soak give tiny twitches while on bottom to keep it at the top of the muck without really moving the bait forward.
  22. The last period has been firing all week. I like Lee’s chances but that creek Poche is in is a wildcard
  23. Akebono full ceramics. Best overall daily driver/light duty pad on market for under $100 per set.
  24. Pair of SLX MGL 6.3 gear ratio. Both in good condition, work properly. One has a little decal wear on side for whatever reason. Looking to sell together. $140 shipped. Hi
  25. I’ll offer you a sweet package deal for buccu trap caster and expert head Turner. I have too many
