  1. I plan on using 1/4 to about a 1/2 weight. I figure this gets me shallow to medium depth. I just bought a kayak, but not sure how much I will go heavier or deeper. Also saw some old posts saying Dobyns gives 30 percent off to military if you order direct through them. That may change the level of rod I can afford as well.
  2. So I’ve been doing my research and I’m confused as ever. Looking for a rod to pair with my Daiwa tat for a Crankbait and treble hook rod. My other rod is a mojo bass MH with a tat on it and I have a few decent spinning combos. So my question is, will spending more money be worth it for moving baits? I’ve been looking at $100 13 fishing, more expensive St Croix line, Dobyns line, and because of this forum Kistler rods. My budget is $100 to $200ish. Don’t mind spending a little more for a better product just don’t want to be wasting money when I could use it on other things.
  3. Tried my homemade plopping frog this morning and felt the tail didn’t kick unless I was bringing it in pretty fast. Am I supposed to burn this thing across pads to get the commotion I want?

  5. Will be moving to the Tacoma area this winter as I will be stationed at JBLM. So next year I may take you up on that offer if it’s still available. Moving from Texas so I feel I may have to change tactics a little bit.
  6. I ordered a few more from TW. I think they are better than the 90 and I need a smaller size than the 110. To be honest I probably should have just bought some buzzbaits, but I seem to have better luck with the whopper plopper.
  7. So I used my be whopper plopper 75’s this morning. Caught my first fish within 5 min and then lost the second one and the whopper plopper about 20 min later. Huge strike and then I was hung. I feel that they run better than the 90s and not as good as the 110s. I didn’t have a ton of problems with it rolling or nosediving. The only problem was the transition period when the line becomes tight above water. Was using 40 lb braid and using a bait caster.
  8. Was making a TW order and decided to add everything to make some plopper frogs. I have spro, scum, h20, and KVD frogs. May try to experiment with them first before I get a booyah. Had one before and it got broke off.
  9. Nice, I have three coming from TW on Monday. I would of had them sooner, but I’m to cheap to pay for fast shipping. Really excited for them as I love how the 110 performs, but the 90 size seems to be a better size. Looking forward to hearing how they perform for you.
  10. So glad I’m not the only one that is having a hard time. I almost threw my tackle bag in the water this morning as I approached my third day of getting skunked. I’m definitely interested in hearing ways some of you guys still catch fish in this heat. In central Texas water temp is in the low 90s, with outside air temps around 107 F. Also we are in a major drought so water levels are extremely low. I was trying to get out early morning to beat the heat, but only got a few reaction strikes. I’m also a bank angler which causes problems as I can’t get to deep waters.
  11. On a good day I can’t even keep track of how many I catch. Fishing like most hobbies is all up to you in the tracking. I prefer to not dwell on the past and only think about catching the next one. Some people keep detailed logs and that’s ok to. I think whatever makes you happy and allows you to have fun is the way to go.
  12. I was stationed at Fort Drum in upstate New York and man it is cold up there. I would of been more impressed if you guys would have done it in January.?
  13. I got a GoPro for my birthday and thought the same thing. Now I just strap it on myself when I bank fish, which to me is crazier than a boat. I started doing it so my kids will have something from our fishing trips and I’ll have video from the bases I’m stationed. So far the only one I posted is one for family so they can see my son catch his first bass. So I would say go for it. I’ll post my video for you to see what I do with it and start my sons internet fame. I also have video of me climbing on a log and retrieving a whopper plopper with another one while using colorful language that I will not be posting anywhere.
