Heck yes I did!! Yes yes YES!! I try to tell my buddy fisherman this its OK to hold your fish out like you're actually proud of it. I ALWAYS hold my fish out and yes you are correct it was a phone camera. The only thing we had. But I love this and I'm definitely going to share it because too many fisherman completely ruin trophy fish pics because they are afraid of the long arm theory. Lol

I do tend to long arm fish often. It comes from John Gillespie telling at me to hold his fish out on the TV show lol. BUT I will say this and this is my opinion on long arming. I think full extension is too much. I like about half way where there is a little bend in your arm. This hold really showcases the fish which is what you are trying to do. I have seen some horrible pics of giant fish and I just feel bad. Fisherman are so worried about being called out for long arming that they compromise and end up with a horrible photo of a trophy fish. You shouldn't ever be afraid to hold your fish out proud because of people. You know how big your fish is and you always will. And like I said fingers never lie!! Hey A-Jay thanks for the message!! Yes you're fish is a beauty 5 lber and it looks like a 5lber too. Even though holding it out (like many of us do) I can see that it is a 5lb smallmouth. Yes I hear you there it was just mind blowing that somebody would call my fish a 5ish fish lol. Even a 6ish fish. So I had to say something but I will leave it alone now and let the people that want to enjoy the fish enjoying. And the people that do not well they are allowed to have their opinion

Hey y'all my name is Brian James Schram. I am a country music artist and a fishing maniac. I've been fishing ever since I can remember and I have appeared on many TV shows such as Zona's Awsome Fishing Show, Facts of Fishing, John Gillespie and more. My personal best Largemouth bass is 10lbs even and I just broke my personal best smallmouth at a whopping 9-7. The inland lakes have my heart where I live in White Lake Michigan but my favorite lake for big smallmouth is hands down Lake St Clair. My personal best Muskie there is 55 1/4 inches and my personal best walleye is 33" and 13lbs. In my opinion it is the best consistent bass fishery in the world. Even the largemouth bass are very underrated. I Just recently discovered this forum and glad I did. The people are really nice and I look forward to reading/sharing reports, tips, etc. Thank you Bassresource for creating such a great and reliable forum!!

At fist all I saw was the belly and it looked bigger than a 7lb class fish to me. It was WIDE just maxed out. But I didnt really get a good look at the length. And when they are that far it's just hard to judge. Once she got to the boat i saw the length and freaked out. I was concerned about the tube coming out if I horsed her but I also know that the longer a tube is in a fish of that size the more chance you have of losing the fish. So I just kept the line tight and got her in as quick as I could. My partner had trouble landing her because her tail was so large. He had to like scoop her in over the gunnell. But it wasnt really until I picked her up off the bow I knew what I had just caught. It just felt very very different putting my thumb in her mouth. The eyes were bulging much bigger and the body just kept on going down. It was unbelievable. That's when I made a call to the shop about the state record. But when I set the hook yeah it felt big like a 5-6 lber but I would have never guessed that big until she came up. Lesson learned too. Always fight big smallmouth like it's a 9lber cuz it could be!!!

6.9 is HUGE lol. This was just a freak and honestly could have happened to anybody this time of year. Though I do credit myself for spending more time on the spot and really finding the sweet stuff on it. I watched people drift right by it but it looked too juicy not to really look at it closely. Glad I did!! Crazy part is that there were tons of 5 and 6 lbers with this fish. Kinda like a school of 3's with 5lbers. It was wild!! I get ya. Wish we could have spent more time with her but just too risky during CIR season. I thought the scale pic was plenty enough Thank you for the post Mike. You get out at that crazy walleye run this spring??!!

It's legit we weighed it 4 times. I posted a better pic in my own thread with the scale pic. I hold all of my fish out like that to showcase the fish. My buddy sent me a pic of a 6.7 yesterday and it was just the worst pic. It looked like a 4lber because the camera was so far away. One thing you can never take though is the size of your knuckles. As long as that is visible along side the fishes head it's very easy to figure out the real size of any fish

Hey y'all smallmouth nuts maybe you already heard about this fish but I wanted to share it with you. I've caught a LOT of 5-6lb smallmouth bass in my day and even a 7 which was my personal best. But this fish was in a while other league. Eyes bulging the body just kept on going and the tail looked like a dang sail. Here are the pictures I hope you enjoy them as much as I do every single day lol. Thing had the mouth the size of a 7lb largemouth
