    <p>
    36 years old. I have grown up fishing and hunting on Long Island. Work is constantly getting in the way of my fishing. When I'm not fishing, I wonder why I am not fishing. When I am fishing, Im not thinking about anything else. If I am online, its because I'm watching fishing vids, or reading articles, trying to learn and educate myself to become a better fisherman. I will always try to help anyone with my own tips or techniques and will NEVER turn down good advise.

    Something I've been trying to understand as I get older is the Science of bass fishing. Learning as much as I can about the LMB species, and how the weather, moon phases, wind, and seasons affect their behavior.

  1. Yeah I actually purchased a Ram Mount and was able to mount it on one of the side rails in the center of the boat, and still have room to lay my poles down. I was leaning towards making a mount, but that Ram Mount only set me back about $40. Not bad....
  2. The Rod straps are to keep the rods in place (which is another mod i really should do after losing a $200 combo last season).... but i was asking more about mounting ideas for the head unit. its a Helix 5, so the screen is wider than it is taller, and id like to mount it towards the center of the boat, as most of the fishing i do is while standing in the back half. I thought I had saw a photo or video somewhere of a "clamp" style mount that was made to screw down on the outter rim of the boat.... but i cant seem to find it again.
  3. Hey guys.... Recently made and added this carpeted casting deck/storage bin to the front of my bass raider. it really works well and allows me to carry more tackle in less bags, keep a semi-dry storage area for my camera accessories and is a solid stand for my gopro tripod. Just wanted to share in case anyone else had ideas to do the same. My next project is mounting my Hummingbird Helix 5 as I got an adjustable transducer mount from fishfindermounts.com I like to keep my rods laid down on the side rails of the boat so I dont want to head unit to affect that.... any suggestions or ideas for location placement??? It would be appreciated. Thanks, Dennis
  4. since I already ordered the 40amp inline fuse, im going to give it a shot. i made a backup set of jumper wires incase i have any issues. This way if im out in the middle of the lake i could just take the battery, put it in the back and either continue fishing or head into the dock. If that fuse is an issue though my next thought was to buy the minnkota battery box because it comes with a 60amp breaker on it. I hate to even say this because it never seems to work out.... but fingers crossed that everything will be fine with the 40amp fuse. Its actually that chart from the minnkota website that caught me all flustered about the 40amp fuse situation. but thanks anyway for posting it Lonnie. Im not going back into it though because i just got my blood pressure back down! haha
  5. Hey guys, I am new to these forums, so I apologize if I did not post this correctly the first time. Hey guys, I am new to the forum here, but have used it for ideas and different mods on my Pelican Bass Raider 10E, so thank you for all of that. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the 8AWG wiring that is pre-wired in the boat. I have mine set up so that I can run my 55lb thrust MinnKota Traxxis in the back of the boat, and keep the battery up front. I am a big boy (275lbs on a good day), so as I stand towards the back/center, I can keep the extra weight of the 12V battery up front to keep things balanced. I recently purchased the TM plug to utilize the wiring inside. my second time out, the 40amp inline fuse melted, but didn't pop the fuse. After reading up on this, it seemed that this might have been because of a poor connection inside the fuse. To replace it I purchased and am waiting on a 40amp inline flat fuse holder which I am going to install upfront, closer to the battery. My concern however is that the 55lb TM may push too much amperage for the length of the 8AWG wire and the 40amp flat fuse i just purchased. Has anyone had any issues after switching to a new flat fuse with the fuse constantly popping, or still with the fuse holder melting. Any help would be appreciated from the #plasticboatnation!!! Thanks, Dennis
