  1. Hey Jamie I have had the same problem you had with the fuel bulb going dry, I primed it up and it would run a couple minutes and die again. Brought it to the shop only to find out that the fuel pump is driven off of the camshaft and it came apart and fell to pieces. I wasn't one the boat affected by the fuel pump recall either. It was just one of those things o guess, hopefully you will have better luck and be something simple.
  2. I use straight simple green on my boat every time I take it out the water. Just hose it off real good when your done just like any other cleaner. Never use purple power on aluminum though, it will pit bad. If you leave the water film on too long it won't come off with simple green also. Best to pull off to the side of the boat ramp and wipe it while it's still wet with a rag to get most off.
  3. Yeah I know I could have but I rather "upgrade" the parts so it wont happen again. I did think about getting a new stock horn from them to have as backup though. I had the same problem with the straps not getting very tight too, the new one will tighten up good though, I should have changed them ahead of time like you did.
  4. The small 1/8" tube running from the transom to the console is for a future speedometer for those who were wondering. Has anyone else had any small problems? my horn went out first, if I unbolt it and tap on it it'll blow and then die out, tested the power and it is good. Also my cranking battery tie down strap broke on the clip were they snap together. I replaced the horn with a ooga horn ($9.99 harbor freight) and replaced the battery strap with BPS battery/fuel tank strap ($10.99) and it is 100x's stronger due to having metal buckles instead of plastic. Ive put 60+ hours on this thing so im not really complaining.
  5. Yep just lube them, if you pump the grease slowly you won't have to worry about blowing seals. Jack it up and spin the tire by hand while you pump in grease and the old grease starts to come out the front , once you see fresh grease start coming out your done. Of course after many many miles check the bearings. Its best to grease them after they are warm.
  6. I called Mercury today because I didn't get a recall letter and they looked up my serial number and told me that mine wasn't one of the defective ones. They go off of serial number if anyone else is worried. If I thought about it I would have asked between what numbers are affected and could have posted it on here, sorry. 920-929-5040 is the Mercury contact number. On a different note has anyone checked out the hubs on the trailer? They are super lube hubs which last a long time and are very easy to maintain.
  7. Has anyone on here installed a recessed tray for the trolling motor foot control on the heritage? I'm tempted to run a flexible camera under the casting deck to check clearance of supports through the hole the trolling motor power comes out of behind the front trim. If not I guess I'll be the guinea pig lol
  8. It won't let me post the pictures, I made a link with them. https://photos.app.goo.gl/JLFN0hpfODuZJqPp1 It was very easy I used the correct color wires to not complicate it. Basically the white plug with green red and blue wires are what you need to tap into under the steering column (it's a rats nest), ran the wires in the gunnel rail (it is hollow). Used a mom-off-mom switch from Academy's marine section. All wires are safe and hidden.
  9. I installed a bow mount trim switch yesterday. I took pictures of the install if anyone is interested
  10. Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum, this thread was the reason I found this site through a Google search for some information on the heritage. I ordered one February 10 and received it April 11. I've already put 14 hours on the motor! Thanks to you guys I knew what to look for during delivery, sure saved me some hub caps lol
