  1. I'm die hard about bass fishing...and my favorite technique is certainly Texas rigged soft plastics. Over the last two years i've expanded to a fairly well rounded fisherman, but there is one thing that i haven't tried. I've never considered Carolina Rigging. Any tips are welcomed. From the plastics you use, how long the leader, and where to throw it. Thanks Jim
  2. yeah like i said...tough winter. The fiance' didn't like it too much, but she's over it now. But I figure...spend it now, and I'll have all summer to enjoy it. I'm just glad I bought my boat two years ago, before I met her! She would have flipped! All this spending will have to come to a stop though, I told her when I turned 23 I would buy us a house...me and my big ol mouth!
  3. most expensive combos -Shimano Calais on a G. Loomis GLX 7'5 Medium Heavy Senko. (760.00) -Abu Garcia EXT Pro on a G. Loomis GLX 7'5 Heavy Fast (620.00) -Shimano Curado 300 on a 7'9 H legend tournament (520.00) -Shimano Chronarch 50 MG on a St. Croix Avid (410.00) It's been an exprensive winter, but gotta spend money on something, why not fishing!
  4. I'm trying to figure out which of these rods to use for carolina rigging? -St. Croix Legend Tournament 7'9 Heavy Fast -G. Loomis GLX 7'5 Heavy Fast -G. Loomis GLX 7'5 Medium Heavy Extra Fast I want to have one tied with a senko...(the glx 7'5 senko) I want one tied with a frog (the glx 7'5 heavy) Leaving the legend tournament open....how bad will it be for rigging? Or would it make more sense for me to use the GLX heavy for rigging, and the legend tournament for frogs? Jim
  5. Thanks Robby! I just finished up sending out my order!
  6. Thanks Ballistick, that would be great. I am trying to get my boat ready for some fishing on the Mississippi in mid April. If i can't find one, I might just have to make it. :-[
  7. Hey guys, I'm hoping that you can help me. On last weeks episode of UMF i noticed a a rod rack on the back of the boat. It held rods across the width of the rear deck. I have looked everywhere for it online but without any luck. Any of you guys know where I can get one of them? Thanks
  8. I need some quick advice and I'm sure that it will prove to be an easy answer for most of you guys on this forum. Up until last year I never used any sort of baitcaster. Some of the guys i work with started riding me about not knowing how to use them. So i bought a cheap Pfluger Purist, and practiced. I liked the concept, but the reel was fluent enough for me, so i tried a Shimano Curado, and fell in love with bait casters. Last year i ended up buying 4 of them, and put braided line on them all. Which brings me to my question...I would like to use a mono for crankbaits, and I'm thinking about Flourocarbon on my Senko Rod. How do baitcasters handle these types of line? Any recomendations on certain brands? I'm thinking Suffix Seige for crankbaits, and Sugoi Flourocarbon for Senkos? Thanks for the help
  9. Hey Guys, I'm pretty new to this forum, but i've read alot of your posts, and have to tip my hat. I've already learned alot. Here's my question.... I've never used a bait caster, just spinning gear, and i've done pretty well with it. But as of late, (well just tonight) the guys at work convinced me to get a bait caster. I'm stubborn but not ignorant. I see the importance of a faster gear ratio for a few applications. Heres what i would like to do with it....I want to fish for bass under the pads. I didn't go all out with the setup, maybe invested 140 bucks into it, but i want to throw jigs through the pads, and have them fall to the bottom. I've never even thought of fishing like this, but it could be fun. I'm thinking of using football jigs (any suggestions on weight) with some kinds of plastics (again open to suggestions) As for line, i've been convinced suffix braid is some great stuff, and am thinking about using their braid in 30 pound test. This should be strong enough to horse the bass out of the thickest of cover! Lets hear everything you have guys. Thanks, JIMMY
