  1. better late than never pm sent
  2. daiwa revros lt
  3. Like others I switched to these and have not gone back to senkos.
  4. electric shad works for me.
  5. I am right handed but started fishing with lefty spinning reels. My first BC was a lefty curado cu201. I've only owned lefties and have no desires to learn to use a righty.
  6. 7lb lmb on a cotton cordell blue chrome pencil popper while chasing stripers.
  7. I agree with all the fellas suggesting big game in 12lb. Once you are proficient, then go braid.
  8. Striped bass and salmon are my favs. This year my brother caught a thresher shark and it tasted like beef. You get lots of meat from them. Have a friend who tried 15lb carp. He said they tasted fatty and oily and that the fish smell is still on his landing net even after a few days. ?
  9. It's your money, spend it how you like.
  10. For spinning I don't use less than 20lb and I go with a stiffer line like power pro, sufix performance and 832. BC, I don't use less than 30lb daiwa j braid (not grand). For topwater I use 50 lb 832.
  11. Call your tackle dealer and see if they do repairs. My local mom and pop does repair for $5 labor. The tips are normally $1.50 to $3 depending on size and brand. They would have a few tackle boxes filled with tips. If the breakage is more than a few inches, consider getting a new rod as the repair would change the action of the rod.
  12. I'm kinda in the same situation. Just got delivery of a few packs of Yum Pulse in 4.5" but won't get to try them since the season is already over. I have been using keitech easy shiner, bass assassin elite shiner and zoom boot tails. I couldn't tell the differences between the three. They all kinda do the same thing. The body profile are very similar between the ba and keitech.
  13. Same here. Bought a couple spinning rods a few years back, both rods came in two smaller boxes that were hastily taped together. Both arrived with broken tips. Amazon was very good in refunding because I did not want to deal with it again. All reels I have bought from them came in new condition unless I purposely bought AWD. Like other have said, buy "sold by and shipped from Amazon" or from retailers who are known to sell sporting goods to avoid issues.
  14. I use Rosco in #2 and #3. They're cheaper if you have a Sportsman Warehouse than on eBay. Even cheaper if you find a website that sells them in bulk.
  15. I clean at the start of every season and little here and there if I feel the reel needs it. I service every 2 or so years. Fully break down the reel, dawn with water in ultrasonic cleaner. Bearings get baby food jar with acetone. Grease and oil when put back together.
  16. I prefer green but buy whatever is on sale. They lose their color sooner or later.
  17. I like all the above. Add the R2S Humbug minnow.
  18. My friend, who works at the local mom and pop outdoor supply store, always say that "expensive nice looking lures are meant to catch the angler."
  19. I'm in the waste of money camp.
  20. I tend to catch them by mistake while throwing cotton cordell pencil poppers for stripers out here on the CA delta. Out here they take all your usual topwaters.
  21. I fish the CA delta where the water is not the clearest. I am straight 50lb 832 braid for reaction baits (topwater, swimbait, lipless crankbait). I do use a 8 inch mono 12-15 lb big game leader for jerkbaits. I tried a mono leader for topwater for one season. Didn't notice any improvements to hook up ratio. Got tired of tying joining knots and went back to straight braid.
  22. 5+ years ago I was a Lew's guy. I started with the 3x speed spool (SS1HL), sold those and bough 3x LFS (SS1HL). Between those two, there isn't much difference in performance. Then I bought a Tournament MB to try. Got excited Lews keep wining icast combo of the year, bought a mach II combo. The machII combo was nice at first but once the new feel wears off, it's not as good as I thought. Like all others, the reel is junk, the drag is now broken and I've used it less than a year. I sold all Lews reel except the MB and the Mach combo is collecting dust. I converted all my reels to the Fuego a couple years back. Overall a much better reel in all aspect except size. I then started on SLX and SLX XT. The SLX sits new in box, never used it at all. I can't say how well it cast or fishes. The XT is a fine reel though. Over the years I have had many "budget" reels, BPS PQ (original), Abu Garcia Black Max, Silver Max and Revo4. As it stands right now, my favs are 1) XT 2) Fuego 3) MB 4)all Lews, Abu, PQ and all the ones made in that Korea co. I just cannot see how a KVD inspired reel would be any better than the MB. So, therefore, I would skip it and buy XT atm.
  23. another + for does not matter.
  24. I've been using keitech easy shiner, bass assassin elite shiner, zoom boot tail on a 1/4 oz jig head with a 3/0 hook. All fish on a 7' m/xf slx rod, shimano casitas 7 ratio reel w/ 30lb sufix 832 braid. I super glue the lure to the jig head. I'm catching them in all sizes. Been catching stripers lately though.
  25. sammy gunfish she dog one knocker rover easiest to walk among them, sammy. i throw all these on a fury 705cb, slx xt, 50 braid with 8" of 20 lb big game mono.
