  1. I vote "that brand that cannot be mentioned" reel, paired with dobyns rods. I picked up a dobyns this year and wish I would have sooner. MH fast, 6' something, it's absolutely my favorite. So whatever people say about dobyns is true
  2. Healthy bass, still spawning, still growing. Could've reached 13-14lbs Oh im not mad about him catching, I'm just upset about keeping her. And yeah it's a quality pond for sure, but there's a reason for that. Selectively keeping a small number of small bass, releasing large bass, harvesting oversized bluegill and crappie. Idk I know it's not my pond, but when you sorta manage it, and only a handful of people fish it kinda gets to you. Ever since he caught that 11.8 he's been there almost every other day hammering it. O well I guess. Just needed to vent about it some. I don't expect everybody to be ethical and courteous. That would be foolish
  3. 5/0 trokar with zoom super salty fluke hands down a real confidence bait Watermelon red and Arkansas shiner for clear water, junebug for murky Least amount of weight the better, it's either weightless or I don't fish it. Something about the slow fall that triggers a reaction strike. Take your time and learn them and they'll be a confidence bait for you
  4. In GA, we actually had a bounty on beavers a few yrs back. Dept of Natural Resources would pay you for every beaver tail you turned in. They were out if control and ruining local fisheries, not just for "selfish man" but for other species and animals. If you have a few and they're not hurting anything I say leave em. But keep a close eye because it won't take long and you'll have an issue on your hands.
  5. So there's a pond by my house i fish, it's a guy from church so i pretty well have full access as well as a few other people from church. Small pond maybe 2acres? I try and fish it maybe 4-5 times a year, number 1 for courtesy number 2 a small pond gets pressured easy I mean it's nothing to go out there and catch 10 over 5lbs, I mean loaded with qaulity fish. I've been pretty much only one fishing it for couple years. Well I talk to a buddy and he asked, have you heard? Heard what I said? So and so caught and 11.8 out of small pond I fish. AND KEPT IT! That wouldn't be so bad had I not have caught that bass last year, took pictures, and released her... I mean come on! Am I wrong to kinda be mad about that??
  6. Oh yeah if your seeing them, they're there. Carolina rig 1ounce weight till you find them then swap to a dropshot so you can feel the bites easier. Try different baits, flukes/lizards/brush hogs etc... Definitely worth fishing if your patient enough I read an article by Mike iaconneli he was fishing 1/4 hair jigs in 40ft of water catching bass
  7. Spinnerbaits and senkos have no place in my box. Not that I don't like em, just don't seem to have a use for em..
  8. I mostly keep my drag buttoned down. Very rarely will a bass take any drag from me. <-- maybe to my error but it works for me. I mainly fish rivers, so bass are accustomed to lots of structure, if you give a bass an inch they will wrap you up quick as can be, shake their head, and leave. So when I hook into one I'm doing my best to get that bass out as quickly as I can. I fish strictly braid, so I know my knot and line will not be a failure. Most of the time straightened hooks are. If I'm fishing a lake with not much structure yeah loosen the drag, fish sissy flouro and play the fish, but I usually don't. My biggest bass was in a pond, got er to the boat an she took off I clicked the bail and gave her some line, did that a few times and netted an 11lb bass. So I guess whatever works
  9. Grew up east of Tampa, hands down loved flipping and on kissimmee
  10. Great story. Go make some more like that I need the laughs. Ohoopee should be rising up fast with all this rain I fish the altamaha an satilla regularly. I know all about the American drunkard and 17 head of kids cannonballing. Can't forget the 25 boats in all the hot bass spots busy panfishing and pissin off bass fisherman haha
  11. I'm with francho, no effect this way, don't use any if those products. Sucks for the guys who do, maybe it'll work out for the better. Maybe Amazon will buy it. They buying everything else
  12. How often do you fish it, and it get fished by bank beaters
  13. In my parts it's a regular thing to be stopped by local game wardens and asked for liscense. Very strict on hunting and fishing, I do alot of hog hunting with dogs and when they hear dogs barking they are quick to come to ya
  14. I agree with the others, if he's your friend just stick with it. It will be frustrating but I think catt nailed it, friends or fishing? Ultimately it's your choice
  15. Nailed it. Some days I go out there with 1 bait, and soley focus on learning that 1 lure. Other than that I'll fish my confidence baits and then move on to fresh water
  16. Those are some fine looking crankbaits. Almost to purty to throw!
  17. Electric blue, zoom mag2 one of my favorites. Don't tell no one
  18. I'm all catch and release, unless my 70yr old Grandpa wants some fresh fish. I'll keep 5-6 dinks I live by the motto "let em go, let em grow"
  19. When you say dead sticking, how long are you leaving the bait motionless? In my mind the fish has too long to look at bait and will quickly realize it to be a fake?
  20. Hmm, NJ. Kinda far from Ga but I'll try to answer. Bass in order spawn in rivers around here, resort to lakes and creeks off of the river. When they get finished spawning to go back into the river where there's current. They go back to structure, breaks, Eddy's, backs of sandbars, out if the current waiting on bait to come floating by. Most of our little bass remain in the creeks and lakes while bigger fish will be around current Hope that helps
  21. I use braid, nothing else. No flouro leader or anything. I have never, and don't plan on using a senko I throw flukes way too often, way too much
  22. Original power pro. Brother-in law used the slick 8 and hated it for the same reasons you mentioned
  23. I throw a jig over a t-rig, you will too soon
  24. Weightless zoom fluke with 5/0 trokar, always keep one rigged up, let it dead stick in the holes and watch your line closely. Glad you figured the pond out
