  1. Don't think so much light line drop shot, but think of a PowerShot, or sometimes called a bubba shot. I've had great success in fishing the kind of conditions you've described. Tie on a bell weight I usually use 1/4 to sometimes 3/8, whatever it takes to get the bait to hold still on the bottom, and usually a 3/0 ewg with your bait of choice(zoom trick worm is my go to) and I usually tie it 1ft-2ft up Just throw it out let it settle, give it a shake or two, let it settle. Then pull it in couple feet and give it another twitch. You'll kinda figure out what works best for you. But thats my advice! And again I've had great success with it in grassy thick vegetation ponds
  2. That's why my baby bass colors work so well....
  3. Ive never used flouro/copoly. I used mono long time back and once I swapped to braid I've never looked back. I use powerpro and every reel I own. But I have a reel that needs new line and so I think I might try the hi seas Grand slam. Thanks for info guys, wish me luck
  4. Solid fish man! Congrats
  5. Welcome fellow Georgian
  6. Depends if I'm gonna fish that bank again. If I am, I'll KVD powerfish the outside edges with a crank or something fast moving, then I'll follow back by with a jig/senko something slow and hit prime(hard to reach) spots If I'm only going to hit that bank once, I'll slow down and hit prime spots from all angles. So I guess for me it depends on how much time I have to cover shoreline.
  7. There are some old mosiac pits off 39 between keysville and plant City. Property was a cow feild but now I think they are putting up subdivisions. If you can get to them ponds before all the public does there are monsters in there
  8. "smoky and the bandit" I'm always getting fooled!
  9. It worked! How long ago was that? Nice bass!
  10. Yep, shakyhead or dropshot black trick worm is my go to winter worms.
  11. Granted I'm in the south, but I've caught all my big crappie in spring during the spawn. All on artificials
  12. I usually throw either white or black/blue depending on water clarity if they're scattered along the bank. If they're schooling eating shad or something similar, I try to match the bait regardless of water clarity. Try to keep it simple!
  13. Brasstown Bald, Ga In honor of Vetrans day
  14. Beautiful Fla Bass! That'll pick ya up
  15. Paid cash for a 16ft tin boat, new decking, 24v trolling motor, new impeller in outboard, and I wear them out! Im a river rat for sure, but can go anywhere I want, pond, lake, or river, and fish the occasional tourney In it for about 3k so far, no regrets. I could afford payments on a big fancy fiberglass boat, but I do just fine with my tin one. To each his own.
  16. My latest caught a couple this size, stopped at a small Creek on my way home from graveyard shift, picked these up with a zoom fluke
  17. I'm fish with only those 2 I mentioned, I have 2 of each That's all I've ever needed, and Poppin frog is main frog I throw, always been a producer for me. My mother in law caught a 10lb bass on black spro frog, zebco 33, 8lb mono, and never set the hook. Fish hooked itself, and stripped drag for 5mins. She had it mounted!
  18. I'm spro all the way. 1 regular black 1 Poppin black
  19. Do most of you guys use exposed hook/jig head or opt for a weedless keel weighted hook approach? Better Hook up ratio?
  20. Yeah you scale is obviously broke, should be 5 where that first 3 is! Nice fish man!
  21. @greentrout good article, 17lb bass on a shaky head in December... That's what drives us to keep going back!
  22. Not me current temp @9:15pm is 55°, planning on a trip Tuesday after work to a local deep Clearwater pond!! My condolences to you folks who have to wait till spring 2019...
  23. I personally throw the unmentionable brand of reels and flat enjoy them. I was a Lew's guy and had a couple revo's, but I'm sold on the concept line... 22lbs of drag, and throws smooth as silk!
