  1. NAILED IT!
  2. Any of the reels will work, You dont have any topwater in your list. Flukes, horny toads, etc. Definitely packs of senkos.
  3. Caught some this weekend on 15lb big game. Enjoyed the stretch!
  4. Let's get this party started!
  5. Every body of water will have some bit a current which will make you bait stand up and move more than you witnessed in your bathtub. Also lake bottoms are uneven which will result in baits standing a bit more than your flat bottom tub. Even a pool has water circulating if you move your tests to there.
  6. You guys have a reel problem
  7. @Mike L- why the hatred of mono, just curious ?
  8. @Catt @WRB - my apologies, cover not structure. I get it wrong sometimes! Yall make me want to downsize my line and tackle just simply for thrill of the fight. It's old timers like yall (please take no offense) that inspire me to be a better fisherman. To actually learn what makes fish react certain ways, things to look for, etc. You are right though, 1-2lb fish is average and we worry about wether to throw 20lb FC or 30lb braid. It is a bit ironic. But I like the point Jbrew made, if I can get away with bigger, why not be extra safe? Really good topic and I like pickin yalls brains
  9. Do yourself a favor and buy one. A hot jerkbait bite is so fun, hookup ratio is phenomenal
  10. Good thread. I cant add anything to what's already been said. That's the reason were members of BassResource because of the passion we have for bass fishing.
  11. I like that @Shimano_1, not sure I have the discipline to stomp everytime though
  12. @WRB - in defence for the braid/heavier line crowd, was your bass over 15, caught in open water or around structure? For those who fish structure, (when I say structure in my mind I'm thinking river current, log jams, stumps, root balls) wouldn't you at least recommend braid? Fishing where I do bass head straight for the closet log they can find. If it's a big lake, sure turn down the drag and let em run
  13. @the reel ess A certain color little 4" swimbait is ??? and it makes it impossible to throw with trailer hook. Let's call the color "Georgia Fire"! Theres nothing worse than missing fish ?
  14. Really good answers, thanks for all the replies. On the issue of long casts, sure I could see the issue of setting the hook with a rubberband, but in my situation 85% of my fishing is short casts, under limbs trying to get as close to the bank as possible. I rigged up mono to try this weekend, if I'm not sold I'll go back to braid.
  15. @Hook2Jaw - Definitely buy some cavitrons you'll be hooked! I was actually gonna use 15lb big game if I did swap! I like that, Ga warm. Should be the name of a worm color @craww - I have tweaked my buzzbaits some, I guess that's another downside to braid?
  16. Sea Assassin for Redfish/trout. Please dont tell anyone about orange swimbaits. I'm really almost out of secrets
  17. I know It might be offensive to you Northern guys where the ice hasn't even thawed yet, but some of us southern fisherman are already slinging topwaters. I really got into buzzbaits last year, super fun bite and I love slinging them boogers. But I've thrown it on braid. 30lb power pro to be exact. Yes there were times an early hookset caused missed fish. My question is how many of you guys throw buzzbaits on mono? Does it help with missed fish opportunities? I've thrown braid for so long I've lost confidence in mono and I'm really trying to build that confidence back up. Plus who doesn't like a good buzzbait topic? #cavitronsftw
  18. Just cast with your other hand then.
  19. Definitely a Fla bait. No bass up north can eat something that big ?
  20. That 5/16 War Eagle spinnerbait is freakin money. Nothing but success from that little spinnerbait. I buy one everytime I'm in Walmart just in case they stop making them ?
  21. Googans? You mean they're still around?
  22. In your OP you said one spot . Uh I have to ask, have you tried moving to a different spot?
  23. Jerkbaits?
