  1. Kayaker here that reads about too many dead kayakers who didn't wear their PFD. Wear your PFD, I don't want to read about you.
  2. Pretty good reels, they definitely add some yardage to my jerkbaits and smaller crankbaits. I can guarantee I'm ticking bottom with a 3xd for a long way thanks to the Elite, and can get my jerkbaits of choice down deep where the bigs look to snack. My favorite thing about this reel is how well it tosses light and heavy offerings way out there.
  3. The Head Hunter Fire Tail Craw appears to be a very innovative crankbait that doesn't copy other crankbaits on the market! It's $7.95.
  4. Short rod frogman here. 6'9" Daiwa Tatula Elite Skippin' Jig HF 8 speed Daiwa Tatula SV103 50# Berkley X9 I typically throw frogs right after the spawn until jerkbait season in the fall.
  5. Flip and pitch that jig, too. Hard targets in the muck, like stumps and lay downs are irregulaties and fish love them.
  6. Gonna go against the grain of this thread, I don't think many people saw you included lipless, jerkbaits, and other diving hard baits. I could definitely fish a crankbait year round, I really enjoy them on several of the lakes near me. They're mostly hard bottom with little or no vegetation, and those that do have vegetation have places that I can crank that produce well. Post spawn to fall, I am happy chucking and winding a 3XD, squarebill, or 5XD. Fall to the spawn is all about the jerkbait for me, and I'll figure out the lipless soon enough. I would really miss the shakyhead, flipping jig, and dropshot, though.
  7. I have four cranking setups, and each of them have a designated task and line size. The first is my ⅜-¾ ounce cranking rod, and since it sometimes throws a squarebill I rock 12# fluorocarbon on it. The second is dedicated to small, deep diving crankbaits; 3XDs and the like. It has 10# test on it because those cranks just don't cast well and bottom contact is absolutely key for me. The third is my deep cranking rod, and I run 14# on it because those #2 hooks need a little more oomph on the sweep-set. The last is my ½ ounce squarebill rod, which rocks 16# fluorocarbon for beating wood and rock.
  8. Y'all don't buy up all my Craw Chunks. I caught my PB with that trailer and a whole mess of big bass with it on the back of a jig. It's a very good bait for the amount of money you spend.
  9. 16# Yo-Zuri Topknot. I hardly catch them on spinnerbaits, it's just the same rod I throw my chatterbaits on.
  10. Kinda bummed me out to see Welcher walk off the stage like he did.
  11. My guy did the dang thing. My day is made.
  12. I need Jason to load up on a big jig bite in the next 55 minutes.
  13. Shakyhead? Z-Man Fattyz. Texas rigs get YUM Dingers most of the time, but I'll mix in YUM Ribbontails, ZOOM Ol' Monsters, and Z-Man Mag Fattyz. The summer typically sees the baits with action, as well as the post spawn.
  14. The Deal, by Z-Man.
  15. They mostly to underwater and head somewhere else. I've had one sow come off the bank and beeline at me, but I was near her young. You ever seen a 10' Pelican kayak move like it's got a 250 on it?
  16. I own one Vision 110, I haven't caught a fish on it. I don't know why it doesn't produce for me, maybe I've got a bad one -- that idea is unsettling. I'm glad I don't need to buy more, they're entirely too expensive, I daresay, for what they are. Megabass annoys me charging so much. You're not getting 25 dollars worth of product. I've caught a lot of jerkbait fish these past two Fall to Spring periods, and I can tell you the baits that work for me. First, the Jackall Rerage 110. I don't think there's a jerkbait on the market that casts as well as the Rerange. It also suspends well out of the box and has great action. The long casts will get this bait deeper than others in it's class. I prefer to have a ghost, matte, and chrome finish with me. Second, the Strike King KVD Deep. This bait casts decently, but where it really shined for me this year was being able to get deep on a short cast. I'm sure there's a time and place for it to be in 10', but that situation didn't arise for me this year. It suspends well and has a great side to side action. Third, the Yo-Zuri 3DB Jerkbait 110 is very similar to the Jackall Rerange in build and capability, but it doesn't cast nearly as well without the tungsten weight transfer system. The aforementioned covers water in relatively open areas, this bait has become my cover jerkbait simply because it hurts less if I lose it. I fished last weekend, and boated a nice 4# on the 3DB. Honorable mention to the H2O Express Ultimate Jerk Shad. I caught a 7# on it the first winter I threw a jerkbait, and while I don't buy them anymore, I wouldn't hesitate to throw them if I didn't have the above three options.
  17. Someone has never spooked a school of redfish, had them zoning out on crabs, or found a school of trout after a cold front. ?
  18. Paddletail swimbaits, I don't get bit on them. I fish them fine in the inshore salt, but regularly zero with them in freshwater.
  19. 13 Fishing makes a great Medium powered rod in various lines, I use a discontinued 13 Fishing Fate Chrome 6'7" Medium Fast. It's got enough tip to walk easily and enough flex to keep small trebles pinned.
  20. 1. Jerkbait 2. Deep Jerkbait 3. Dropshot
  21. Life or death, all day session? Z-Man Fattyz in The Deal with a ¼ bullet or ³/¹⁶ shakyhead.
  22. Kayak anglers have been fishing as well or better than boat guys for a while, and they need to go all in on their kayak series and put some camera boats on these guys. I'm rooting for Drew Gregory, he's a great guy and absolute hammer. He also fishes from the same brand of kayak as me.
  23. I'm running a 12v 100ah Dakota Lithium because I needed a battery then and there, but if I had a chance to wait I'd grab an Amped outdoors battery. They've been in the game a while and they're reasonably priced in comparison to a lot of the brands.
