  1. I only have two truly light line techniques that I have faith in for bass. The first is a Ned rig with various plastics and fished with the Swim, Glide and Shake retrieve. The second is the drop shot with a YUM Sharpshooter, Kill Shot, or ZOOM Tiny Fluke. I fish both on a 6'10" Medium Light rod with a 2500 series reel.
  2. Thanks for the information, guys! Though I didn't start the thread, it's definitely helpful for tons of folks around here. Now if I could just have the faith in my electronics to hit the deep structure and cover.
  3. I think you made a good choice. I enjoy my 7'6" Tatula XT for pitching, flipping, and deep Carolina rigs and casting jigs. They're great sticks for the buck.
  4. You can make an ascend seat work on those hulls. I did it to a 2010 and it made for a jam up boat.
  5. I may or may not be asking for a Daiwa Ryoga as my wedding present. Barring that, I own one Daiwa Millionaire Classic UTD and I killed it tossing big swimbaits.
  6. I've captured an alien. The heck is this thing? I barely stopped it from eating the shiny skirted thing I was watching flash in the water.
  7. Thanks, guys. I ended up with a Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9" Skippin' Jig HF ¼-1½ for 25% off and ordered a Tatula SV TWS103 8.1:1 for 25% off as well. Time will tell if I like it or not, I'm a little worried.
  8. Thanks, @FryDog62. I ended up tossing a bit of a joke offer on a Daiwa Tatula Elite 6'9" Heavy Fast "Skippin' Jig" and it ended up being accepted. I hope I haven't pigeonholed myself out of a sensitive Texas rig rod by making my silly offer. I guess I've joined the 200 bones rod club.
  9. Attack the laydowns from the top of the tree to avoid wedging baits. Learn to bow and arrow to get out of tight spots, if you don't know how to already. I avoid Texposing when I target wood cover and prefer the hook just under the plastic. Everything else I wanted to say has already been stated. Excellent information, guys.
  10. Sanity is overrated. I went out yesterday in the 96 degree Georgia heat and whipped them with a spinnerbait and swimjig in 94 degree water.
  11. I have a slight grasp on skipping so far with my Fuego CTs and Tatula 100s, but need a more sensitive and lighter rod for my worming and jigging. I'm also hoping the setup will enable me to skip longer and more accurately. I'm fishing from a kayak and standing is often possible, but I can skip from a seated position as well. I'm 6', and I'm probably 3-5" away from the surface of the water when I skip. I would prefer to use braid to leader on the reel. I'll be trying on Texas Rigs with at least a ¼, 3/0, and plastic as well as jigs between ⅜-½ with a trailer. I hope this information helps guide you guys to help me make a good selection. So, the reel is going to be a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS103 8:1. I've narrowed my rod choices down to these options. Daiwa Tatula Bass 6'10" MHF ¼-1oz Daiwa Tatula XT 7' MHF ¼-1oz 13 Omen Black 3 7'1" HF ⅜-1oz If you guys have any other suggestions from the 13 or Daiwa rod lineups under 150 bones, I'm all ears. Thanks, BR.
  12. I own reels from all the brands that start with a D and end with a WA.
  13. I've been able to hold myself to ten more casts.
  14. I always put a lot of time in when I get the chance, and I could not agree more!
  15. I finally have faith in the spinnerbait. ⅜ Booyah Blades in Perch, Chartreuse&White. They have been absolutely slurping worms for me. 7½ YUM Ribbontails in Watermelon Black Flake. ⅛ for grass and ¼ out of the grass on a 3/0 Lazer Sharp EWG. During the heat of the day, between 11-3 or so, I've had success dropshotting a YUM Sharpshooter wacky rigged in Morning Dawn and Watermelon Black Flake. ³/¹⁶ dipsey sinker and a size 1 hook.
  16. How well do you catch them on the CRD+?
  17. I think Florida would probably be your best bet for tons of smaller water in addition to a large number of lakes.
  18. Feelfree. Moken. 12.5. V2. Seriously, I think it's the best value and performance per dollar for a paddled kayak at the moment. Very feature rich and highly customizable. My brother and I are going to be setting one up for him soon.
  19. Old Town, Hobie, and Native make amazing kayaks. I love my Predator. You're gonna love the Topwater!
  20. @bwjay, I think you might be paddling versus my pedalling and that's the difference. A pedal drive really allows me to work a spot pretty easily and I've never been in a better tracking kayak than my Predator PDL. Anyway, on the topic of fishing a jig, one of my favorite things is I don't have to be all that precise with the plastic I tread on and can generally tear them straight if I need to.
  21. I kayak fish in lakes, rivers, and ponds and don't really have an issue with jig fishing. I probably don't pick areas apart that well.
  22. I'm going to sell you all to another bass forum if I have to keep clicking this hoping something is on sale only to find all this talk of DSG! I'll get us back on track. https://fishingskirts.com/clearance-sale/ There are some fire deals on jigheads right here. https://cbcustomjigs.com/product-category/c3-jig-heads/a-ultra-point-jig-heads/ This one isn't a sale, but at the price it basically is. I like their standard ball head jigs and the Manic Mullet in the applicable sizes! Eat them up.
  23. Gotta love it when 13 pounds of drag engages because you just cracked one so hard. The day after I got my first heavy pitching stick, I had to relearn things a bit. Every fish I smacked was immediately turned towards me and they were running right towards the boat.
  24. I have a blue handled WN and it has performed flawlessly in the fresh and the salt. I wonder if you got a bad reel.
