  1. I battled between buying a kayak that is super stable while standing and casting versus a boat that is fast and can handle a bit of current. I recommend you choose between the two because the boat that can do both very well is a rare unicorn. I am sure plenty of folks have this exact perfect balance in their boat but I have decided on a different kayak for each. Hope this helps man.
  2. So today I burned through both my new, fully charged AA rechargeables and spare Duracells running a Helix5, in less than 3 hours on the water. Whats the proper solution for a kayak fishfinder battery? Thanks yall.
  3. Give me till the end of the year Hammer. If there are still no teeth marks on any of them by Christmas, you've got a deal.
  4. Like QuarryMan, I love the Ima Skimmer but its big brother, the Ima Lillte Stick pencil popper glides much longer. Great walking bait in the wind because it causes quite a ruckus.
  5. AJ, does the sink rate change depending on water temp? Thanks man!
  6. Can I please catch a bass on a glide bait? Please?!
  7. You can absolutely use a ned setup for trout. I think a good inline spinner setup would throw a ned just fine. I have only to add what another member was so wise to recommend which was the Lifted Jigs EWG Ned head. My lakes here in middle TN are deep with rock and wood. I have gone multiple days using the same head without breaking off. Swims through trash well and sticks em right in the roof of the mouth. Good luck bro! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lifted_Jigs_Ned_EWG_Jig_Heads_3pk/descpage-LIFTND.html
  8. Concrete block, sackrete, and corrugated pvc pipe, or tile as yall say in Michigan. Good luck man.
  9. Hey Michigander-you ever sunk any brushpiles?
  10. Kill the grass and the bass will make a bee-line for any hard structure. Wood, docks, riprap, a picnic table...
  11. I am with you Tizi. The temptations are constant and multiple when fishing is your passion and you are always thinking about it. I have mostly cut off the internet ordering but I find I enjoy the visit to the tackle/toy store. Got to find a way to avoid those visits. I would encourage you to look through any tackle and donate any you will not use. The gift will mean as much to you as it will the lucky folks who get some new lures.
  12. When I tie an FG, upon finishing my weaves and then making the first overhand knot, I then pull both the braid and leader to tighten the weaves. If there are any imperfections in the knot it will let you know by slipping. Lightweight braid can sometimes have a hard time biting into the leader material. A good option B is an 8 or 9 loop Alberto knot. Hope that helps bro.
  13. So you show up to your honey hole, a great lake for BIG fish, usually 3-5' visibility. You are prepared to throw BIG glide baits, hudds etc, the water is chocolate milk. How do you still target BIG fish when the water is YooHoo? Is it time to fall back and just try to catch anything? And none of this go back home nonsense! Thanks yall!
  14. Fishes With Trees, as I was reading down through the answers on this post was hoping to see you respond. We have discussed the bubba in previous posts and I remember agreeing with your replies. Now about that tube on the Gammy hook you fish, are you saying you slide the line through that tube for your dropper? Thanks man!
  15. Rogues and Rapala jerks yes. Flatstick not so much. I looked at them and did not love the rattles.
  16. For $59 the 13 Defy cranking rods are an excellent value.
  17. Wind advisory there today. Winds 20 gusting to 35. After that poor guy died on Okechobee a few years back, the rules changed. 6 foot waves just plain suck anyway.
  18. My real improvement started when I became committed to learning new techniques. 2017 it was the senko. 2018 was dropshot. 2019 ned rig. All of these are now confidence baits for me, and now the education never ceases. I was able to learn these by listening to my peers here on BR. Many thanks yall!
  19. I just scratched that itch. This net seems fairly well put together, decent size for a yak. Have not caught anything big enough to test it yet but I remain hopeful! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Promar_Pro_Float_Landing_Nets_/descpage-PRPFL.html
  20. I use VMC Crankbait snaps in size 0 for treble hook baits up to 1/2oz, then go up to a size 1 for anything up to 1 oz. Decoy makes an excellent snap- you will find them on ZMan jackhammer chatterbaits.
  21. I am always trying to throw stuff other guys arent. The prop style bait seems to be off the radar these days in favor of faster moving baits like ploppers but there are times and places that the prop bait is the better choice. Anyone ever heard of a Gilmore Lures Jumper prop bait? Double super secret old school wooden prop bait that gets em!
  22. Heck yeah girls fish tournaments!
  23. How bout an A rig?
  24. This was my first swimbait rod. Good stick but for another $25, the iRods Genesis JrSwimbait rod smokes it. Bought it also the large swimbait stick. Vastly superior to the Okuma, so much easier to throw. Put a Tatula200 on that IRrods and Kaboom! Best of luck with your purchase.
