  1. Hey, welcome to the forum!
  2. I use a 7’ mh/f, but I’m thinking about going a little shorter. Depends on the lure tho, something like a frog I like having the 7’, but for poppers or walking baits I could see myself going shorter.
  3. Jason, nice to meet you and welcome! I too wish I had more time to fish, but we have to get it where we can!

That’s quite an experience to be able to say you have had. I’m sure you never knew just how big that band would come to be. Its crazy where that band has me traveling! I’ve been thinking about coordinating a phish/fishing tour where each stop on the bands tour I drop in to a local lake and go after some bass. Part of the reason I’m looking for heads on here! Anyways, thanks for sharing, and wether you realized it or not at the time, that show you were at in 88 was something many people would kill to have been at! tight lines!
  5. At least you’ve been having enough action to have “ones that got away” ?! I have been having a rough couple days. I also broke off a 20$ glide bait last night which was frustrating...
  6. I wouldn’t say you are an idiot for reacting the way you did. Didn’t seem like you made that drastic of an adjustment in the vid, that fish could have hopped off for any number of reasons.
  7. Yard carp hahaha! I just act like they aren’t there. In my experience they are more bark than bite. My biggest problem with them is they turn some of my fishing holes into there personal restroom. It’s ok, I have a pair of shoes designated for these spots!
  8. Situational I would presume, I almost only throw hollow body and popping frogs though.
  9. I always have my drag set fairly firm with just the slightest amount of give if I am to hook into a giant. For cranks I believe having a moderate action to your rod is more important in softening that tension. I haven’t really put much thought into drag settings but in my opinion, better too tight than too loose. Funny story: over the winter months I store my reels with the drag all the way loose. My first outing of the season I went to set the hook, swung pretty hard and my drag was so loose it caused my reel to backlash. That fish didn’t make it to the boat. ?
  10. How many times I have done this, I do not know, but I have a feeling we aren’t alone my friend! That being said said I like to start with a moving bait to see if I can get a reaction bite going (lipless cranks, squarebills, spinnerbaits, bladed jigs...etc). If that isn’t happening I will almost always throw a wacky rigged stick bait. That’s just my personal preferance, but I’d say you should start with the style you enjoy fishing the most and are most confident with. Once you get rid of the skunk you can afford to try some new techniques! Just my two cents, good luck out there!

Must have been at Nectars. That’s pretty cool, I first saw them in 2013.

    Any phans out there?
  13. Dialed in my chronarch ci4 and curado i once out of the box and haven’t touched the internal brakes since. I can throw 1/8th oz baits up to an ounce without changing anything. They are set and forget for me...unless we are both fishing them wrong ?!
  14. I’ve had this problem with my Curado I before, but after a few minutes of jimmying I got it closed properly. Sounds like you’ve tried just about everything though...let us know what you end up doing!
  15. @JustJames perfect, thanks for the pic James!
  16. Gonna go chuck a glide bait, hoping for a big girl, but likely just gonna be another day practicing my casting ?!
  17. Thanks for sharing I’m sure that was a fun one to catch! Welcome!
