I started using the senko under a bobber last year after reading about it here and a few other sites. It turned out to be my most productive method last year. I followed a rig I saw on this site which is basically a slip bobber rig you would use with live bait. I had good results using the Berkley Maxscent General stickbaits. I also would cut the ends of the them to create tentacles on the ends, like on the end of a tube. One thing I struggled with was what depth to set the worm. Most of the time I would set it about mid depth of the area I was fishing. Does anyone else fish senkos under a bobber regularly and have any tips or tricks to share? Thanks!
Hello,
I was watching a Roland Martin you tube video last night and a tip he gave was to use a swivel when texas rigging a worm(he was rigging a senko). He used the swivel to keep the worm from sliding down the hook. He didn't go into detail as to how this actually works and how to rig it. Has anyone here done this? If so can you explain this in more detail and maybe even a close up picture of it? Thank You!
I was on vacation last week and was able to try out some trolling for smallmouth. It turned out to be one of the most productive techniques of the week. Nothing big but still fun. I tried one of the salmo Hornets and that worked the best.
Thanks all for the help! Going to try some more this weekend.
Oh yes, I did see that on one I caught last weekend. I was thinking scars on top of their head, and sometimes sides. Thats what I have seen when they are feeding on crawfish. I will be out on Friday, taking a friend out to catch his first Mille Lacs smallmouth.
I am looking for some lures and/or presentations to use trolling for smallmouth bass. I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and it has been giving me some trouble when casting lures. Looking for some alternative fishing methods, thought I could give trolling a shot.
Thanks
I fish Mille Lacs most weekends and I have definately seen a difference in the fishing since the hype by BASS. It is still excellent fishing but I have found it harder to catch them.
It's possible the scars were from the smallies digging in the rocks for crawfish. One I caught yesterday had a mouthful of crawfish.
Hello All,
I found this great website while doing a google search on bass fishing. I am very impressed with the wealth of knowledge this site has to offer. Thank you for this and for all the help it will provide me in the future. I live in Minneapolis and enjoy fishing out of my kayak for Largemouth Bass around the cities. My wife and I have a cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. I enjoy fishing Mille Lacs for the Smallmouth Bass, last year I caught 2 of my personal best smallmouth's both over 6 lbs. I look forward to interacting with everyone!
