  1. There is somebody on one of the Facebook bass auction pages that is selling what looks like to be a Knock off yum craw bug but, solid. I’ll try and find a pic
  2. Been a while since I’ve been around but, been busy getting ready for spring. About 3 weeks ago Walmart had the skeet Reese crank rods 50% off so I picked it up and paired it with a 5:4:1 phleuger supreme bait caster also so picked up some clacking raps. Never used those before but, I am looking forward to them this spring Picked up the zoom bundle on eBay for 12 bucks with free shipping from Hawaii. I really wanted to try the caffeine shad. It’s 1/2 and 1/2 of sealed and opened bags but, for the price gives me a opportunity to try trick worms, shaky worms, yum dingers/baby dingers, and yum craw chunks. Also up graded my fish finder to a Garmin Striker 4 cv which hasn’t arrived yet. It will be perfect for my 14 Tin boat. When I get a bigger boat next year I’ll use the unit for ice fishing
  3. Well I think this might be one of the last large scale tackle purchases. As hunting season is around the corner. I’ll still replace the stuff o run out of like worms, trailers, and such. Okeechobe tiny paca chunk big bite baits 2.75 black neon chunk green pumpkin and blk blue shadow Christie critters ( have been good to me this year t-rigged and worked like a t-rigged worm) green pumpkin trd gama 4/0 offset worm hooks ordered from tacklecware house
  4. Here is the jig from the last post that I lost three smallies on including the big one. I painted, added weed, guard, and put the skirt on. The skirt is from fishingskirts.com
  5. So I put the boat in in off of center street in Saginaw on the Tittabawassee River. The Day started off fast but, I missed 3 smallies right off the bat and the one was a nice one. Than it slowed way down but, I was able to pick up this 17 inch smallie on a pb&j jig with a green pumpkin paca chunk. I didn’t pour this jig but, rather I bought a bunch of unpainted arkie and football head jigs from a guy on the forum. I did powder coat it, add weed guard, and put the skirt on.
  6. I was just thinking of changing the rusty bearings out before it locked up on me while on the water. Factory replacement ones are very little money.
  7. What is the Ball park figure for up graded bearings For spinning reel? Or does it depend on the reel? I have a favorite spinning reel that I’ve have had for 8 years and noticed this spring that the bearings on the oscillating shaft had some rust in them. The reel works fine but, I’m wondering if this winter I should replace them?
  8. Lead is not harmless but, it is not the boogey man that is has been made out to be. with common sense precautions it is not dangerous. Yes if high levels of lead enter the body it can mess you up and be fatal. However, it takes certain sets of circumstances for this to happen. Lead becomes dangerous once it oxidizes. lead paint for example is nothing but, oxidized lead. Lead in most cases ( I wont say never) will not oxidize in water and break down. It is a natural element found in the earth. The only way non oxidized lead is dangerous is if you eat it ( if you were casting sinkers and don't wash your hands before drinking or eating). if you had a open wound it could possibly get into the wound if you are really carless and do not wash after words. The issues with the birds is mainly comes from lead shot from shot guns. the shot will hide in the water weeds and ducks ingest it while rooting around and eating lake weeds. Most sinkers will just get sucked up in the mud never to be seen again.
  9. No, I am just implying that I can not catch a fish on a senko to see how durable they are.
  10. I’ve grown up fishing Lake Michigan. I have seen some ridiculously stupid things on the lake in pursuit of salmon. Boats like mine trying to fish out to the bank which is 2-3 miles out of Frankfort where it goes from 70ish feet of water to sbout 140 in 5 foot of length. I Figure my fishing radius is about 2-3 miles from shore while fishing most of the bay on a really really good day. Ive done 4-5 miles out before in the boat from quincassee area but,I wasn’t alone and it is shallower on the south end. I still had my hand held marine radio with me though. I don’t have a problem following the coast for a long ways I figure if weather came up worse case is I could beach it untill it blew through. however, being way out there in a 14 footer isn’t for the faint of heart.
  11. Thanks that is it. It is a fairly durable worm I was getting 3-4 fish per worm. If it keeps working I will get rid of my senko’s and use these instead.
  12. Well it was a killer on Saginaw bay rigged wacky style last Thursday.
  13. So I bought this pack of worms at Dunham’s for 2.99 for 20 of them. It is made by zoom but, the store had all the mfg ID covered up with thier own UPC codes. It is about 5-6 inches long ( havnt measured it exactly). Closest thing I can find is a trick stick or finesse worm. However both of those worms have a taper towards the tail this one does not. I’d like to get at least one more color for dirty water.
  14. I don’t think I’ll make it out there in my boat
  15. I also have a size 20 President on my trout/panfish rod and I love it. If it is not smooth out of the box take it back somthing is wrong with it. Every company let’s one bad one slip out the doors I know this for a fact because, I do QC/QA for a living. Like another poster stated it might not be phluegers fault and somebody may have returned it that way. Save the head ache short and long term and exchange it.
  16. I use a black maxx combo that I bought form Walmart. I am actually impressed with the black maxx rod that came with combo. I think I paid 69.99 for the black maxx rod and reel combo. The reels by themselves can be had for 39.99 at Walmart. So far with 2 months into it ( I fish 1-2 a week) the only thing bad I have to say about the reel is that on the bigger cranks( KVD size 5 or 6) with big lips it will bog down/ bind a bit on the retrieve. I have had it apart and the gears are all metal . I have not personally used the silver maxx. I am thinking of getting the pro maxx for a worm/tube rod
  17. Thursday, I took the whole day off from work and headed north to the little town of Au Gres Mi. Au Gres is located on the Au gres river which, empties into the Saginaw Bay and than lake Huron. I left home at 7 am and after stopping at franks great outdoors ( never been before) for 2 stroke oil, Ned rig Worms , ned jigs, and other tackle. I launched at the state launch at 10am. I fished for almost 9 1/2 hours, anchored and had lunch on the bay. I was back at the launch and had the boat loaded up for home at 8pm. Originally I was after small mouth but, this was the first time I have had the boat out on the bay solo and I didn't really have the nerv to go out where the small mouth were in my 14 foot tin can ( its a big 14 foot deep-V though). For the first 4 hours all I had to show for it was a nice size rock bass and 13 inch large mouth. It took me a while to figure it out. I ran about 2 miles down the coast to the next channel. As I was coming through the channel almost to when I watched another angler in a pontoon catch a large mouth in a large clump of reeds. After he left I slid in to the spot and with a Zoom finesse worm rigged wacky style I pulled 4 large mouths out in 5 minutes. So finally I figured something out with some help. Basically, I just cruised along the shore line while casting into the reeds and other brush along the shore line ( some of it was 100 yards from shore) and when it was all said and done I had boated 20 large mouth. Nothing too large but, all between 13-15 inches long. I think 12 came on the wacky rigged pumkin colored Zoom finesse worm ( I think it is a finesse worm the place I bought it from had all the orginall ID and upc codes covered up). This was also the first time I have ever had success on a wacky worm set up. The other bass came on a green pumkin Christie critter t-rigged. Talking with other angles I now have a good idea where the small mouth are for next time
  18. Just like you would a senko. What’s nice to is the trick worm will allow you to move the O-ring around. The senkos wouldn’t allow me to do that. Where ever the wacky tool put the o-ring on a senko is where it stayed. this trick stick Caught about 12 of my 20 fish today edit: I am only assuming this is a trick stick. I bought this pack from a discount sporting good store. they put thier UPC codes over anything that could ID this worm from zoom
  19. Seeings how I finally was able to get the wacky rig to work for me. That is my favorite one at the moment with a zoom trick stick/worm. Still can’t get a senko worm to work to save me life.
  20. For ned rigs and tubes with exposed hook I seem to loose more fish on a sharp hard hook set. Usually in these set ups I usually just reel untill the line is tight and than/sweep the rod back untill a good bend is in the line.
  21. I use 8 lbs spider wire flouro coated stealth braided line. I have had it on for 3 months on my spinning reel and havnt had a issue. I have had to wrench them out of some decent trash and it has performed good. First year using braid excusilvy on 2 of my rods
  22. So as a bday present to my self I picked up Step by step rod building put out by flex coat. I’ve been wanting to build a rod for like 5 years. After reading this manual/book it dosent look so intimidating ( I don’t know why I didn’t want buy it sooner). I am thinking a winter project for a start date. Is there any other reading material or you tube videos I should watch? I know about mudhole, Janns etc.. I’m not looking to start business or do this for a living. Maybe build a rod every once in a while if it goes good. I think a worming rod would be nice to have.

  24. That looks really good. You will smile when you catch your first fish on it.
