  1. I think the berkley finisher looks very interesting as well. The finisher I believe wouldn’t be as FFS depended as the krej. the finisher is like a jerk bait, lipless crank, and jigging rap rolled into one.
  2. do you have a picture of one of your buck tail football jigs ?
  3. went to the surplus store in carson city ( same people own the one in chesaning) to pick up some minnie’s for ice fishing sunday. The fishing selection that place has is amazing. they have doubled thier size in 2 years and it’s pretty much all fishing stuff in the new addition. they do get a lot of over stock from the previous year but, also have new this year tackle. looks like 13 fishing is discounting the cliff banger cranks? because, they had boxes of them for $3.99. i wasn’t looking to buy cranks today but, for that price i’ll bite. looks like TW and other sights are blowing the cliff bangers out. i will be going back for more. size 60 epic shad size 60 in epic gill size 70 in olive crush power pro 20 lbs in hi-vis yellow 12 lbs big game and a #7 black and silver shad rap. should be ice fishing sunday. crystal lake had 4-5 inches of solid black ice.
  4. war eagles are my favorite spinner bait. if i can find good deals on booyah, strike king, or any other brand i’ll snatch them up. But, if i can’t find the other brands for a discount i generally pass on them. I have been tinkering with my own the last 2 years. so eventually i wont have to buy any spinner baits.
  5. the 2nd rod arrived and it arrived in a pvc tube. I appreciate that quick turnaround and no fuss from lure parts.
  6. So to go along with my vmms seat. I bought a R3215 Fuji Hidden Thread Up Or Down Locking Foregrip. 1st question the hood seems to hold the reel very securely. my question is should i use the hidden hood by its self or with the locking ring that came that came with the reel seat. which, pictures is correct ? both ways seem to work. 2nd on the cork at the top of the hidden hood where the rod comes through. traditionally a winding check would be put there. i’m assuming no winding check or wrap goes there.
  7. I 2nd the cutco knife. I don’t have one but want one. , my brother does have a cut co and he swears by it for cutting up King salmon, coho, steal head and lake trout. If it ever dulls you can send it in and they will sharpen it for you free of charge. if you really want to spend some money like $150-$200 check out rapid river knife works from da Upper Peninsula of Michigan near glad stone. these are made for outdoors men/women to be used and not displayed. 100% made in the USA. Rapid river knives are hand down to your kids type of quality. 100% life time guarantee and free sharpening for life. even if you break the knife doing something stupid. rapid river will take care of you. they won’t replace the knife but, they can fix it ( might be a shorter knife afterwards) as long as the owner hear’s it out of your mouth that you screwed up and broke it. Mike avery is always talking about them on his show. Rapid river knives are the best around. the guy that owned rapid river started out at marbles in gladstone.
  8. thank you for this.
  9. lure parts put a new blank in the mail today. just had to send photos.
  10. well the blank and a bunch of other stuff arrived today from lure parts. only tiny issue is that the MHX SJ843 was snapped in half by the post office. I got a hold of lure parts sent them the pictures. Hopefully they have a new one in the mail tommrow. First blank i’ve had destroyed by the post office. i’ve had 5-6 blanks now delivers through the mail.
  11. it works well with working soft plastic through sparse grass. sparse eel grass is a good place to use the free rig. it kinda ticks over the top or side steps the grass. where as t-rig will just plow into the grass and get gummed up. also, it’s just something differnt.
  12. the top spro in your picture is the one i’m talking about the MD 50 not MD 55 my mistake.
  13. spro little john MD 50 is a multi species killer. bass, Northerns, and walleye love to hammer them. only need 2 colors silver olive back and chartreuse blue back. spro little john. sexy shad KVD strike king 1.5 makes a good inexpensive flat side. bunch of good colors. Fat free shad are on my buy list to try i have a couple fritzsides but, havnt really used them. I probably should be using them early season seeings how they suspend.
  14. will the boiling water trick work for elaztech ?
  15. michigan resident all species ( we used to have 2 licenses one for trout and salmon and 1 for inland non trout water) 17 yrs and older is $26. It is good untill march 31st of the following year. I believe I can purchase a 2024 license beginning February or March of 2024? but, 2023’s fishing license expires on march 31st 2024. I usually don’t buy mine untill the end of march.
  16. I have a lot stuff i need to get rid of. Most of it will probably go to the trash and i’ll give some to my nephew. I try to stick to a 2 year rule. If i havnt used it or caught a fish on that lure. i’m getting rid of it. Seems the used market is pretty much flooded with tackle, boats, rods and reels. between shipping cost, ebay costs, pay pal, etc, etc. it just seems like isn’t worth the time effort to try and sell it and get what pennie’s on the dollar i could get. By the time you factor in all the above costs for most used items a person might as well by new. Honestly other than deep diving jerk baits i’ll stock up on the plastic i need and call it good this year. not this fall but, the next i want to upgrade my boat to a bass boat.
  17. lipless cranks both jigging the 3/4 oz lucky craft LVO and cranking 1/2 oz rat L traps and 6th sense crush. Went back to fishing the ned rig. mainly on the smallest 1/10 size. on windy days i’d upsize to 1/6 size and crushed some smallies and large mouth on it mid summer. Before, i was only throwing it in the spring for whatever reason. Also, threw spooks this year quite a bit and had some success walking the dog in top. Buying that No.7 color from lure net got me started down that road.
  18. yeah i totally see that. maybe i’ll use the boxes for smy spine craws and bandito bugs and other craws.
  19. so i’m thinking of going this way for my craws and or creature baits. last couple of years ive just been noticing a lot distorted craws and other body parts. my only question is for the berkley power bait and maxx scent stuff. the scents infused into the plastic ? if i put them in the plano type boxes the scent shouldn’t evaporate will it ?
  20. chatter bait, all types of cranks, and spinner bait. not throwing the chatter bait and spinner bait was a mistake on my end. I usually pound fish with both in the spring. However, i was too busy messing around with other stuff. The cranks though just didn’t produce for some reason. we had a very mild winter last year which, i think promoted more weed growth than usual. The summer was also very mild. a lot of the water i fished never got above 75-78 degrees. So i think the fish never really went deep until late august. which, i was basically done fishing last year at that time. i threw plastics from early may untill october. i’ve had years where i don’t get into the soft plastics untill june some years.
  21. i was wondering about the speed bags being discontinued. i picked up like 4 of big worm bags late last year for $5 a piece at the local surplus store. The local surplus store sells outdoors equipment but, unless it’s walleye tackle. they usually buy last years tackle from the big stores or wholesale at a heavy discount. i really liked the speed bags
  22. here is a major score from my favorite ebay vendor from alabama. 4 lucky craft LVO’s 3/4 oz ( 2 gold & 2 striped gill). bottom 3 right side 3 magic-man 75 3/4oz in louisiana frog cakes. and 3 magic man 65’s 1/2 oz in chicken of the sea. got it all for $70 shipped. that translucent gill color should be killer early spring with a lot of the clear lakes that i fish. I always like throwing gold on cloudy days First impressions of the 13 magic man lipless cranks is very favorable. these are well well made. I like the color line up that 13 has. havnt fished them yet though. i think im set on 3/4 oz lipless baits but, i could buy more of those 1/2 oz. I could see me buying a few more 1/2 oz rattle traps as well. lousiana frog color could be a bunch of different bait fish up here. chicken of the sea, i don’t like super bright chartreuse baits. i like the chartreuse to be more subdued. best time to throw chartreuse is the last hour-half before the sun goes down.
  23. so i’m keeping things very basic this year. only real things on my shopping list are lipless cranks and deeper +1 and +2 jerk baits. i’ve got twins on the way so i don’t really know how much fishing i’ll be doing past june. plan building one bass spining rod and walleye vertical jigging rod which, i already have reels for. these all came from walmart In St.johns. that OG6 is a replacement for one i lost on the titabawassee last year. bottom to top googan lipless 1/2 oz rat l trap 1/2 oz shad rap rs-7 in perch shallow shad rap -7 in perch og-6 in silver black back. i’ve got some lucky craft 3/4 lvo’s on thier way which i win on ebay. i used to catch a lot of fish using jerk baits as cranks baits. when I am small stream trout and smallie fishing that is how i still fish the smaller rapala’s like f5-7 and the j-7 jointed rapala’s.
  24. i’ve seen pictures of floggers used a lot on lake St.clair when people are bed fishing for smallies. I believe they are primarily used for bed fishing. I try very hard to not bed fish so i don’t have a use for one but, to each their own
  25. 1: yum spine craw 2: 6 inch yum dinger or 3: any 5 inch stick bait. basically whatever ever your preference is this literally covered 90% of my t-rig fishing last year.
