  1. In the State of Michigan untill the 1950’s/60’s. A married women didn’t need to purchase a fishing license as long as her husband had one. In Michigan at least I’d say it was common for women to fish.
  2. I have a soft spot for daredevils. They make the best casting spoons. Eppinger still Manufactures every thingin Michigan. my grandpa took the Eppinger family on a salmon charter in the late 80’s/early 90’s. When the got on the boat they brought 3 boxes full of trolling spoons. Some of the spoons are still around up north.
  3. I fish for both all the time so I use my rods and reels for both. I’ve pulled large mouth and smallies out of the same spot 1 minute part .It depends more on where I’m fishing and if it’s big river fishing or gin clear lake water in norther Michigan. if fishing a really clear lake I’d grab Spinning 7ft st.croix premier m/l with a abu revo premier spinning reel ( I like this rod reel more more as I use it more) 7 ft m/l dobyns cold with a phluegar president spinning reel 6ft6 berkly tactics wacky rig edition with quantum Accurist pti spinning reel bait casters 6ft6 MH Johnny Morris carbon light 2.0 with a carbon light 8:1:1 reel 7ft Okuma Evx carbon crank rod with phluegar 5:4:1 supreme( another rod I bought over the winter that that I love using. Way better than my old skeet Reese crank rod ) if I was floating in a canoe or wading one of local rivers loaded with smallies around my area. I would grab the premier for 4 inch tubes and real light craw t-rigs. the dobyns for rapala’s and inline spinners
  4. I know this is a bass forum and in the last 3 weeks I’ve been catching everything but, bass. It’s been a brutal spring so far for me Took the old man out today. Probably the first time he’s been walleye fishing in 30-35 years. Put in at center street and went north of gratiot and worked are way back to gratiot. Caught my first Tittabawassee walleye which, was 18 inches. Also, caught 4 nice white bass but, those back. A spro little John chartreuse blue flat side crank bait caught all of the fish. I think dad had a good even though he didn’t catch anything. Still no bass that spro is a bass crank so it kinda counts, right ? It had just come in the mail today
  5. In case you need to take your pet bass for a walk. Didn’t somebody a couple years ago have a pet bass on here. he was concerned about releasing it into the wild?
  6. St,Croix premier 7ft m/l $10 more than a bass mojo and it is made in the USA. I like this rod more each time I take it out. It is been a killer 3.8 swim bait rod. I’ve got a abu premier revo paired with it. Using 8 lbs Berkley %100 flouro
  7. We’re struggling to get into pre spawn. Last week the river was 57 degrees. At night it has gotten back down into the mid 30’s the last 3 nights. So I don’t expect to warm much unless this rain has helped get the temp up. 1) Devine swim bait on 1/4 swim jig 2) cranks 3) chatter bait
  8. That actually looks like a good idea. I’d Rather it be dark green or some other natural color but, I’d say it would work. The 4 qrt one would probably be fine. I’m assuming water can run through it? You can pack a lot of minnows in a gallon when they have fresh water like that
  9. Those are pretty smallies. Colors look really good on them
  10. Unfortunately even C&R bass is a blood sport and killing a fish/bass will happen. Just the nature of the beast. All anybody can ask is to learn from it, move on, try to minimize it in the future. You did the right thing by eating it or donating to the eagles would be another good idea imho
  11. I like maxx scent and think it works. I don’t know if it’s better than power bait. I think it’s more lure dependent. I have a lot of Berkley power bait lures that I use, love chigger craws or other power bait craws/creatures . I really like maxx scent general/ stick bait worm for wacky rigging in clear water. maxx scent is definitely more smelly than power bait. Get that stuff on your hands and it lingers around all day
  12. After fishing the big river last week in dirty water and over cast skies decided to pick some stuff up. I knew the DT-10 was scheduled for delivery today but the project z chatter bait 3 pack were not scheduled until Monday. Now I have them for fishing the river Tommrow. That DT is bright bright red I don’t think they will have any issue finding it. hopefully y this project Z will get deeper in the holes
  13. By tungsten in bulk. There are a lot of vendors on Facebook, eBay, etc
  14. I ordered 3 project z’s. Found a 3 pack on eBay for $25. Black and blue, chartreuse sexy Shad, and the bonus one was a blue back Shad. First 2 should work for stained/muddy rivers down here. Hopefully get deep on the drop offs on the Saginaw
  15. I don’t expect to stay on the bottom but, just try and stay down longer. I’m thinking probably at least 1/2 oz
  16. Well I have some of the z-man version. Those probably would help it stay down.
  17. I like my tatula sv tw 103 hs. Very smooth reel and built like a tank. I use it for flipping and pitching 1oz- 1 1/2 oz jigs into heavy cover. I bought mine new but, I think it’s Generation older than what’s currently out there. I only paid $150 and I think the latest Generation is $180-$200
  18. not really in any order except the menance 1 Rage menace 2 zoom craw z 3 chigger craw 4 any thing in summer craw 5 BPS ( can’t remember name) puts out a creature that looks like a sweet beaver but, longer floppy antennas
  19. What z-man chatter bait would stay down deeper after letting it the bottom. Most I have tried or made have the similar head to the Arkie jig. I know a-man makes like 15 different chatter baits. ideally I would like it to try and stay down between 8-14 feet
  20. Bunch of rivers opened up on mid-Michigan due to the walleye spawn. Hit the Saginaw river, it was packed. I was hoping to catch some smallies and maybe a bonus walleye for dinner. Weather was kinda crappy got rained on 4 times. Caught a bunch of sheap head abd 2 small large mouth. Sheap head are fun to catch but, not what I was looking for. River is loaded with them. One came on a brush jig rest came on a dt-10 girlfriend
  21. Your not going to find a better sub $50 bait caster. I bought mine as my first bait cast combo almost 4 years ago and it still ticking after tangling with a 28 inch flat head. Cheap to up grade also, lots of after market stuff available. I upgraded the bearings just to red barrons and it casts a mile now and feels a lot better when reeling
  22. Any where really. outside of clumps of pads out side of reed walls, under docks, along rocks in socks while eating green eggs and ham. another good place is holes in dense what I call snot grass or any other holes in reeds
  23. Depends on the trailer and boat. My old 14 mirror craft was very light. Max tire pressure was somthing like 75 lbs. I didn’t dare run them that high or else the whole boat and trailer would bounce like a basketball. I kept those tires at about 45 psi. Put new tires on and ran it for 3 years with no abnormal tire ware. With pulling it a minimum 35 minutes one way 1-2 a week. Most trips were an hour pull. new boat is bigger and heavier. Max psi is 65 psi. Right now the tires are running about 59-60 psi. If it gets much lower I’ll fill them back up. I don’t have to worry about it bouncing all over the place
  24. I like the rage swimmer and I seem to get 3-4 fish out of them if I super glue them to the jig head I’ve been liking the divine swimmers too from 6th sense either used as search bait or in swim jig. They have a nice stiff tail and so far northern pike tested to take multiples off
