  1. Black and blue chigger craw anything black and blue water melon pearl yum dingers summer craw with any type of plastic whether it’s a craw or worm has been a very good producer in the summer in clear water. berkly’s maxx scent baby bass color I can’t get straight green pumpkin to work up here in Michigan unless it is a tube. Seems like the green pumpkin has to be accented with another color to worm IE summer craw or 6th sense green pumpkin burst.
  2. You could use this statement for those old round trolling reels. At one time in 60’s70’s and 80’s the penns were the standard trolling reel for Lake Michigan salmon and steel head. Than the Diawa sea lines came out and kinda knocked penn of their pedistool. Now it’s still diawa and you can add the okuma in the mix too. right now a penn round reel for big water trolling will cost you $60 bucks. However, for less money you can get a okuma convector with a line counter.
  3. Maybe I start trying eagle claws again. I want to support them as they are made here. Seemed like the worm hooks rusted just mentioning the word water. I guess I never really had an issue using the jig hooks on round all walleye jigs.
  4. We can fish it some time. Normal water I can get as far as state street. It hasn’t been the same since the dam blow outs though. Hopefully this summer it turns around as it’s only 25 minutes from my house. Good bass fishing if you go farther up the Shiawassee too from the confluence.
  5. I’ve purchased the kast king pliers with the braid cutters on the side from kast king on eBay. This will be the 3rd summer I’ve had them. I like the pliers a lot and think they are good deal at $20ish. Next time I buy them I’d buy them with out the split ring remover at the end. I find it kinda annoying sometimes in un-hooking fish. I have another set of split ring pliers if I need to replace a split ring.
  6. To date I’ve never caught anything on June bug or purple unless it’s pb&j. Cloudy, stained, or dirty water always black and blue followed by pb&j
  7. Oh that’s cool. I see your in langsburgh. I graduated from Owosso live in Chesaning and work in St.John’s. The Shiawassee was the first river a ever fished. Fished it a lot until i bought my first tin can about 5 years ago. Well I’ve been fishing it a lot with my bigger boat up in the flats and the confluence with the Titt up near Saginaw. Haven’t really fished it around Corunna/Owosso/Chesaning since which, is a shame. I need to get the canoe out and give it a go again. yeah we should fish/hang/ build rods/ lures some time. What are intrested in learning?
  8. Thanks I’ve been wanting one of the good made in Sweden ones for a while now
  9. Yeah I figure I’ll start with one of the crb kits first. I need a 1/2-3/4 oz worm/jig rod. Like I said I have some guides I need fixing first on my current stuff. Eventually I want a deep cranking rod for 1oz cranks been looking at the rain shadow kit too . Not looking at turning cork yet
  10. Picked this up off Facebook new in box for $75 bucks from a vendor. Looks like they retail between 165-200 bucks. I’m going to use it on my soon to be built deep cranking rod. Sigh springs only 3 months away
  11. Took some stock profits and on impulse bought the starter kit with the rod dryer and manual wrapper from mud hole. Been wanting to do this for a bout 10 years. I needed to replace 2 guides on 2 of my rods any how . So those will get me started. Now that I’m working nights I’ve been watching YouTube videos all night on my day off. I’m pumped !!! I needed something to do with all my time off and model plain building wasn’t scratching the boredom itch enough. should be here in 3 days
  12. I usually just sort mine by mfg than by depth. On the bottom side could be below the lip or the bottom side I’ll take a fine sharpie and write down according to the mfg what the jerk bait or crank bait dives to. I can never remember what they dive to off the top of my head Also next to each treble hook I put an x with fine sharpie. The X in sharpie tells me that I have swapped hooks out to a better hook. if a jerk bait doesn’t suspend it gets separated into the a walleye or trout trolling lure box
  13. I’ve got one of those ayus but in a deep diver 500 kvd. Yeah the kvd jerk baits are pretty good considering the price this kvd 300 sugar daddy on the bottom of the picture did major work this fall. I like the one mega bass perch 110 I had however, as you know with an abundance of pike in our waters up here. I can’t justify almost $30 bucks a pop with so many toothy critters running around. All it takes is a pike hitting the lure, me lifting the rod tip up and there goes the jerk bait never to be seen again. one thing going forward I will be doing more fall fishing in Michigan. It was nice having the lake to my self and catching a lot of bass
  14. Obviously no duh, if they float. Obviously bath bass like suspenders.
  15. Kvd’ 300’s will suspend in water around 50 degrees. Try them in a bath tub and the float right to the top
  16. Who says using a wacky rig isn’t fishing? I don’t use it as much as I should but, I use it a lot in clear water sight fishing. I’ve used it with various kinds of senko style worms and zoom magnum swamp crawlers
  17. Finally won some lucky craft 78 sp’s. The silver one I’ve bee. Trying to win now for 3 weeks. Each one was in a 2 pack. The silver and the perch colored ones should be good colors for around here. Plus saved 8.99 on combined shipping. Should have them here in about a week. maybe on the prowl for some more I’m not
  18. For me it’s a faster technique and I know within 10-20 minutes if the fish are in that kind of mood. Pitch lure, let lure slip through pads or crash through, let it hit bottom, if a fish hasn’t grab it sometimes I will bounce it off the bottom a couple of times, than reel back up. Sometimes they will chase it as you bring it over the pads if they arnt in that kind of mood I’ll put the punching/pitching set up away for a bit. Than I’ll start picking away at the outside edges of what ever I’m punching through. Usually it could be wacky worm, mojo rig, t-rig, and or light t-rig. Running a square bill or other crank works good to if the pads, cat tails for a definitive wall.
  19. that’s probably why I keep loosing auctions on them. I upped my max bid Way up on a couple of them
  20. I could probably fill up 2 good sized boxes. I buy most of the stuff I’ll never use during the winter time. Sitting around and thinking hey I wanna try that technique or fish for that. Than when push comes to shove in the summer time it’s kinda the same old thing. In the summer I mainly buy just whatever I run out on. I try to get my self to throw stuff away every 3-4 months. More do with soft plastics rather than hard baits. 1 year is generally my time frame with throwing out soft plastics. If I havnt looked at in a year it goes in the trash. also I target multiple species which really adds the clutter sometimes. It’s always “man, I wanna rig the boat for salmon” than come august when the salmon are close enough to shore where my boat can get at them I can’t pull myself away from bass fishing.
  21. Trying to expand on my late season jerk bait success this last fall. I’m trying to stock up for the coming spring .I have Also watching a ton of you tube videos. Hook up tackle in Arizona puts out good you tube videos breaking down all the difffernt kinds of mega bass and lucky strike jerk baits. so I’ve been binging a little on them. These in this photo are all of the ones I’ve won off of eBay over the last month. 3 still in packages are lucky 100’ sp’s. I won the top 2 walleye colored ones I won on eBay for $10.50 total. The blue gill 100 sp I paid $9.50 for. The bottom right 2 are lucky craft 110 lighting pointers in ghost minnow and blue gill. I forget how much I paid but, don’t believe it was over $12. id like to add some size 78 for the spring and probably purchase a couple mega bass ones too. I’ve not used the Pointer series before. I’ve used the lighting pointer from other mfgs. Those walleye colored ones could be killer. Also could pass for perch. The bluegill looks good too for muddier or darker water. I’m sure both will get plenty of attention from the various esox species as well.
  22. I’d pick 4. Flashy for sunny and muddy water , sexy shad or chartreuse with blue back ( cloudy or sunny days , natural bait fish sunny day or cloudy days clear water , and black for cloudy and muddy days
  23. It’s kind what ever I feel like doing. I feel like I fish a straight t-rig more in the spring/early summer. Mid to late summer I switch to jigs. Brush hogs I feel work better when there is cover on the bottom IE a bunch of sunken logs or cat tails. hard bottom even though I’ve gotten away from them I like throwing a tube on a tube jig. This was the first year I’ve thrown a ribbon tailed worm. The only reason for that is I had been striking out on craws and jigs consistently on the major river I fish. I did a lot of big river fishing this year. IMHO with the 2 dam failures up stream last year it super charged the river with nutrients that brought in millions of shad from the Saginaw bay. So I feel the bass were keying in on fish type bodies more than craws senkos are more of spring/early summer thing for me unlesss I’m using 4inchers on a mojo. I prefer to wacky rig when I’m sight fishing. Also t-rigging them during the same time period. I think the last k of action helps in under 70 degree water. Plastic swim baits I’m finding work good in the spring and fall still haven’t had a ton of success with beaver type baits. im actually trying to trim down the plastic tackle selection. however, sometimes you have to throw the kitchen sink at them and see what sticks. That’s how I stumbled upon the ribbon tail worm t-rig combo. They were buried in a mangled pack in my worm bag which, I had forgotten about even having. A couple trips it felt like I was just whistling my time do I had to try something different until it worked
  24. I use them for both hunting and fishing when it gets colder. Perfect for days like today when you have to get in the water I’ve fished in three times. Twice in the last 3 weeks. Yeah its known as a good walleye lake. Apparently a lot of pike as those 2 were about 6 and 7 I’ve pulled out of it . I have yet to catch a smallie out of it but, I’ve got a good idea on where they might be for next year. it’s a good bass lake but, I know it gets a lot pressure both from bass, walleye guys and recreation traffic in the summer.
