  1. Yeah I’m not buying the because, they are using live bait it’s harder to fish for bass. Bass eat live bait around the clock. Any of the new age guides are going to make sure the bass survive. Maybe the old school guides let clients keep them but, most guides are very in tune with the body of water they are fishing. Up here guides start getting Antsy if clients keep steel head on the rivers. It is in the guides best interest to make sure the fish survives so that another client can catch it. take a guy that knows what he’s doing with live bait and a yokel with artificial. The yokel is going to gut hook more fish with artificial than the live bait guy. I’ve seen it done plenty
  2. I did just buy a single double Indiana spinner blade kit from LPO to try out. It’s already painted in Tennessee shad But, that rabbit hole could commence. I’m going to wire tie the skirt instead of the supplied rubber one. For $5 bucks it’s worth a try
  3. Weed eater
  4. Alright, I probably drove the bid a little much on eBay. LC 78 sp’s . I’m not gonna say how much after shipping as it’s more than what I usually pay on these auctions. I really wanted them though As these will be great for brown bass in the titabawassee, Saginaw or other rivers after it rains. I can’t find this color on the lucky craft site. Probably the last jerk baits I’m buying for a while as I’m set. probably start concentrating on plastics. My wife really really dislikes me at the moment. Soon she will be back in the office and won’t be home as the endless stream of boxes keeps coming in. Haha
  5. I really liked gander out doors. Everything up here is so oriented towards walleye and big lake salmon trolling it’s not funny. They had a huge selection of bass stuff. No other place around here would cary 1-11/2 oz punching jigs. It really broke my heart when they closed all the stores in Michigan. I guess northwoods or franks in pinconning. Northwoods is starting to carry more and more of the mid range bass reels and rods $150-250 stuff. I’ve never been to the KVD ware house in Kalamazoo. It’s on my bucket list though
  6. I love my combo. I have the 6ft9 mh casting combo with a 8:1 reel. I use it as a lighter jig rod and reel. I should have bought another as a heavy pitching rod instead of the bass-x rod I ended up with. they go on sale occasionally for $174
  7. There’s a lot of places that sell brand new stuff on eBay. The one place I buy from a lot sells 2 packs of lucky craft jerk baits, cranks, and war eagle spinner baits. Lucky craft jerk bait usually sell for around $17.99 a piece . I’ve won an auction for 2 of the same color for $10.99. Usually I pay avg of $25-$30 when I win. If for instance it’s an odd color like walleye I won for $10.99. However, I also got into a bidding war and jacked the price Up to $45 on a rarer color lucky craft 2pack. get on eBay and just do a search for lucky craft 78 or 100 sp just to see what I mean. There are other bait shops that do it too
  8. I call this one Saginaw bay perch. I’ve been thinking about this one for a while in my head. Maybe I could add some orange at the bottom. This was the first go I’ll probably keep tweaking it
  9. I’d agree with this. I’ve never been a fan of braid on moving baits except a frog. I was using flouro last fall on my dobyns colt. That I was using for jerk baits just because, that’s what line was on it. I use Mono, co-polymer flouro or straight flouro for all moving baits including cranks, jerkbaits, chatter baits, paddle tails, and spinners
  10. Another mail call. Picked up my first dark sleeper ( should have gotten the 1/2) and 3 tiny OG’s from fish USA. On pay day I’ll buy some full sized OG’s. Also, picked up a war eagle river rat spinner, should be good for this spring
  11. Seems like this would be a good application for tungsten. However, maybe the head would have to be too small due to it being heavier than lead.
  12. This cheap Berkley portable line spooling station is pretty good. I think I paid like $13.99 for it 3 years ago. Keeps tension on the spool of line. I’ve never really been able to get the old pen through the middle trick to work well. I use it for bait casters, spinning reels, and trolling level winds.
  13. What do you mean why? Why pigeon hole your self into one style of fishing. If I’m going to spend 6-8-12 hrs out on the lake and they don’t want to eat a crank, spinner or jig ( I really really really love fishing cranks). I’m pulling out the wacky rig, mojo rig, and Ned rig. I’m not waisting my time on fishing a technique they don’t want that day. My objective is to catch fish on the days that I can which, means warm front, cold front, post cold front, sunny days, cloudy days, warm days and cold days. Fishing Great Lakes ,big lakes, little lakes, big rivers, small rivers, and trout streams. In conclusion repeated dives into the insanity of throwing something the fish don’t want is waisting my time.
  14. Need to be good at both
  15. I like the bomber model A shallow crank bait. Especially the chartreuse craw with black back. The other craw colors are good. I also like throwing the long A for pike as it’s fairly cheap. If it gets stolen I’m not out much. I use those with a more straight crank bait style retrieve. The Bomber long A used to be the mainstay for Lake Michigan steel head trolling 8-10 miles out in the scum lines. Grandpa had drawers full of them on the charter boat. I’ve tried the 5A and 6A over and over again and couldn’t buy a bite with them. I have 4-5 3/4 fat free shad new in box that I’m waiting for my deep crank rod to be done that I’m building
  16. Just made. I’ve started wire tiring my jigs now. All jigs have bee. Poured, powder painted and tied by myself. The black and blue bass jigs are actually black/blue flake protech paint on jigs . Lighting doesn’t really show it. Also, some walleye jigs I’ve been working on
  17. I feel like the abu black max combo was good beginner set up. I actually liked my lighting rod with a quantum accurist pti (2nd bait caster). I still have both set ups for back up. I would have gotten into the round reel game earlier. I took some bad advice on that about how they arnt cool or advanced enough. Like I said bad advice
  18. As of right now one of these. But, I’ve out grown it. So I have a water proof box that cnc lathe manuals came in from Japan. I’m completely cleaning the garage on my next day off. Which, after I’ll be adding a bunch of storage. At this I’d put most tackle stores to Shame with just my eBay winnings with hard baits. As when I win I usually win duplicates IE lucky craft and war eagles.
  19. First pic is a mail call a 100sp and a mega bass ito +1 pro blue 2 2nd pic is 6 inch pearl laminate yum dingers. Maxx scent green pumpkin tubes. Zman motor oil craws
  20. Green pumpkin jig with summer craw trailer pb&j jig with summer craw trailer. I’ve found contrasting a darker green with lighter green works very well black and blue with black blue fleck trailer. Not messing with this one
  21. Pliers. the Constitution of the great State of Michigan states that once an anglers forgets his/her pliers. The penalty is that a northern pike is going to grab your lure. It’s going to be a very bad day after that.
  22. So I would like to add this winding check to my rod. The dia. Of where it is going is .496 inches. They have a bunch of different sizes moving up in .001 increments. Should I purchase the exact size or get the ID bigger. How much bigger should I go? Like .005 inches bigger? I’m sure that there is some sort of print tolerance built into the ID of the winding check. I just don’t want the ID to be on the smaller side and than not fit.
  23. I want to get some rapala OG’s.
  24. I’m in this camp. I like the owner cutting point s in 1/0 and 2/0 worm hooks. That’s what I use for mojo rigging and small t-rigs. Anything bigger and I feel you are putting a huge hole in the fishes mouth. Which, makes it easier for the hook to come out. Honestly, I’ve yet to have to re sharpen the kvd’s. Some cranks are going on 3 years with the same hooks that I replaced originally. On my bass stuff I replace unless I’m on the boat and than I’ll sharpen real quick with a cheap hook file. All trebles are kvd 1x short 1x strong walleye trolling baits I run stock hooks and resharpen
  25. On cloudy or sunnier days with dirtier stained water. white and chartreuse historically has been a very good color for me in chatter baits and swim jigs. Black and silver has also been a good color in the same water conditions but, cloudy. Now, I may not catch a bunch of fish when I throw the white and chartreuse but, when I do catch fish on that color combo it’s usually an above average fish . I don’t really throw chatter baits in clear water
