  1. I guess I would have to see that done to see how it looks. I’m just trying to wrap my head around it
  2. So it’s officially done. I’m happy with it. Learned how to make a handle rather than making it from a handle kit. Learned how to do inlays and feel fairly confident in that wrap. It’s not perfect but, casts amazing. next up when I get some time is the 7ft8 glass rod from tackle geeks. I want to a fade wrap on that one.
  3. Yeah it seems like it will work for tubes. The hook eye is buried into the tube. Hook eye could be longer but, would work. There up to the 1/4 oz size would work better for 3.5 inch tubes. 1st photo: so the bottom tube is a no-name generic 3.5 tube with 1/8 jig. Middle tube is a strike king 3.5 tube with 1/4 oz jig. Top jig is 1/4 with a 4.0 zoom tube. The 1/4 oz has 2/0 hook the 1/8 has 1/0 hook. 2nd photo the 3/0 eagle claw lazor sharp dosent want to fit. I don’t know if I need to maybe mill out the hook eye ? 3rd photo bottom row: eagle claw lazor sharp. Middle row: owner 1/0 light wire Top row gama 114 1/0 hooks I can’t believe I’ve put off buying this Lee melter for so long. Definitely blows my hot pot 2 electric ladle out of the water
  4. That’s a good idea actually I wasn’t thinking about that. The smaller ones might work. I’ll check it out soon. I was hoping to do a test run with that mold and new melter tonight
  5. I ended up going with the gama do it mold Grc-7-A. I also picked up some L3053 lazor sharp eagle claw hooks to play around with. I believe that I have some similar style gama 604 hooks, Mustad, and owner hooks on hand already. also bought a new Lee melter for MFC to get ready for walleye jig making season.
  6. Latest eBay score 3 200 yard spoils of 7lbs suffix invisiline. 4 spool of 8 lbs Yamamoto sugoi flouro carbon. Picked it all up for $60 shipped. Both 7lbs and 8 lbs are going on spinning reels. If this doesn’t work I’m going braid to flouro. Decided to down size line a bit. Atleast if it still knots up I have enough flouro to probably get through the year. 2nd photo is float and fly stuff that came in. 2 adjusta bubble floats one in 1/4 and another in 3/8. Lastly spro 1/16 flies. Talking that winter will drag into April. The float and fly might be a bigger player.
  7. March 1st and It’s the final count down!!!! Traditionaly within the last 5 years I start bass fishing on or around March 25th. Extended forecast still looks like nights in the teens untill mid March. Hopefully it starts climbing to the mud 30’s and 40’s soon at night. Days are getting to the 40’s already
  8. Yes we can. We have a fairly decent sized pond in the back that was there before the cheese plant was built. They told us during orientation that we can fish it when we’re off the clock. There is also a small creek/river that the company waste water treatment plant dumps into. that we can also fish.
  9. The one towards bottom are definitely longer because, I was trying to fit in that trim band. Im sure they will get shorter as time goes on and I do this more. I have found it’s really more about training your fingers and hands what to do more than anything This little gadget was definitely worth the 8 bucks from mud hole. This is the first rod I’ve used it on but, works well for extra support down at the tip end. Wil be good for ice rods too
  10. I’m betting you have the hardware in tight to each other. You need to leave a little distance from the last bead and how ever you came up with to make a loop. The whole assembly should kinda slide back and forth when you tip the whole spinner upside down. You don’t need a ton of room. Just enough do that last bead can move maybe 1/32 or 1:16 of an inch you need little metal beads on either side of the clevis. The metal beads act as bearings for the blade. french blades work the best but, colors can be lacking in this photo you can see the little gap and the beads around the clevis this spinner is a river smallie killer btw
  11. Been really busy with my jig business doing walleye jigs recently but, finally had time to get my rod all wrapped up. After I post this I’ll put color preserver on and then tonight hopefully I’ll start putting epoxy on the wraps. those new lzr guides are really nice. Wish I would have bought the grey ones though Both of the differnt single inlays were a new wrapping technique I tried out. Worked pretty good
  12. Definitely the Mojo. However, the premier is at the same price point or a little bit more as the mojo and is made in Wisconsin. I don’t know if the premier comes with split grips.
  13. 4 inch green pumpkin Zoom tube or Berkley maxx scent. I forget how long the maxx scent tube is. it’s either 3.5 or 4 inches I Get more mileage out of the zoom tube but, I caught a lot of 4 lbers on the maxx scent tube last year either on a tube jig or Carolina rigged. I did use a blue and black strike king kvd tube with a little success last year on the titabawassee and Saginaw river.
  14. I can’t take credit for that. MickD is the one that sent me the email attachment on how to do that
  15. I know. I’m after some line right now after that I’m done. I kinda wish they weren’t all the same color. Sometimes they mix it up
  16. So I hit up my eBay honey hunny hole again. I won 3 evergreen stealth blade 3 bhite jack hammers for $21 and some change. Then I won 4 packs of 13 fishing lunch bugs blue berry yum yum basically to help offset the $10 ups shipping cost. So all this for 40 bucks shipped. We will see about the lunch bugs supposedly they are supposed be boyant enough so it looks like it’s in a defensive position. I don’t know how the bass will feel about that. However, I won them cheap enough to try I scored for $1.50 4 inch yum dingers in elders majic color on the Walmart clearance rack. Should look good on a mojo/split shot rig. I have to get my 2 rods built, finished tearing down and servicing my last 2 bait caster and possibly one more spinning real. Then I can start organizing my tackle and decide what to keep and what to bin. I feel like I’m at the point of my soft plastic I want to throw it all away and start over.
  17. One crank I’ve not had a lot of success on. I catch lots of other things on them but, not bass. However, I have DT-10, 14, and 16’s
  18. They never sent me a sticker when I built my Bushido. I think that’s the same rod blank I built last year untill I broke it. It was 3/4-1 1/2 oz I think 7ft4 or 7ft6. Only reason I didn’t buy it again is because I wanna throw 2 oz cranks.
  19. Handle assembly, real seat and forgrip are epoxied in place. Guide train test with the 2 line method went good. Did test cast and this thing casts amazing. Probably the best casting spinning rod I’ve had. Started wrapping. I don’t know what wrap I’ll do for the hook keeper yet. I really like that aero-17 comfort seat,
  20. I’m so ready to bass fish I could cry. We really haven't had any decent ice to ice fish this year. At least last year we had enough ice to keep myself entertained. I’ve been twice this year and had to go up north to find it. Did catch a 12 inch perch that choked a sucker minnow in a tip up. We have just enough to keep the launches clogged but, not safe enough to go out on the ice. big fishing show in Grand Rapids 9-12 that a buddy and I excited to go to. Last year they had a decent amount of bass tackle in stead of the normal big lake salmon/trout and walleye trolling gear.
  21. There are a 1 or 2 lakes around the metro Detroit area that have lake trout stocked. Some of them ( not all) that were caught and cleaned were literally full of plastic worms. Eventually it will kill them. Lake trout are more vulnerable to this as they spend a lot of their time near the bottom looking for easy meals im kinda surprised the anti’s aren’t all over this. Luckily as far as I know they have never made a big deal out if it. Losing a worm fighting a fish is what it is. Tossing tore up plastic intentionally in the lake is another.
  22. T-rig with 3/16 or 1/4 oz. I havnt thrown them much. I threw the christy critter more 4-5 yrs ago. Cristy critter wasn’t as durable though
  23. I’m pretty addicted to BTL. Pretty much listen to that everyday it’s on. Started tackle talk. Seems alright the jimmy Houston episode was good . I have a lot of respect for Houston now after listening to that episode
  24. So I ended up redoing my handle. Wasn’t really happy with it. Here is the new EVa handle. I like it better. I’ve got about 8 hours total into this handle. With the shaping included on the first one I build. Now I need to cut and shape the for grip. my 7ft9 rod geek glass deep cranking rod 1-2 oz came in. It is dark blue. I’ve been buying and hoarding different colored blue thread figuring out the perfect ones for that build.
  25. Lake trout will eat them off the bottom too.
