  1. Honestly I'm definetly leaning towards the normal Tatula, I can get it for $90 and it seems the best option.
  2. I'm guessing you haven't caught a single fish over a pound in that month? Because apparently that's what happens when you combine two great brands!
  3. Lol shimano and Daiwa are my favorite brands so why not combine them? Is the Elite considerably better than the Tatula? Because the Elite is gonna cost me a good $40-50 more. Money isn't a big concern, but the difference must be justified imo.
  4. These looks pretty sweet and I'm considering getting one later on, which one would you guys rather have? I'll probaly pair it with a Tat ct-r, and use it for 1/4-5/8 jigs and t rigs.
  5. Either a Shimano Sahara or Daiwa Tatula/BG.
  6. I can definetly voice for the Ct-r! It's my favorite reel and I prefer it to my Curado in every situation I find myself. And I paid $85 for it with an eBay code!
  7. Hey guys, I need a good crankbait rod for a good price and I wanted your guys opinions. I will be putting a Shimano Slx on this rod. I really don't want to spend a fortune on any more rods. I was looking at a cabelas Tournament ZX on sale for $75. Any other recommendations?
  8. I have the same combo that I use for frogging!
  9. Perhaps it's for the greater good.
  10. Check out the pflueger president/cabelas tourney trail combo, it's usually on sale for around $60 and it's an awesome combo for the money, plus the rod has a lifetime warranty.
  11. Just pulled the trigger on the SLX, I really hope this reel ends up being what everyone says it is!
  12. Considering getting a Shimano Slx
  13. You guys gotta stop making me jealous with these hawgtechs!
  14. Man I would abosultely love one of those custom handles! Just wish they were a bit more affordable, atleast now I know what I want for Christmas! ??
  15. What is your favorite sub $200 combo?
  16. I've broken 2 rods in the last year, the first one was a Abu Garcia Vendetta. I was riding my bike under a tree and it got caught in the branches, I emailed Abu a pic of the damage and they sent me a brand new one for $10. The second rod was a Cabelas Salt Striker, it broke while bringing in a 3 pounder. I took it back and they gave me the credit for it. I bought a Dobyns Fury the same day and it's the nicest rod I have.
  17. I never go fishing without one!
  18. I have the centrifugal brakes set to 2 on 2 off, when throwing a frog I have the external brakes set on 2 1/2 - 3 depending on the wind. It's a smooth caster and excellent retrieve but I'm not satisfied with the distance. My fuego outcasts the Curado with most baits. Maybe it's defective or I'm just not setting it up right.
  19. In my experience Daiwa is much more forgiving and easier to use. You can set up Magforce out of the box in a minute then never have to mess with it again.
  20. So I was looking at the Tatula XT and the Bass X and I was wondering what your guys opinion was on these two rods. I'll probaly use one of these for jigs, t rigs, and light topwater use. Let me know what you think
  21. Thank you, I will definetly reach out to him.
  22. Hi guys, I fish the Tidal Basin in D.C. quite a bit and there is a healthy population of gar, however I am at a loss on how to catch them. I always fish for catfish when I'm there and I get bit a lot without any hookups and I'm sure gar are the culprit. The only time I've seen them caught is by accident when the lines gets tangled up in their mouths, I've been brainstorming for quite some time now and I think I've come up with a solution. I was thinking in wrapping my cut bait in yarn or twine so when the gar eats it it'll get stuck in the yarn. I'm looking for other people's opinions on this and to see if anyone has tried this with success!
  23. I'd go with the Fuego CT. IMO it's the best reel for the price you pay. I picked one up for $47 with an EBay code.
  24. Ive mainly been throwing frogs with it, I have the internal brakes set with 2 on and 2 off. I have not oiled the brake drum, I will take a look at in the morning and see of that makes a difference. If all else fails I'll be exchanging it
